Survivor season 37: David vs. Goliath

As much as I disliked Natalie and totally agree that she had to go, I LOVED it when she essentially said "feck you beyoth you ain't gettin' my jacket" without actually saying any words. Because that's totally what I would have done.

But Angelina voted with her to get Lyrsa out. It’s funny that Natalie was trying to do the same thing to someone else, and when it blew up in her face, she didn’t even acknowledge the one person that still voted her way.

She must have really infuriated everyone to get such a poor edit in the 5 episodes she survived. I don’t remember anyone having as brutal an edit in recent history. Not one redeeming moment shown really.

She said she didn't know if Angelina voted with her or not.

So she really is clueless socially.

Yeah, that's pretty unusual.

As much as I am amused that 2 goliaths were votes out in a row w majority of each of the tribes- I think they did the tribe switch too soon. I am having a hard tine knowing any of these folks and remembering which tribe they came from.

Totally agree about switching tribes too early! Or splitting them up into 3 tribes, I hate that. Unless its obvious like the big hulk type guys being on Goliath, I don't remember who is on what original tribe anymore. Just keep it at 2 tribes til they get down to 12 (or even 10), then merge. Less confusing for dumb people like me.

I assumed they did it because the two medical losses to the Davids skewed things. IIRC, I read that they can change the timing of tribe swaps and merges to react to things like this.

I was so relieved when Natalie was voted out. The whole jacket thing was, I don’t know, annoying I guess. Angelina was the cause of that problem of Natalie’s, but at least she admitted it when Natalie asked her to. But the way Natalie was treating the other tribe members about the jacket,:angryfire. I did not like her at all, and I’m glad to see her go.

Apparently jackets are hot commodities. From Natalie's post-boot interview:

What was equally shocking is that [Jeremy] came to me about a half hour before Tribal and said, "Well, if you get voted out tonight, and I'm not saying it's you, but if it is, can you will me your jacket?"

Because asking for a jacket is a bad, bad thing.

Angelina says that she knew everyone was voting for Natalie but she voted for Lyrsa because she was hoping to con Natalie out of her jacket. And now Natalie says that she was on to that all along. Uh, that wasn't what you said right after Tribal, Natalie, but okay.

I am sorry to see Lyrsa go, as I thought she was pretty funny, and her exit comments were hilarious .

I am not sure why Mike and Nick kept Angelina, because they are right about her playing too hard if the previews are anything to go by (they usually aren't in terms of boots). I especially don't get Nick, but from what Angelina said, they already had a deal to boot Lyrsa next if she went along with the Natalie vote.

I really like Gabby and hope she stays a while. She and Christian have done a lot of pre-merge narration, which is usually not a good omen for post-merge success, but I like both of them and hope they stay.

Every time Allison appears, I wonder who she is. It always takes me a minute to realize that she is the doctor from the first episode.

I was surprised Angelina didn't try to make another pity play for Lyrsa's jacket. Unless she did and they just didn't edit that part in. Angelina can go next. Don't like her.

I suspect Angelina was kept around as a shield for the rest of the tribe since she’s not going to be trusted now. Lots of side alliances and it looks like Nick is going to be sitting pretty with all of these side alliances. Christian is seen as too strong and I do think Dan will end up going home with two idols in his pocket at some point.

I found it interesting that Jeff revealed the vote was unanimous. Do they read all the votes at council? I thought before he’s said things like ‘no need to read the other votes’, so I’d think he gave away info this time.

Damn. I wish they would have voted off Angelina. I really dislike her. :P

So was that plaque really a clue to an Idol or an Advantage or something? The way they focused on it made me think that it was. Because whoever that was that mentioned looking for one, she was right ... there is always something hidden at the merge feast, isn't there?

After all of these seasons of Survivor, I find myself only half watching this one, while doing something else. I have no idea why they all targeted Elizabeth, and don't care. These survivors should be separated back into two teams again, with the name of one team being "Annoying as hell" and the other being "What was your name again?" Angelina, since she's from Reno's sister city of Sparks, is of course the annoying twatwaffle. I recall the names Allison, Christian and Gabby, and not necessarily what they've done or what they look like. The rest are just, there.

I have never missed this show, and I have not missed an episode this season. I am entertained when watching - then I don't come to this thread nor look at previously.tv as I usually do. The season is not bad. Not sure if I am getting bored.
I do like Gabby. But Gabby and Christian seem to be on the radar. Interesting how they are getting rid of the annoying folks.
And I am still not sure who everyone is. They guy that is between the 2 groups - he could go to the end.
And yes - I hope Dan goes home with his 2 idols. lol

I am enjoying this season a lot. Christian has really grown on me, and I like Gabby except when she is crying about being on the bottom. I think it would be hilarious if Dan goes home with 2 idols in his pocket. Has that ever happened before? I know some people have gone home with one idol, but two would be epic.

This season has been a little spotty, but I really enjoyed this episode. Christian lives to fight another day, though he is not under anyone's radar at this point. I think Davie was the MVP of this episode... He weighed the pros and cons of each advantage really well and guessed right to throw a vote to someone other than Angelina, the obvious Goliath target. Yeesh, Angelina sure is entitled to grovel for Dan's idol, after groveling for the jacket of everyone voted out before her. On the other hand, John was a really good sport, and his exit speech about the brochacho blindside being himself was LOL.

Yeah, great episode and a really big surprise. I actually thought John was getting a really strong edit to that point, and definitely didn’t see it coming.

Angelina’s going to escape all of this unscathed for a while I bet, and I still think Nick is sitting pretty, playing both sides really well. Christian would still be my target, and the preview discussing getting Dan out probably means he lives to see another week.

While I still don't know who all of these people are, and who has idols at this point, I actually enjoyed this episode and paid attention more than I have been this season. The guy who threw the idol on Christian, and then voted John, bravo!

So when did Nick, Christian and Davie concoct this scheme to vote out John, and which of them calculated that Dan would throw his idol in for Angelina? Very smart thinking there. I hate to assume it's Christian; Nick and Davie seem pretty smart in their own rights.

Loved John's reaction--always nice to see people play the game as a game.

I definitely don't remember seeing any discussions about that cause as Jeff started to read off Angelina's name I was going 'so now what is gonna happen when no one gets a vote', then bam .... there's John's name. I am too stupid to play this game because I would have never thought of splitting the votes just in case an Idol pops up for Angelina.

I kind of assumed that they knew that Dan had an idol and that he had said he would play it for Angelina if it came down to it (although it was obvious he didn't want to). They have their mole, Alex, to keep them informed and the plot allowed Alex to vote for Christian without outing his alliance with the Davids to the Goliaths.

But maybe not. Very risky otherwise, but a pretty solid plan if they did know, even if Dan hadn't played his idol for Angelina.

Only the editors know. But I did rewind to look at people's faces when John was voted out. Carl, Nick and Davie all had big smiles on their faces, so I think they were the ones who set everything up perfectly. Christian and Gabby seemed to be looking around trying to figure out what had happened. So much for the two of them being such rocket scientists!

It would be good game play to keep Angelina around...right to the very end actually, because she's not going to get any jury votes! :D

Yeesh, Angelina sure is entitled to grovel for Dan's idol, after groveling for the jacket of everyone voted out before her.

I haven't seen Angelina as entitled. Rather, constantly...desperate!

That may be, but Christian was one of the people who voted for John (or Jon, as he spelled it), so he was clearly in the loop. Maybe he couldn't believe it worked. I think all of the Davids were in on the plan; I just wonder who came up with it.

I thought it was hilarious that Dan wasted his idol to protect Angelina (and the goliaths) when it was John who was the real target. If that was part of the strategy, it was quite brilliant.

One of the best blindsides ever. And 2 idols flushed out
There r too many idols/advantages, so happy 2 r gone
Angelina is playing, but just doesn’t get it. Many r playing
