2024 Four Continents/Junior Worlds/Worlds US Team Speculation

In the perfect world, Gordon Green would come back to skate with his sister. And Vadym is still with Nguyen

I think this is a good decision, given the time frame. And I am happy it will give Naumov a chance to compete

I'm not surprised this is happening with multiple people making the world team. It's possible competing right after nationals and then being ready for worlds seemed more reasonable when it wasn't happening, but the reality seems more difficult. But I bet a lot of them said yes in case they didn't make the world team and knew they wouldn't go if they did make it.

I'm absolutely thrilled that Camden has WD from 4CCs. I was hoping this would be the outcome today so that Max has an opportunity to improve his SB and earn some WS points!
I also wouldn’t be surprised if some nice USFS person suggested to Camden to spread the wealth, given Max’s performance (and judging) at Nats. Max could have beaten Camden if he went clean.

Why would he do that to help a rival? If he withdrew that’s probably his school he has to think about

Sometimes what goes around comes around. Camden must know that with that facockte judging, he could have been left out, so why not do both himself and Max a favor. I dunno, I’m just speculating.

Not going will likely bump Pulkinen out of the penultimate SP group at Worlds and takes him out of the running for cash. That would not be a great call by USFS, unless they thought it would be less pressure, which is not a vote of confidence. I'd like to think that it was a trade-off and his call, given that recovery is mentioned in the announcement.

It is definitely a smart choice and I'm glad ZingKol have the opportunity to go instead.

CarPon are definitely going to 4CCs - they posted on their IG earlier today that they are off to China next.

Haven't seen anything from GreenP, LiuNagy, or Thorngren today but none of those are necessarily prolific on social media, especially ahead of and during competitions.

So, we know the USFS is waiting until after the WYOG to select the Jr Worlds entrants. I'm guessing they're using the scores the skaters get at the WYOG in lieu of Nats.

Top 5 from the Calculation Table = Malinin*, Martynov, Strommer, Kovar, Fegan, Sanchez
* - I doubt Malinin wants to be considered for JWC so I think the Int'l Committee will take the 6th man on the list

Top 3 age-eligible skaters from Junior & Senior Nats - Malinin*, Martynov, Kovar, Kazanecki, Shinohara**, Fegan
** - does not have JWC TES mins (assigned to Bavarian Open)

Top 10 from 2023 Jr Worlds - Broussard, Martynov

Top 24 on current Jr WR - Strommer, Martynov, Sanchez, Xie

Jr Worlds Team Prediction - Martynov, Sanchez; alternates - Strommer, Kazanecki, Fegan

I always like it when the US spreads the wealth between Worlds and Four Continents. It just makes sense for world standing points. I think if Europeans had been created at the same time as Four Continents you would see some of the same attitudes. Different history behind the competition and different goals.

Why is Zanecki likely to be passed over for Jr. Mens?
Kazanecki didn't have any JGPs and his score from Nats is only a smidge higher than what Sanchez just got with an int'l panel at the WYOG. I suspect he, like Higase-Chen on the women's side, will be passed over.

Christina posted a pic from the plane this morning so they are off as well (from Detroit no less)
There is a direct flight from Detroit to Shanghai on Mondays that is pretty easy to connect with by taking an early morning flight from Columbus to Detroit, so that's what I expected most of the 4CCs team to take. I was surprised that so many skaters were leaving late Saturday or early Sunday. The dancers are lucky that their competition doesn't start until Friday, so they can afford to fly today/arrive tomorrow.

Additionally, Z/K and Elyse will be ending their season at 4CC so they can go all out without worrying about conserving their energy for worlds. I suspect that makes a big difference.
If Elyce skates lights out at 4CC she might be named to Junior Worlds.
