Perhaps that's just the kind of music she has decided she wants to listen to day in and day out all year. Or maybe she finds it easier to emote to thus making one aspect of the program easier for her and allowing her to concentrate on other things. Who even knows. I mean why do all of Meno and Sand's teams skate to emo power ballads? It's just one of those mysteries of skating.

I think skaters typically choose music with rhythms that they can easily match with the rhythms of their skating, including the movement rhythms needed to set up and execute the technical elements.

They might enjoy listening to other types of music, but if trying to move to those rhythms would interfere with being able to execute the elements, they won't choose to skate to that music, at least not for competition programs.

Amber Glenn is exhibit A (alongside banned Tutberidze) as to why vocal music should be banned from skating. I am sorry, but this long program music borders on the insufferable and it does not even highlight the strength and sureness and power in her skating. If anything, it detracts from the wonderful basic skating.

It's all well and good she personally enjoys this genre of music, and I might be able to tolerate it if I saw any outstanding emotional connection to the music on the ice, but it's simply not there. It is the job of her coach and choreographer to expand her horizons musically. There is no need to do something as drastic as hip-hop or r&b, but I could see her doing wonderful things with Rach or Tchaikovsky.

To be honest, at this point, I will take ANYTHING other than these depressing, unpleasant vocals.

Amber's jumps look great so early in the season but has her 3/3 always been so pre-rotated? Maybe it was the camera angle but it was very visible, almost Kimmie Meissner level. I am sure she feels the song she skates to, but for me as a fan she has been skating pretty much the same genre for years now - getting a little bored.

She's a powerful skater but doesn't get much height in her jumps. Her picking technique on the flip and lutz is sketchy - very similar to the "full edge" technique that the Russian girls are criticized for.

yes i thought the exact same thing. Her rotation position looks better but i think her jumps are even lower and more whippy than before to be honest.

I came across a fan cam of Amber Glenn's 1st place FS at Cranberry Cup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2_8ECbkRgU

Thanks - from this angle, her opening jump did not look like a 3A attempt.

It was called 3A<<, and I agree with the call. Regardless of what she intended to do, she landed forward, with somewhere between 2.75 and 3.0 rotations. She may not have intended to attempt a triple axel, but she did. This in no way looks like an overrotated double to me; it has to be called a triple attempt. I agree with your original call, and I disagree with Amber's correction of you.

It's an overrotated 2A, which would be called 3A<< under rules established in 2019-20 season, IIRC.

Yes.
Regardless of what she intended to do, she landed forward,
That's not what a forward landing looks like... The blade doesn't skid in this way when you land forward.

Jill Heiner (her brand new ISU bio: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00114086.htm; she has gone back to her 2021-22 La La Land FS music) and Sonja Hilmer (no ISU bio yet) will make their ISU Challenger Series debuts in Lake Placid! :)
Audrey Shin and Gabriella Izzo are the other 2 U.S. women and the 3 listed alternates are Rena Ikenishi, Maryn Pierce and Wren Warne-Jacobsen.

^^^ The Fan Zone article must have been written before Clare's recent SP music change:
Based on her ISU bio, Clare Seo has changed her SP music from Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso (performed at Skate Milwaukee) to:
Simple Gifts by Elder Joseph Brackett
Appalachian Spring:VII. Doppio movimento by Leonard Bernstein

Thanks for the heads up @Stephanie - this is the music Clare used for the Peggy Fleming Trophy in late June. She competed with her original SP music (Saint-Saens) for the Cup of Colorado earlier this month so it looks like she will debut "Simple Gifts" at the JGP in Courchevel (next week, can't wait!).
ETA:

Speaking of program music changes, Misha Ge has choreographed a new Junior SP for Soho Lee (scheduled to make her JGP debut at #3 in Riga, Latvia) to "Chopin - Nocturnes, Op.9 by Arthur Rubenstein": https://www.instagram.com/p/ChbTj5bOdvO/
Soho's SP this summer was to "Dreamcatcher" by Secret Garden.

Thanks for the compilation natsulian! I noticed a Senior Women's score for Wren Warne-Jacobsen this past week at the Minnesota State Championships of 160.49 I don't know if you're counting all summer comps or not. But here's a link for it:

Too bad Clare Seo didn’t have the best outing in Courcheval. Now it’s unlikely she’ll make the JGPF. Such an all around great skater with so much to appreciate. She looks to maybe be experiencing a growth spurt which could be affecting her confidence? She is 15, so I’m wondering if she has several more years in junior or will she be able to become senior at 16? She would be spectacular with consistency and confidence.

Sara Everhardt didn’t seem ready for prime time, but I do appreciate USFS giving opportunities. If she could fix her posture and improve her skating skills she could be Nancy Kerrigan- like. I saw a couple of moments of good posture in there. The Malinin/Skornikov coaching group doesn’t seem to focus as much as other teams on skating skills, line and posture, though I‘m sure they are aware of how important these elements are to have a total package. Ted did mention that Malinina said it was hard to get her skater to focus enough on skating with school requirements if I heard that right.

Clare is old enough to compete as a senior internationally this season (she turned 15 last fall). I'm hoping she'll get the opportunity to compete at a challenger sometime this fall in order to get the senior minimums. Domestically she's competing as a senior.

I'm really shocked (and happy) that Ting is still moving forward. I completely had given up with all the injuries and missing even getting to Nationals last year. Such a lovely skater with her lines.
Seeing her in person at Potomac I was wowed. Her carriage and lines are gorgeous and she has more power now with a woman’s body. Bradie was a late bloomer and I’m really hoping for a Ting comeback.

I thought I’ve read that Ting is starting college at Middlebury this year? An academically demanding LAC without any local elite skating coaches is probably not the best place to make an Olympic-level comeback, but who knows. I agree that her fundamental skating quality is so impressive - I’ll always be glad to see her keep pursuing the sport at whatever level works for her.

She started at Middlebury last February (she is class of 25.5.....they have a midyear entry option). There is a rink on campus. She has always been independent about her training so this could work for her. And she's also not that far from Lake Placid.

And she's also not that far from Lake Placid.
Not that far relative to how far everything else is from Lake Placid, but it would be close to a 2-hour drive each way, and not a fun one in winter, so maybe for a once a week thing but not for daily training.

Nebelhorn entries were published today (and confirmed on USFS' International Assignments page) - Gracie Gold and Starr Andrews are listed (Paige Rydberg is the alternate listed in the ISU entries). Entries are copied out in the Challenger Series thread in GSD here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ies-2022-23-season.109817/page-3#post-6289319

ETA: Gracie previously competed at Nebelhorn Trophy in 2014 (won bronze) and this will be Starr's first time competing at Nebelhorn.

Before my injury, I think I would’ve been too embarrassed to post videos of myself falling on jumps. But as I’m coming back into full training, I’m embracing the process of practicing these jumps that I wasn’t able to do for a full year. Sure, it can be frustrating not being able to land them every time I try, but when I think about where I was at this time last year, I’m grateful that I’m able to do any jumps at all - even the ones I fall on 😌

I don't know whether to put this in U.S. Women or U.S. Pairs. :D

An update on Audrey Lu as she starts college at UCLA:
