Sorry but...you have to be kidding. Alysa is cute but she’s like your neighbor’s kid tap dancing at a Dolly Dinkle Academy recital. Kamila is like an exquisite porcelain ballerina in St Petersburg Vaganova Ballet Academy.
So here I am scrolling along catching up with the comments in the U.S. ladies’ thread, agreeing, disagreeing, per the usual ... when I land on this comment...

Dolly Dinkle Academy recital?! 😆

Nope, I'm not kidding. Alysa is tiny and cute, but girlfriend is polished. Her movements aren't excessive or flailing or incomplete, and they flow very well from start to finish. She hears the music and expresses beyond just the movement. Alysa presents remarkably well for someone so young.

Kamila has a more mature look to her presentation and she's lovely to watch; however, there's a bit of a lack of connection to her movement and the music that plays. I fault the choreography/choreographer. Someone should be directing her to slow down and let her movements breathe rather than rushing on to the next movement. It gives her skating a somewhat choppy appearance at times that's at odds with the soft music she skates to. Her expression is a bit cold/removed when she skates as well, but that's okay. It's something she will gain with time I'm sure.

Kamila is a lovely skater but, like a lot of younger skaters, she needs work on her musical expression, connection to her movements and her projection. Alysa is a joyful skater but needs to work on her skating skills, speed and flow. Nothing wrong with that. Both are young and have time to grow. :)

THIS. Objectively, Kamila does have visibly better skating skills and harder choreography, and better quality in the elements. Alysa could use more power and have more flow on her jump landings (her biggest flaw), but there is something special about the way she projects. Her short program makes me smile. Her skating is genuine and she believes what she is presenting. Kamila is a vision but her skating does not touch me.

Absolutely loved this video of a mic'ed Adam Rippon. Enjoy!

Mariah also got the PSA Award for her FS performance (announced last week when we were kinda busy discussing other things)

Cross-posting from 'Russian dolls' thread:

That video was about the Russians, so it would have been weird to mention Cui or Harell. But if you go back to the summer there were TSL videos where they talked about Cui (I don't remember anything about Harrell, I know the name but honestly couldn't pick her out of a line-up.) and her ankle injury, that she was still training on it when she had been told not to, that the physio took her skates away, and her father had her use an old pair of boots anyways.

 Lord no! The interfering parent who helps to scuttle his daughter's career. :(

How bad is the damage to Ting's ankle? Will we see her back at full strength? Ankle injuries can be difficult and recurring. :wuzrobbed

I heard Ting's Dad was intense - but that's insane.

Not that I haven't seen other parents do similar things. Those similar things weren't career ending, but did turn the skaters in question from National qualifiers at the lower levels to not making it out of regionals... Hopefully this TSL rumor isn't true.

Do we have a reliable source for the story about the skaters father or is it only the trashy skating lesson? . Because if that’s the only source then you might assume that at least part of it’s made up so you will listen to it and talk about it

Dave doesn’t believe in letting the truth get in the way of his sensationalism

Dave has spread rumors about Ting every summer for the last two years. None of them have come to pass so whether he has insight here or not, we've no evidence that he does.

I think the main question though (at least the one I have) is whether or not it's true that Ting's father made her jump in old boots after physio specialists took her skates away so that she would give her ankle time to heal?

The medical doctors would have more insight on the current state of Ting's ankle, and full recovery prospects. But how well she'll be able to come back is something we'll have to wait and see.

I would trust Ting's words about HER OWN skating than that of a gossip channel. Per her Instagram, Ting stated that she only began spinning and jumping this month. I'm sure with the 2022 Olympics looming her team/dad is not going to jeopardize her chances by mandating that she jump regardless considering that an off-ice jump was what caused the re-injured.

On a lighter note, here is Isabeau Levito's, silver medalist at the 2020 Junior Championships, terrific Free Skate to "Malaguena." Levito will be eligible for the Junior Grand Prix this upcoming season. What are your thoughts?

I adore Isabeau Levito for the last 3 years, can't wait for her to skate internationally, hope she gets 2 JGP spots.
She has the right look, the right figure, the right skating style, wonderful expressiveness, superb form and positions, and over all very good "energy" when she skates..... She, to me, is an "ultimate skater", the kind of ladies i like to see on ice. The girl has the right spunk and the right "tah-dah"!!!

My favorite programmes she skated few years back... her skating makes me happy - how she moves, her much, her costumes..

I also loved her SP at Nationals... one of my fav cuban rhythms (after "20 anos") - "Quizas, Quizas,Quizas" and then she ads "Sway!".
just lovely!

She always looks like the enjoys skating!

Her technique reminds me a great deal of Sasha Cohen's.

I am also liking and watching Mia Kalin, novice. St. Moritz club. I like her form and style, and her figure, and she is learning (and landing quads). She is in the same rink with Alysa Liu, in Oakland, and here are some videos.
