I thought the first episode of FBI started off very strong. But it lost me in how the agents treated anyone who was a suspect. One of which ended up dead. Then at the episode, Dick Wolf's name came on the screen. Of Law and Order fame, TV shows where the police treat any and all suspects with disgust and disdain. Yuck. I'll pass on FBI.

I'm looking forward to the new "Dr. Who" season which begins this month with the first female Doctor.
I must get Amazon Prime for a number of shows but "The Romanoffs" might be the first in the queue.
I also want to see "Castle Rock" on Hulu as the new season starts this week.

I go for quirky shows: My friends are talking about the new season of "Poldark" but I'm more invested in the wonderful "The Durrells in Corfu." I want to live with them and I love Corfu too. My quirky love extends to the odd but sweet "Lodge 49." And of course "The Good Place" rounds out the quirky shows I like.

"Maniac" and "Manifest" are both brand new and interesting. I think "Maniac" is tops and I hope they extend this limited series but I suspect Emma Stone and Jonah Hill have too much on their plates for now.

Halloween: There are three films being released on Netflix that fall into the horror genre:

"Malevolent": Paranormal scam artists meet their other world match. Available Oct. 5

"Hold The Dark": Jeffrey Wright, Riley Keough and Alexander Skarsgard star in a film about a man searching in the wilderness for a missing child. Apparently there is a supernatural element but I don't know much more. The film is available now.

"Apostle": Set in early 20th century Britain this film is about a man (Dan Stevens) searching for his sister who was abducted by a wacky religious cult. Available Oct.12.

A Million Little Things is exactly the type of show I will always always watch. I love serialized dramas featuring yuppies. Is it as good as This is Us? Not even, but I will continue to watch. People can have mediocre medical and legal dramas, I don't need every soap opera to be some prestige drama.
They re-aired the pilot last night. I just watched it. First, I kept picking up the Big Chill similarities. Then since the Kavanaugh thing, it feels like a "feel sorry for men" drama. I'll DVR episode two and then see if I'll keep with it.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the show. It felt like they were trying too hard with the dialogue to be "cool." Some of the behavior in light of the death didn't sit right with me either. Like it wasn't a big enough deal.

Manifest is also going to lose me if they continue the same pattern of every week of "hear voice/noise in head which leads to crime solving." I'm also not a fan of the lead actress or the guy playing her ex. I'd rather focus more on Ben and his family and the doctor, who are much more likable to me.

"American Horror Story:Apocalypse" is getting better every week. Every episode has been at 100% this season. But tonight... tonight was exceptional. Episode #4. :encore:

I recently watched the first (and last) season of a BBC historical drama called Banished. It's about a British penal colony started on the eastern colony of Australia. How the soldiers and prisoners co-exist and clash. And how they all try to adapt to a new land which they don't really know anything about, a land which can be deadly for those who are new. I thought it was very well written, directed and acted. Shame that it did not continue on as a series, there's a lot more story that could have been told. I'm also watching Outlander (season two) and I think if you like that, you would appreciate Banished as well.

The Cool Kids on Fox is silly, but it's given me a few laughs during the first two episodes. But i've always been a Martin Mull fan. I think they are re-airing the pilot on Sunday.

So after seeing a lot of positive reviews about the new show All American, I decided to check it out tonight and I really enjoyed it. The cast is really good (I love having Taye Diggs back on my TV) and I think the storyline is very intriguing. Its based off a real life NFL player's experiences so that actually makes it even more interesting for me. I liked it a lot and plan to keep watching for now. Did anyone else check it out? :)

I did :) It felt like a cross between Friday Night Lights and The O.C. I'm intrigued enough by the characters to stick with it, especially after the end.

I never watched the OC but I definitely got the FNL vibe as well! That ending was like  and I'm very interested to see where that potential bombshell fits into the story. I really enjoyed this pilot and I can't wait for next week. :)

Same. I slacked off watching it the last few years. Now I'm intrigued again.

Same here. I was annoyed with the last doctor's introduction. It basically started out lecturing us that we shouldn't be against his age and we should give him a chance. The stories sucked and everything they did to fix their issues only seemed centered on the doctor's age. That wasn't the problem for me at all.

Apart from Magnum I am just not interested in any other new show. All the shows I liked best from last year were cancelled. At least with Netflix is something is cancelled it is on the there for a long time so you can rewatch as many times as you like.

So question for the TV Insiders .... you know when they tell you the ratings like '12.2 million people watched' and the show had XX amount of 21-39 age group ... and stuff like that ..... how do they measure that and know that "12.2 million" people actually watched a show? Do they get tracking off of cable boxes and satellite dishes or something? Always wondered how that works.

It would have to be a tracking system of some sort, I would think.

I participated in the Nielsen ratings years ago where I had to keep a daily journal of everything I watched and then mail it back to them. They approached me a few years after that and offered me the chance to be part of the group that submits electronically, but when they told me they had to unscrew the back of my new plasma TV to install the device that reads the data, I turned it down.

I'll watch the Conners without Rosanne now because I wanted to see the show that follows. There's nothing else on from 8-9. And the show is about growing up in the 70s! I still watch That 70's Show reruns. I even had some clothes exactly like Donna and Jackie.
