I'm ridiculously excited about the Russia fake Euros. Khuda! Bagin and Basin back together again. #Unknownkid, Aliev looks reasonably healthy. I hope all of them win and then do well at the Fake Euros 2.0 Russian Cup Finals which will determine the Worlds team apart from the Russian nats winners. Maybe we'll get a preview of that this weekend.

I've decided I like all of them and want everybody to get to go to Worlds! And the Olympics. Well, I really do want P/K to get to go to Worlds which means one of the other 3 won't get to go, but Daria needs to go.

I thought the Russian Junior Pairs was a great competition. So many great couples. Delighted for M/E, their post skate reaction was great but also their pride and delight on the podium;

It was good to see A/K skate clean after a difficult season. A/N deserved their victory they were the best of the field. Sometimes the junior guys can hold back a bit but not Mikhail, full on all the time right down to his finger tips.

I expected K/B to medal but they just came up short. I was disappointed for K/K, they had a disappointing freeskate but I really like them.

On a shallow note, the Russian Pairs guys are very easy on the eye.

So, hands down, this ?? team event (as crappy as it seemed on paper) has been my fav event of the season so far.
This was pure fun to watch. Skaters seemed to have so much fun, supporting each other, crazy audience, absolutely loved it.

Highlights for me in no particular order:

• Ice Dance event was absolutely sublime, they were all spot on
• Sex Symbol Makar Of course we knew years before the rest
• #unknownkid campaigning and campaigning
• Folklore SP has to stay
• tons of hot dudes led by Galiamov and Bazin

Few remarks:

• It kills me to see one pairs team has to stay at home for olympics and we all know who it's going to be (((@rfisher )))
• Nugu would have so much deserved to skate here.

Cave In won the Men's Event at French Nationals even though he doubled his loop and did two fewer quads in the Free Skate than the silver medalist, Adam Siao Him Fa.

Totally agree with you that it seemed a crappy event on paper, but in reality it has been a blast for everyone!
There is now talk of making this a permanent fixture, maybe at the end of the season, and maybe inviting foreign skaters.
It needs a bit of tweaking but for a cobbled together comp, it has been highly successful.
Russians I know who are not even skating fans have said to me that they have been watching this!

Hopefully, they can earn that 3rd spot at Worlds for the Olympics. I think they would have last year if Aliev had skated at Worlds like he did at Europeans. But, Kolyada and pressure.....send the Kid to do the job!
