It's our fault...

The person who originally posted the videos on Instagram said this about her meeting with Gracie:

"superangiekatja@timpomares it was so incredible. She is absolutely the sweetest. She thought it was neat that I skate. She wanted to know how long etc. And then her Skating!! So smooth with incredible flow. Go check out the practice videos I put up."

The person clearly was having the time of her life sharing the ice with Gracie, and this is what it turned into.

But seriously, WTF? Hälvin and especially Naurits are seriously Estonia's best two skaters. Helery finally made the Worlds mins.

This makes no sense, and now we're stuck with @Jeschke's favorite STD at Nebelhorn.

ETA I just did some er, research on Hälvin's instagram, and I wonder if she is retiring or injured or maybe just not skating this season?

Her profile is private for only select ubers like me, but yesterday she posted a picture of her skating her SP with the caption "passion that I will never forget" (translated from Estonian). And then someone commented "I hope you will come back for Nice."



I wanted another Celine program! I hope she sticks around, we desperately need her appeal!

My heart is breaking with you! I saw the Instagram-post and thought it was just the normal cryptic stuff and, "Nah, it can't be, why would anyone quit in an Olympic year..." but then? Her Insta is a lot of dog and posing lately...

(I found the videos via some adult skaters insta-page (or maybe it's the same as linked here, or maybe I'm just dizzy...) but I follow a lot of these adults and they post videos of themselves, and at first I thought that was another one those adults doing singles, like myself ....then I realized it was GG....)

However, I also do not feel the need to kick her while she is down, especially when she was actually having fun skating. I think it is wonderful that she was playing with opposite direction jump combinations.

@bardtoob I'm sorry! My post wasn't directed at you, but at everyone else who keeps saying Gracie is done. No way I'm the one who's kicking her while she is down, I love her and I've cheered for her from the bitter start, when a whole bunch of crazy people was like "oh, evil Gracie, she LOOKED at Ashley in a CERTAIN way", "Oh, Gracie did this, Gracie did that". Sorry if it all came across wrong! My fandom of her is also the reason why I was so shocked when I realised I had misunderstood the video. I just want Gracie to find the joy of skating again and as I wrote, come back and show to every doubters face how good she is. If it's realistic or not, I don't know. I refuse to give up hope yet. And I too loved the jumps in different directions.

Dear bardtoob,
it's nice to see 'new' faces in this thread! If you followed this thread, you should have come to the conclusion, that this is by far not the most serious thread. Some skaters, with unfulfilled potential (in our minds) join our 'elite' club and are cheered by us. One of those is Gracie. News/updates of those skaters end up here; if it's about programs, switching the discipline, ditching another partner and so on.
I am very happy for the woman, who, as you said, obviously had the time of her life meeting/seeing Gracie. She decided to post the videos public to everyone, that's how they ended up here in a skating forum.
I mentioned it in various discussions before, a forum is a place of discussion; you cannot enter and only pick the good things outta it, only the nice words. But there was not even a bad word in here. There were 'only' 3 responses to the original post in this thread, neither of them was bad.
I do not want this discussion to go on back and forth in here, so let's conclude: Gracie is a public person, this was a public post which ended in a public forum in a thread where everyone wants Gracie to make a great comeback and where the focus at this time was more on the Nebelhorn entries and the retirement of Maria Artemieva than on that Gracie video.

I hope you do not stop coming by this thread, every post in our not-so-serious-look-at-the-skating-world is appreciated

#TeamTrainwreck Extraordinary Meeting regarding Maria Artemieva
August 28th, 2017 - Fiji Islands

Due to the recent retirement of Maria Artemieva an extraordinary meeting was held to evaluate her direct selection into the #teamtrainwreck - Hall of Fame. The meeting was held and attended by bossman and vice-bossman.

To evaluate fairly a look in the past was necessary. On November 14th, 2014 a legendary ladies line-up was presented at Rostelecom Cup. Among the entries of this event we had combined 9 #teamtrainwreck members/intruders (Artemieva, Stavitskaya, Brezinova, Park, Chartrand, Hongo, Helgesson, Nagasu, Pogorilaya). With Maria Artemieva being first in the short program starting orders and Maria Stavitskaya being second, @Hanna spoke her important words:

Trainwreck Marias to start with

The term was created.
It almost took another year until on November 5th, 2015 @Yehudi opened the first #teamtrainwreck thread. On November 8th, 2015, Maria Artemieva led those skaters who were first put onto the #teamtrainwreck members list.

Maria Artemievas importance to this thread is essential. She was not only responsible for the naming, she embodied the classic #teamtrainwreck skater: her skating was stunning, her jumps big (if on) and her costumes breathtaking. But above all: she was heartbreaking. It was gut-wrenching to see her potential never got realized.

For her significance to this thread and her ongoing guidance, the #teamtrainwreck leadership grants Maria Artemieva RUS direct introduction into the #teamtrainwreck - Hall of Fame.

The decision is ultimate, becomes effective instantly and is incontrovertible.

Substitutional for #teamtrainwreck @Ka3sha delivered the news at a small ceremony to Maria Artemieva. In her honour Viktor Adoniev presented a glorious, tearful performance in hot pants and a white transparant shirt to BoyzIIMen's 'End of the Road':

In her acceptance speech Maria Artemieva was overwhelmed to get included in this elite club. She thanked her longtime coach Evgenic Rukavicin and his minions Olga Glinka and Valentin Molotov for their steady support in times of troubles. Artemevia also thanked her #teamtrainwreck fans for their love and ended with the words: 'Under love's heavy burden did I sink.'

1) Skater needs a complete package to potentially be a top skater at Euros/4CC's/Worlds/Olympic level
2) Skater needs to have the ability to absolutely rock one day and splat the day after. Even better: rock and splat during one program
3) Skater is not afraid of breaking one's heart over and over again
4) Skater needs more splat/messy performances than great ones

Rules:
1) Worlds/Olympic medalists and Euro/4CC's champions are not eligible
2) Multiple Euros/4CC's medal winners are not eligible
3) Membership and changes to the Rules and Qualities shall be decided by consensus among longstanding posters in the #TeamTrainwreck Threads, subject to points 1) and 2)
4) The pinky166 is not allowed to make more than one proposal a day
5) Proposals can be submitted in the #teamtrainwreck thread
6) New membership is granted only to current skaters
7) New membership is only granted to senior skaters (at least one international senior competition)
8) Membership can be cancelled due to points 1) and 2), numerous decent skates in a row or not being competitive on elite level anymore.
