2019 Golden Globes Red Carpet and Awards Ceremony

Lol comedy is used loosely as the favorite isn’t one either.

Yes. I saw Green Book, so I know that the categorizations are questionable. I'm just wondering if Vice is like Green Book or whether it really is a comedy.

Well, now they're playing music and then stopped when they couldn't get the guy off the stage. We might be here a while, lol. Ok, he is saying good things, but....

I think that producer was super annoying and rude in his speech, and what he was saying wasn't that great or deep or insightful anyway. I hope I don't have to hear him give another speech from now to after Oscar.

It is not like Greenbook at all. It is about all the terrible things Cheney did but it is wrapped in humor (and a lot of other things). A serious topic is presented in a funny way.

Gotcha. I asked the ticket person at the theater and she insisted that it was not a comedy at all.

Haven't sen the films, but I'm kind of glad. From reviews I've heard that Gaga is spectacular when her character is performing, but other than that her acting is just meh.
Also, loved Michael Douglas congratulating Glenn.

There were many chuckles in the theatre throughout. I LOL'ed at the last scene. It has an unorthodox way of presenting the story. It is not chronological.

Glen Close looks shocked by her win. Is she crying?
Looked her up - this is her first major award for a movie role (she's won for TV roles).

Also, after her mentioning her parents, I looked up her father who (according to Wikipedia) "was an American surgeon who played a major role in stemming a 1976 outbreak of the Ebola virus in Zaire, the first major outbreak of the viral hemorrhagic fever in Central Africa, and preventing its further spread." His Wikipedia biography is fascinating.

Glenn Close not only steals Lady Gaga's thunder, but gives a moving speech that immediately moves her to the head of the pack for her first Oscar.

That speech was wonderful. "A Star is Born" has received a lot of hype, but I think there are a lot of people who liked the movie, but do not think it is worthy of Oscars.

I really hope Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody ends up like Meryl Streep did for Iron Lady. Movie with mixed reviews and historical inaccuracies but praised lead performance that wins the major awards.

YAY RAMI!!!!

And LOVE the end of his speech, "this is for, and because of you gorgeous!' to Freddie.

That's surprising to me. I think of Glenn Close as being a movie actor first. "Fatal Attraction" is what comes to mind first when I think of her.

Well from many insider picks I saw, Glenn Close and Lady Gaga were the favorites. Everyone and I mean everyone said Glenn Close gives one of her best performances ever and I think she's been robbed before.

Rami looking awkward on the stage as the only cast member up there. Odd that the cast of the best picture didn't go up on stage with the producers, except Rami (we know Lucy Boynton is in the audience...)

Wow. "Bohemian Rhapsody" winning is a bigger upset than Rami Malek winning. I liked the movie and it has done very well around the world, but I did not think of it as a great movie. It would have been cool if "Black Panther" had won, but I didn't expect that.

Now THAT was an upset.
Did anyone think Bohemian Rhapsody would win best picture?

Considering the critics were extremely split on it, it is a surprise. But then again the HFPA is not a critics organization, just print/tv reporters.

Only 20 minutes over.

I liked Bohemian Rhapsody alot but they're were more deserving films in my opinion.

I still think Black Panther should have won and may win the Oscars.

I am surprised and happy that my two favorite movies won the BP awards - Bohemian Rhapsody and Green book.

I had also enjoyed 'Vice' but I knew it wouldn't win.
