It's more about taste really.

For example; obviously Hanyu is insanely talented. I totally appreciate him on an objective level. He just doesn't do it for me stylistically.

I once posted an opinion that didn't involve complete and utter fawning over him, and got PM's of hate  :scream: It was...interesting.

I literally get hate mail  :wuzrobbed :drama:

He isn't the only example, but you get the idea ;)
It's quite amazing but also great that mostly we , ttw fans, have same favourites and same skaters we don't care for :40beers:

Btw, once I got a real hate mail on Russian board for not praising Ilinykh (I said something about her shape and lifts technique) :shuffle:
And as you probably now I'm a huge fan of her when she is ON

I was going to wait and watch pairs later today to be unspoiled. I couldn't stand it and checked the results as soon as I woke up. Now, I can watch. I will be zen if Sui/Han win OGM as long as Sav/Mass and Stol/Klim skate clean. Then I won't have any doubts.

I knew Turskaya was going to slay. There may be an all Eteri ladies team at the OGM and I'm fine with that. I've accepted the inevitable for Pogo, Rad and Tuk.

Kostner has improved with every outing. Europeans is going to be interesting to see where she plays spoiler with the Russians.

Voronov. Get down with your bad self. Now, just don't blow the free, boy. He skates again at SkateAmerica and could be on the podium given the rest of the competition. I will laugh all the way through December if he makes the GPF. But I'd also likely win the lottery. But, I'd throw Aliev under the bus in a heartbeat for the OldMan to make the team.

Deniss. You can really see Lambiel's influence, but they need to send him back to Urmanov for a while to get his jump technique back now that he's grown up. Lambiel can't do that.

I'm going to cut Aliev some slack. The boy's first year in seniors and he's still got some cooking to do. But, he's going to be fine.

I have a soft spot for both Radio and Tuk, I love their personalities, interviews, Instagram accounts and etc but in terms of skating I think I like Tsurskaya much more than them. Her jumps are to die for, she actually has some transitions, she isn't sloppy and doesn't look like a junior who has just turned Senior. Of course she still has few things to work on but that SP is really great :respec:

Of course you love Elena. We all do :glamor:

But some things just need saying.

The rabid obsessive fans can be good for a laugh though

SavMass, StoKli and SuiHan podium would be dreamy :swoon:

I just want Ksenia/Fedor to finally start skating and achieving up to their peak level. Other than 15 GPF it's been a heartbreaking quad :(

I can definitely see myself liking Tsurksaya. Intrigued to see her LP.

Poor Liza. My fave. I fear she peaked too late for Sochi and too soon for 2018 :wuzrobbed

And poor Radio. Her career hasn't gone the way I expected. I remember in 2013 an FSUer assuring me that the 14-18 quad would be dominated by Gold, Lipnitskaia and Radionova... :shuffle:

... I refuse to give up on Pogo :glamor:

This needs to happen. Soon.

Indeed, there's a reason why we are in #ttw, our excellent taste is an important feature!

I feel just the same way as you do @Loves_Shizuka with Hanyu, I really like him, but he doesn't do it for me like my favourites. I can't really put my finger on what it is. It's just...nice. Nothing more. But what I do like about him is the Japanes mentality (I'm in general a big fan of Japan the country and Japan the figure skating team, no surprise). There's no excuses. After winning something, world record++ "Now what?" Answer: "Now I need to work even harder. I will go home and work even harder to improve". Crazy, but I prefer that to the party people;) But, as you also know, Uno is my man, as Dai is no longer around...sigh

BUT

That being said, I never got Michelle Kwan either. I thought she was dull.... And I have so been there with the haters too. Back in 2000ish I was sometimes blogging about skating championships, and I wrote a lot of stuff about a lot of skaters, faves and non-faves. But the Michelle Kwan-fans were the only ones sending me hate mails. How did I dare writing their queen wasn't queen? @Ka3sha you have my sympathy:40beers: And since this forum...oh well...the hardcore fans and all...It's much more fun to post in our thread:lol:

My god, I remember the MK competitive days :drama: (under my first username!)

I was the same: totally appreciated all she did - and now probably appreciate her a whole lot more. But at the time she never really did anything for me. Whilst others spoke of her skating as though it was some sort of religious experience. I never understood what people saw and what I was missing!

I got a fair few hate mails back then as well

Kitty officially 8th behind Ogoreltseva in SP:

so if she she doesn't medal here no nationals for her ? :fragile:
why are Samodurova, Kostornaya, Panenkova competing here when they are guaranteed in seniors nationals :mitchell:

Because they can, and they are hungry for blood. This is Russian Hunger Games after all and each year is getting crazier . Its up to Kitty and Sima to actually beat them and hold them back but if not then :gallopin1:gallopin1:gallopin1

Tarusina may also challenge them for that 18th spot, she is ahead of both Sima and Kitty right now..
And she will most likely take part at 5th RC event in Moscow as well

It's a pretty long break between junior grand prix events and JGPF, I guess they just need few competitions to keep in shape

That and just send all the Russians to Euros. It's not as if anybody besides Kostner is going to challenge them. Let them play!

The power of Morozov...
His daughter has already qualified for Nats, she and her partner do have a very nice supporting group with Tarasova, who is Annabel's godmother, and Leonid Khachaturov, who is Bagin's grandfather, has a senior position in RFSF and sometimes judge few national events :shuffle:

Only Perkova could have chosen ''Bla Bla Cha-Cha'' for her music :cheer::glamor:

Can you imagine someone else skaing to it?

Ok. maybe Bobrova / Solovyov, their SD has similar vibe.
