U.S. Ladies [#23]: Triple Axels? What a Novice Idea!

Looking at Nationals competitors from last year, filling in some blanks. I am assuming Franchesca Chiera is no longer competing? I haven't seen her all season.
 
Argh!!! I'm sorry to hear that if it's true. I thought she had a lot of potential. It's a shame if she's not competing anymore.

Rephrase: if one is doing something for a set period of time and can't make a living, switch to something where one can make a living. Because otherwise such often become bitter and angry at the "evil rich" and expect them to pay higher taxes so that there are more services that "government pay for" and the money come from taxes.

What's "good art" and "what sells" is very subjective. Many artists who don't make it, blame "society for not recognizing their genius", and more likely than not vote for socialist programmes. Which means, he/she "the artist" gets to do what he feels like doing "the art, la-di-da".. and the others, who might have also wanted to be artists, chose to be the boring accountants and programmers, and they are paying taxes, to pay for free healthcare and subsidized housing of those who consider themselves "genius artists" misunderstood by the "uncultured pedestrians".. :D
 
Some times, I really do wish I was a genius artist who was misunderstood by the uncultured pedestrians...but understood just enough to keep doing what I'm doing. :bribe:

I loved seeing her at Regionals and Liberty in the summer. Her jumps in person were so big with great "snap." I can still remember watching her skate Intermediate at my daughter's first Regionals and enjoying her program so much. I think Brynne McIsaac was in that group, as well. Up through Novice, she still skated with her eye glasses on. :)

I have to say, as a non figure skater myself I'm learning a ton about how the developmental levels work and what healthy coaching looks like. I'm all for the idea of credentialing coaches to teach the harder jumps, to instill good technique and hopefully prevent injuries for very young kids too.

Lol you have no idea how "free social services" in the US actually work, do you? And I didn't quote it, but you have no idea how PhD programs work either. And I remember your completely inaccurate notions of public schools from a while back too.

For Tennell's short program, Richaud chose "Rebirth" by Hi-Finesse featuring Egyptian-British singer Natacha Atlas, from the 2014 thriller Lucy.
"Many times when I work with skaters, I make them perform to music other than (what) they will skate to, to make them feel different aspects of movement," Richaud said. "Last year, I put this on, and Bradie said, 'This is good, I like it.' I said, 'OK, we will keep it for next year.'"
"When we went on to the ice and starting working on (the short program), it was an organic process," he added. "We did it naturally, we had the music and we didn't need anything else."

The result is a fiercely driving program that requires Tennell to skate full-throttle for most of the routine.
"At the beginning, when we first choreographed it, (the choreography) felt very different, but I like to challenge myself," Tennell, who practiced the movements in front of a mirror, said. "That's the best way to grow."
"Why does it look so modern? Because I am French," Richaud laughed. "It was really funny last year; everyone was saying, 'Oh, she is doing Cinderella.' And Bradie is really very far from that. She has a lot of personality, she has a lot of power, and she works hard."

Not how it works. Not a single person would starve. We could easily import it for cheaper. It's pure political pork.

Now, I happen to actually think we should support small farms because of the intangibles that a living farming landscape gives. But in terms of financial logic those intangibles cost so much more tax money than the intangibles of culture.
 
Is it time to panic? The SP woes and UR issues continue to plague the USA ladies. I'm worried both Bradie and Mariah will fail to make top 10 at Worlds. Could drop down to only 1 spot for next year's Worlds!

Has USA ladies ever failed to make top 10 at Worlds? We may have to go back to the 1930s or 1940s? :eek: This makes a great trivia question.
