2024 Four Continents/Junior Worlds/Worlds US Team Speculation

Sarah Everhardt could and should be sent out for World SP min (already has FS), especially if she is not named to the Jr Worlds team. With things looking a bit tenuous for Ava and Lindsay regarding injury recovery (lets see how 4CC goes), and Clare and Starr looking a little shaky at Nationals, I think Sarah actually might make the most sense for Worlds 1st Alternate assuming she can get the min score. I fully expect USFS to leave her off the alternate list altogether though, in favor of women who are struggling to land 2 clean triples in a free skate right now.

I don't disagree but the Challenge Cup entries are already out and the USFS isn't sending anyone, so I think they'll just risk it with Ava and Lindsay.

Whew... The Women, both Jr and Sr, are done! Selection Pool updates incoming!

On the strength of last night's performances, it's very difficult to look past Josephine Lee and Sarah Everhardt.

Sarah perhaps, Josephine not so much. USFS doesn't put as much stock in having one great comp at Nats compared to the entire season's results. Josephine was such a hot mess last summer she WD from/had her JGP assignment pulled, depending on the gossip you choose to believe.

Seriously, as soon as the time/travel crunch for 4CCs was known, I suspected that the US would be sending a “get experience” team. Why USFS didn’t just select them from the get go confounds me.
Hard to say to your top athletes that they can't go, particularly if they've planned their season with the travel, and competing twice in a short period of time. The upside to this sort of back to back competitions is they could be seen as a runthrough for the Team Event in two years.

I really believe we will have a WD from ChoBat before the end of the evening.

I sincerely hope so unless their plan is to be Typhoid Marys who take out the rest of the competition.

I don't think I need to tell anyone that I'm anti-mask and anti-restriction, but there was really no need for Chock and Bates to skate today. They have many US titles already, and their Worlds spot was not in doubt. Going to 4CC when they're so visibly sick puts themselves and others at risk, plus it's stupid strategically to potentially end up off the podium in their last competition before Worlds.

The USFS should withdraw them if they don't come to their senses. I might excuse this type of behavior for Worlds or Olympics, but it's just unnecessary at US Nationals or 4CC.

I still don't understand if the USFS knew ahead of time that China was going to do this and move 4CC up a week why didn't they move Nationals up a week too so the US team could have some time to rest and get ready for it.

Now that I’ve had a total of six minutes to digest this I guess it does make sense for Amber to withdraw. China moved this whole thing up by one week to begin with correct?

I wonder if the ISU points she’ll miss out by not going could have propelled into a better start position for the world short program?

Sarah perhaps, Josephine not so much. USFS doesn't put as much stock in having one great comp at Nats compared to the entire season's results. Josephine was such a hot mess last summer she WD from/had her JGP assignment pulled, depending on the gossip you choose to believe.
Aren’t you thinking of Soho? Josephine competed at the second JGP in Austria
