DWTS Season 27

loved evanna and alexis and tinashe and Juan pablo, and joe is getting there...

Again, I only watched sporadically, but loved Milo (no clue who he is and wow, only 17?!) and Evanna. It freaked me out that Nancy danced on a fractured foot.

So I haven't watched (not airing Tuesdays in Canada), but I was reading a recap. Seems almost everyone stayed about the same in scores. It's crazy that half the teams had to do two dances last week (same style at least), and everyone had to do two completely different dances on week two. HUGE kudos to all of them for that.

So results...
Jeopardy: John and Emma, Danelle and Artem
Eliminated: Danelle and Artem

Also, apparently there was some wonkiness with the phone voting last night, so the results were based on judges scores and online votes only (speaking of... for the first time in years, it seems Canada is unable to vote online)

As quite as it's kept, I'm more excited for DWTS Juniors than the adult one, and most relevant social media (Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter) activity I read seem to agree. Of course, I know several (Tristan, Sage, Lev, Jake, JT) from other internet things. I haven't really watched it since Season 16 (and then 18). Way too prop-focused, gimmicky, little content in the dances compared to much previous seasons.

Just watched the episode, and I had to giggle at Milo and Witney's reaction to the message from Celine Dion. I've read things comparing him (personality-wise) to Frankie Muniz, who won over a lot of fans his season. I hope he sticks around long enough to get invited on the tour (and to be in contention for the win)

Also, speaking of Frankie, anyone else notice that now that he's co-host of DWTS Juniors, he's being referred to as season 25 runner-up, instead of 3rd place finisher? Interesting. But I absolutely love how much he loves dancing.

Evanna's ever-changing hair length is confusing me. She has a bob in her pre-recorded interviews, but even in her rehearsals her hair is long. Is she wearing hair extensions during rehearsals and performance, and taking them out for interviews? I feel like Keo's best dance is the jive, since he did really well here, and also with Jodie Sweetin. (Also, apparently Keo is only 28 - I thought he was older!)

I'm wondering when Hayley is going to be upgraded to a pro - she has the Hough connection (has been dating Derek for a while), and is the standout in the troupe (and also helps out in ways like dancing with Lindsay on her shoulders last season when Lindsay was paired with Kareem, or getting cut in half by Sharna and Bobby this week)

The dance of the night was Tinashe and Brandon (Tinashe also had the absolute best costume of the night). Great dance! And speaking of costumes... yikes on Mary Lou and Sasha.

Sad for Danelle and Artem. If Brandon gets a ringer his first season as a pro, I really hope that Artem gets a frontrunner next season. Also, when I hear Luck Be a Lady, I now think of Javier Fernandez.

Forgot to mention on Monday - LOVED the troupe dancing to Newsies for one of the breaks. ALL THE NEWSIES PLEASE! Also enjoyed video message from Mark.

Finally, I loved Bruno's bedazzled blazer.

I also like Hayley & I'm really liking new pro Brandon but I'm not that enamored of Tinisha. I just can't put my finger on why.

So far my favs are Demarcus Ware & Lindsey, Evanna Lynch & Keo (he's really improved), Alexis Ren & Alan (love him!), Milo & Witney, & Mary Lou - I think she would be doing better with a different partner, Sasha's choreography is just so-so. I think Bobby Bones is a buffoon which is a real shame because I really want Sharna to win a mirror-ball but of course she won't with this partner.

I'm enjoying this season more than I thought. I like Marcus and purple grape guy and Pablo. As far as poor Sharna is concerned, when will she get a better partner. Hers is just ???? to me. She should have been runner up with Charlie to goddess Meryl but that's history. Still, she's due for a win. Nancy and Mary Lou have the Worst Costumes! I noticed that Nancy stood beside Danelle and was explaining what was going on during the show. Nice touch.

Did anyone watch the Junior version tonight? I liked how the judges were all encouraging in their comments (when they first announced the Junior version, I had visions of Len making a kid cry) but it's kind of uncomfortable to see kids put through the reality show crap. But most of them are in show business, and they signed up willingly. I'm bummed about the chef kid getting voted off so early. I like Akosh, hope he goes far.

The show wasn't too bad. I thought Jordan and Frankie were good as the hosts, and it was cute to see all the familiar pros being nervous coaches.
I was really impressed with Val as a judge. Very encouraging to the kids, but also offering constructive criticism. Mandy was decent as well. Adam was useless.

My favourites so far (don't know their names yet):
- Stevie Wonder's son
- The skateboarder
- The girl from Avengers
- Spelling bee kid

The avengers girl snapped! Loved her!

Useless Adam, yes, but he was tolerable. Pleasantly surprised with Val and his spot-on judging.

Poor Lev and chef girl.

Tristan is a really talented dancer. I knew this from my previous knowledge of him, but he is great. My friend is a dancer and I had the pleasure of going to a Nuvo with her and he was performing. Poor him. Boo Boo did nothing but bounce her hip but she had great confidence.

Ziegler’s dance prowess came through but a foxtrot that was not. I get that it’s the American smooth style but three or four bars in hold? Give me a break!

Akash and Kamri are so cute.

Was not expecting Mandla to he that good. Brightyn is also a very talented ballroom dancer.

Frankie is a good enough host. Jordan is...meh.

I'm cutting Adam some slack because he's never been a judge before, and ballroom isn't exactly a language he's fluent in, even after winning his season of DWTS. Mandy has some experience as a choreographer, yes, but her work has been almost exclusively in the jazz/contemporary vein, so ballroom is fairly new to her as well. I was expecting Val to be on point in his commentary - he's the only actual ballroom dancer among the judges, after all. I was pleasantly surprised by how kind he was though. All three of them were very encouraging, which was nice to see.

My thoughts on the dances:

Marylou - nice dance, but she dances like a gymnast - not flowing between movements, just kind of hit a pose then suddenly in another pose. Nancy was okay. I'd rather have her still in than Joe, but not surprising.

Still love Milo. Alexis' lifts were amazing, but she did zero dancing and no real movement, unless it was Alan catching or throwing her. I liked Evanna's dance, though I found her movements a bit sharp at times. I got the idea behind her dress, but didn't love the execution of it (though I loved that it was Ravenclaw blue).

I am liking Juan Pablo, but I don't know if I'd have given that a 10 (or a 30). I'm thrown off when he speaks, because he really overdoes his accent on Fuller House, but it's much more mild in real life.

During John's dance, I have no idea how he did because I was watching Emma the whole time. Heartbreaking story, though. I also thought this was Bobby's best dance by far. Some synchronization issues, but his movement was decent. Tinashe was good (can't believe she was in jeopardy!) but her hip action wasn't fully completed.

I'm reading some outrage over Demarcus' scores, but while the lifts were mindblowing, I found his actual dancing movements a bit awkward at times. Those lifts, though!!!

Very enjoyable show last night. All the stories were interesting. Bobby was at least tolerable without the stupid antics but he's still not a dancer. He should go next. In fact, I still can't believe he didn't go 1st.

I just love Evanna's personality - her dance was underscored I think. And I loved Alexis & Alan's dance.

So next week is trio dances. Partner info is available, though not all the styles or songs yet...

  • John & Emma (Joey Fatone)
  • DeMarcus & Lindsay – paso doble (Rashad Jennings - a bit surprised he's not with Emma)
  • Alexis & Alan (Maddie Ziegler)
  • Joe & Jenna (Jordan Kimball, apparently he's also from The Bachelor/ette?)
  • Tinashe & Brandon (Amy Purdy - not quite sure what I think of this grouping. I'm wondering if they'd had Amy lined up for Danelle and just paired her with another team?)
  • Milo & Witney – salsa (Riker Lynch - didn't love him on his season, but this could be a great pairing)
  • Mary Lou & Sasha (Nastia Liukin - this could be really good, especially since Sasha is familiar with dancing with Nastia from when he filled in for Derek)
  • Juan Pablo & Cheryl (Melissa Rycroft - I feel like she's a bit more rigid than he is, so not too sure how this one will go)
  • Evanna & Keo (Scarlett Byrne - she's Pansy Parkinson from the Harry Potter series. She's also engaged to Hugh Hefner's son and has posed nude for Playboy)
  • Bobby & Sharna – cha-cha to something by MC Hammer (Lindsay Sterling - not too sure how she'll match with them, unless they are going on quirkiness...)

I'm glad to see Paso Doble in there. One of my favourite dance styles. I hate that the show has focused more on contemporary these last few years over the classics like Paso.
And speaking of contemporary (of which I'm not a fan), this video explaining the moves is hilarious.

OMG what the ever lovin' feck was that!!!!!!!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Now how am I supposed to 'go to sleep Bich' after watching that!!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
The term 'wawaha' needs to enter the common lexicon (just don't give the audience a quick look at it!) Can we get 'Contemporary Eric' on the show? Or Bich?
