I didn't know juvenile and intermediate will not be in Nationals, is that from when, 2020?

This means I will hold on even more dearly to the program book from Boston 2014, with the pictures of little Starr Andrews and Audrey Shin in juvenile for example. I can spend a whole evening with that book discovering her...and him..and them...

While technically that is correct, there is a caveat.

The top 2 Novices in each Section will go to Nationals where they will compete as Juniors. It should be interesting to see how those Novices fare. I think they will either be super competative or a diaster, nothing in between.

Fyi. With the existing system, top 4 from Sectionals move to Nationals.

And novices had been at Nationals since the 1930s, whereas intermediates and juveniles were much more recent additions.

I think early on (30s-50s) there were some differences in how skaters qualified for Nationals at junior and senior levels that might have been more similar to what they're going to do with the top novices starting next year than with the strict test level requirements of intervening decades. But that was before my time.

I hate to be That Person, but I'm glad Nationals is getting rid of the lower levels. I'm perfectly happy with the retooling of the competition structure. Not that I don't love watching the kiddos, but I can't imagine that it was profitable for USFS and added another layer of logistics. And with all the new SafeSport restrictions re: changing rooms and whatnot, may be more challenging to implement successfully.

Attending Nationals for skaters at lower levels is also probably expensive and time consuming for parents, and interferes with children's school schedules, while children are not certain of their athletic future.

I think that's a good point to consider actually. There might be better ways to cultivate the talent while being more feasible for most people in that situation.

According to USFS, one of the reasons they got rid of Nationals at the lower levels was due to cost. They were quoting $5-10k. To clarify, that is what the parents were reporting they had spent.

Something happened to Megan's hand. She had a brace on it when she was performing. It's why she couldn't hold on to her blade during her layback.

That was an excellent skate. Tennell is getting better and better. I don't have enough words to praise her. If she skated like this in GP events, she would be in the final, and in the Final she would be in top 3 (even without 3A). I see that she and her coach picked up a lot of good elements from last year's top ladies and included in her programme, and it looks great. She is a very straight-forward, hard working girl, without any gimmicks, games, and publicity stunts. Hope she wins nationals and medals in future events.

Mariah won the PCS portion in SP at Golden, slightly over Bradie.

Just a question (please no haterz) do you think Bradies PCS will continue to rise. I know some people think she is bent over too much but I do quite enjoy her skating.

Bradie took skating skills and transitions and Mariah I believe took the other 3.... but just barely

I saw the final scores before protocols for Bradie and Maria. I was actually relieved that Bradie’s deduction was for a simple jump and not the 3z/3l.

Bradie received full credit for her 3Lz+3Lo (10.80 BV, 12.22 pts) in her FS today but got under-rotation calls on her second half jumps: 3Lz<+3T (still worth 9.23 pts), 3F<+2T+2Lo & 3S< fall.

Mariah doubled her Lutz in the second half of her FS, then her flip was called 3F< ! with negative GOE before she landed her final 3Lz+2T well.

Both she and Bradie have scored consistently in their 4 internationals this season and have 8 of the top 9 total scores (Ting Cui has the other): https://unseenskaters.wordpress.com/scoretracker/current-senior-ladies-scores/
Bradie: 206, 193, 198, 202
Mariah: 189, 190, 199, 197
Ting: 199.79

I also wanted to add that the USFSA gambled and won by the success of Bradie and Mariah at Golden Spin

Their scores and medals solidify their positions at the top of the US ladies pyramid and set them up for good scoring at Nationals and Worlds, where they would need to hit to regain 3 spots for the US. I hope Bradie can clean up the UR situation in the 2d half of the LP because she probably could score north of 210, and Mariah court fall in the 200-210 range hitting her content: IMO, that might get 3 spots

Posture issues haven't affected Zagitova's scores, and her posture is just about the worst I've ever seen.

She is bent at the waist but has a straight back. I guess that qualifies as bad posture.
