U.S. Ladies [#27]: A Time to Reboot

I tried to click and open the protocol for Ladies SP at Nebelhorn: No Luck! Shouldn't the competition be over at this point?
 
After two international competitions, three of our US ladies are in the top ten in their respective outings. Mariah Bell is in first at Nebelhorn after she executed a clean Short in which she received an under-rotation on the 3F+3T. Bell received a few Level 3’s, but was overall poised, energetic, and calm. Sarah Jung sits in sixth in Croatia after doubling her 3Lz+3T into a 3Lz+2T. Gabriella Izzo is in 9th place after falling on a 3F+3T. Good luck to the ladies in the Free.

Right in the middle of Mariah's skate their whole website crashed.

On a european/east-european chat people are saying it is because of the censorship (in Germany) and the word "b-tch" in the song during programme. i don't know if it is true or not, only repeating what is being said.

I totally forgot that she forgot a 3S existed last season.

2A, 3F+3T, 3Lo, 3S / 2A+3T, 3Lz+2T+2Lo, and 3Lz

That gives Mariah a base value of 62.63 assuming all Level 4s. If clean, she can score 73+ in TES, 63+ in PCS, and have a total score range of 205-212. I think Mariah's goal will be to peak at Worlds once again and hopefully earn Grand Prix and Challenger medals. Additionally, if she manages to consistently perform AND improve, her PCS will rise accordingly. Judging by the GOE, her jumps seem to have improved which is a good step. Best of luck to Bell in the Free. The fight for the two Worlds spots will be VERY interesting.

ETA: Mariah is at the tail end of the video 6:52:32, and alas of course we only get to see not even a minute of her opening before the crash happens. Mariah was the second to last skater in the ladies division too. What a bummer!

Of the skaters who don't already have byes to Nationals, I THINK the "top 6 per section score NQS byes through Regionals would look something like this- but definitely would love to see some confirmation from USFS because who knows what I might have missed...

SENIOR LADIES-

EAST- Audrey Shin, Gabriella Izzo, Rena Ikenishi, Sarah Jung (if senior), Jill Heiner, Heidi Munger

MIDS- Amber Glenn, Pooja Kalyan, Paige Rydberg, Maxine Bautista, Stephanie Ciarochi, Akane Eguchi

I am about positive that skaters that have GP and/and Challenger Seriers slots get byes to Sectionals. At one point, a JGP had to be within 2 weeks of Regionals to get a bye to but I think that has been changed to all JGP skaters get a bye to Sectionals.

Then you get the top 6 NQS skaters getting a Bye to Sectionals.

I think both Kate and Linsdey get the bye through the JGP not the NQS. So I think their names get skipping in determining the top 6 for NQS byes.
 
Yes, any skater with a fall int'l assignment gets a bye to Sectionals.

Sarah Jung competed Senior at Chesapeake Open and Liberty/Philly so I assume she will be competing Senior this season.

This is essentially the jump content she had during her breakout performance at the 2015 U.S. Nationals, switching out the planned 3T+3T with a 3F+3T.

Million$momma is correct though, the 3Lz+2T+2Lo Marco proposed would have to be a triple-double, preferably a 3Lz+2Lo (every little point counts -- just ask Medvedeva).

Mariah Bell's FS jump layout at 2018 Nebelhorn Trophy included a triple & a double Salchow (the jump was taken out after that):

I'm looking forward to seeing Mariah debut her FS to k.d. lang’s "Hallelujah" choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne. She's scheduled to compete in Oberstdorf at 7:34 am Eastern time tomorrow.

At JGP Zagreb tomorrow, Gabriella Izzo is scheduled to skate her FS at 1:48 pm Eastern time and Sarah Jung at 2:01 pm ET.
 
If Bell can deliver a clean Short and clean Long, she has a very good shot at surpassing the 215 mark. Now that she has the technicality and PCS, she needs to work on earning high GOE. Mariah is hungry for that World spot and is truly making a case for herself. Karen, Ting, Amber, and Starr will have to skate lights out and be consistent if they want to be in the conversation. We can’t say anything about Bradie yet as we have not seen her compete.

Also, Bell should do a 3Lz+2T+2Lo instead of 3Lz+2T which would give her nearly 2 extra points. Had she earned positive GOE on the 3Lo and added the 2Lo, she would’ve passed 140 easily. This is a very good start for Bell and it’s only onwards and upwards from here.

Bell was great today!😍 As I wrote in the PBP thread, she really believes in her program and executes it to the max. Her passion will take her far. And so will her technique if she keeps skating like this :cheer:
 
Bell was leaving out a 3 jump combo last year, too. I'm sure Raf will work on that w/ her as it appears she is locking down her performance and is ready to handle further improvements.

When I was watching the performance, it reminded of Michelle Kwan so much! Onwards and upwards!

Also, Canadian singer, Canadian composer, Canadian choreographer, and Canadian Worlds... do you guys see the pattern? :p Mariah's clearly ready for Montreal, Canada.

A great start to Mariah's season.

And the Salchow is back too, which is promising.

They'll need to add the second 2A back in somewhere (the extra four points or so is absolutely needed to compete with the very best -- especially with more and more trying triple Axel and quads).

Perhaps she can take a page out of Tuk's book and do a 3Lz+2A sequence if she's not going to do a "true" combo and of course, add that three-jump. Hate to sound like it's strictly numbers but that's the game everyone is playing nowadays.

Wonderful season debut for Mariah!

If anyone finds a video of her short program, could you please share it? I understand the livestream cut out during her program, but hopefully a fancam or something surfaces. Hallelujah was beautiful, but I’m more curious about the SP mainly because it’s such a departure stylistically for her.
 
Im so looking forward to January already!!!!!!

With Liu and Tennell and Bell the podium probably... Im excited to see Gold and Edmunds as well but I wont really factor them as podiums until the 20-21 season should they continue.

Then give me some Glenn, Cui, Andrews and Harrell and Im thinking of getting my tooshie to Nationals!!!!!
