I'm so glad for them, they seem to be a very nice and lovely couple! Plus Ksenia seems to really enjoy working with the kids and Kirill continues skating and hopefully will get to Worlds and Olympics (Spanish Fed )

Former world silver medallist already surpassed by at least two generations of younger teammates both technically and artistically and yet continuing loong after she last made the major internationals teams with no hopes of ever making it again and regressing each year in every way .

On Alena's favor at least she still gets GP assignments and qualifies to Nationals plus it's only been 3 seasons since her last major comp (2014 euros) . Suguri agonized for a whole quadrennial stuck in sectionals after she was dropped out of the GP circuit but Leonova is getting there.

Somehow I thought that Suguri was retired after 2006 already. I guess it speaks for itself.

Time for a quick Suguri late-career crash course! She did fabulous things in her late 20s!

Her 2010-2011 LP to Song of Scheherazade is my favorite Fumie program! So sexy. Watch immediately. And one of the most hot costumes (in competition) ever! Morozov at his best.

2009-2010 SP to Canon, much better than Kostner's version! Another amazing dress, this time with great drama makeup!

2012 Oberstdorf Gala, I'm fairly certain the beginning is a parody of Vartmann's new Instagram fashion/makeup career. Also one of the more awkward costume changes you'll see.

2009 Worlds, she finished 8th (albeit undermarked). Finishing in 7th place, at her first Worlds championships, was Alena Leonova. The world works in strange ways, my friends....

After a very respectable showing at 2009 Worlds I can understand Suguri wanting to try for Vancouver but staying after for the Sochi cycle was madness. After she didn't get any GP events in 2011-2012 I still wanted her to have one final swan song moment but year after year it was getting worse.

Now she's competing in adult competitions so I guess she truly loves skating, good for her.
