huh?????????

Amber Glenn from Texas? The figure skater?

lol, I dunno what you talking about Willis.. I disagree and left bewildered...

crude makeup? Child, I live in Hollywood, CA ... come walk down my streets and maybe thats what you mean by crude makeup...... dangling earrings????

an air of "WTF?"

I think you're talking about a different figure skater..... Im so perplexed by your thoughts that Im gonna focus on other things at the moment.

Yes, the same Amber who won the Natl Jr title in 2014. I’ve always liked her...why I was so shocked at her present look.

Amber is an interesting case. She reminds me of Nicole Bobek. She skates very free and is an emotional skater, which to me, sometimes get the better of her. I agree with Fran that Amber does give off the impression that she is skating for herself and the audience, not really the judges. She is not a cookie cutter skater at all but she does skate to a lot of generic female ballads and sometimes looks on the verge of tears. I enjoy her a lot as a skater because does not hide her emotions. It is up to her what she wants to portray out there so I can't get mad at her. It always a spectacle of some sort.

Yes! A bit of a “wild child” air.
Not “establishment.” I do wish her well and that she lives up to that promise of 2014.

Update- Alex Evans and Caitlin Ha from SWPac both surpassed the 75 min TES score for Nationals. None of the senior ladies from NWPac or EGL made the mins. Emily Zhang and Jill Heiner from South Atlantics made it. ETA- Paige Rydberg is the only senior lady from SW regionals to get the mins, by quite a healthy margin. Courtney Hicks was 6 points short of them.

Catlina Ha is one of my favorite lesser known skaters. Her artistry and ability to emote are really good when she's on. Hoping that gets to go to Nationals and scores a personal best. Courtney Hicks will be competing later today at another regionals event.

So I admit I have not really figured this whole new system out. Does that mean there’s no way those gators will be able to go to National’s. Regardless of where they placed

Someone feel free to correct me but I believe the top 4 ladies from Regionals advance to Sectionals, so those ladies all still have a chance to make the TES minimum required to compete at Nationals.

Yea, the skaters all get another shot at Sectionals....and also if they got the scores during the summer that also counts...but it has to be attained sometime during this season- even if they got it last year they still have to get it again (unless of course they have a bye to Nationals due to intl comp or top 5 from last year).

Congrats to Bradie!!! Silver! What a performance over 2 nights. And no < assigned...

Which leads me to this... Her second 3lutz/3toe was clearly a 3/3 with a <, why in the protocols do they give her a 3/2 with no <

Help me on this?

Thanks.
The technical panel made a mistake. It's the best I've got at this point as it was clearly an attempted 3T, and wasn't like she bailed at 2 1/2 rotations or something like that.

^I will have to recheck the protocol, but was this fixed by the judges? Because that would alter her actual score, wouldn't it??

ETA - OK. I didn't watch the live Johnny / Tara show but went to Youtube and watched the Russian broadcast of Bradie's performance. First of all, she skated last in a stacked field: Russia's National Champion and Tuk, JPN's probable #2, Korea's #1 (Senior) and she handled some serious pressure quite deftly. It looks like she had better lift than normal on her opening 3Z-3T (Mishin Summer training?). She also showed softer lines and extension instead of hiding her lack of it last year, where they (cleverly) disguised it w/ jagged, angular movements. Moving forward, I wonder if they intend to revisit the 3Z-3L, add 2 3Z and 3F, and try to get the TES a little higher. It is so necessary more now than ever. Maybe the goal is to try and skate solid at the next GP and then experiment at Warsaw Cup (?)

I was told that there was only a short window where you can protest a score. I believe it is typically just a matter of about an hour or so. I have also seem situations where the error was brought to the judges attention, they have acknowledged that a mistake was make, but have chosen not to correct it.

And the judges would have to rescore the element. My bet is they leave the mistake and say “whoops!” At this point, it’s too difficult to correct.

^OK. It obviously wouldn't have altered her placement, but I imagine a UR 3T would have been 1-1.5 points higher (just guessing)?

What the heck!!! And it wasnt fixed or submitted by Denise Myers?

I clearly saw she did 2 3lutz/3 toes..... and seeing it is a 3/2...... I was like what????

Hm, that mistake could potentially be the difference of her making the GPF or not. The whole thing seems pretty ridiculous.

I believe that judges can change their GOE, at least they used to be able to unless there was some kind of automatic ceiling that was applied if an UR was assessed? Mirai would get nice GOE on her jumps only to lose it when the review deemed them UR.

In any event, this wasn't called a faulty 3t attempt, just a 2t, so maybe it wouldn't have impacted GOE?

But I feel like base value influences GOE and PCS, so this type of mistaken undervaluation is significant.

My point is that she may have lost more than base value difference between 3t and 2t. Not enough to changes the standings, but more than what it looks like on paper.

I don't think judges are told of UR or edge calls? But I could be wrong.

The call did cost Bradie some points. I wish there was a longer window to file a protest.

But I don't get it ..... all 9 judges and tech specialist and referee and everyone .... everyone who was judging the element couldnt see it was a 3/3??????

Reminds me of Lillehammer when a judge said he never saw Nancy do a 3/3.

Someone from usfsa should be there looking at scores in real time just in case the coach is busy with something else.....

Yeah it blows my mind how this slipped through SO many cracks. Maybe they would have marked it as << so it wouldn’t have made a difference but that would have been a pretty harsh and not really justifiable call.

A 3Lz+3T< in the second half of the program is worth 10.19 points. Since Bradie had a weird wobble, that would have earned a median GOE of about -2. With the GOE tacked on, the 3Lz+3T< is now worth 9.01 points. Bradie's 3Lz+2T in the second half was worth 6.82 points. The difference between the 3Lz+3T< and 3Lz+2T is 2.19 points. Had Bradie been called correctly, her score would be 218.33 points. That's a HUGE difference in a sport like figure skating where 1 or 2 points could mean the difference between 1st and 4th.

and it also makes a big difference for the ISU seasons best and personal best.....

right now this would make her seasons best even higher.... maybe even her personal best???

OK, well they missed it. It's a learning experience. I mean ultimately it is Bradie & her coach's job to protest, and they didn't; but they will probably check every protocol carefully from here on out. Regardless, this was a much better start to Bradie's GP season than last year. Good for her.
