And a junior world champion is born
HUSH! ;) Sophie Joline has yet to win a Junior national title. She finished 9th last year in Columbus and attempted 3 3A (landed 3Ab1+3T< combo in SP and 3Ab1+2T +1 bonus = 10.76 points & 3Ab1 fall in her FS). I'm sure she is aware of the other areas in her skating that she needs to continue improving.

I don't want to derail the thread, but how did Sophie Joline come to compete for the US? She wasn't born in the US, and I don't see that either of her parents is obviously a US citizen. Thanks

A skater doesn't have to have citizenship to skate for that country’s Federation. Alexei Krasnozhon, for example, skated for the United States without having citizenship.

SJVF sat out last season and, according to her ISU profile, lives in Boston. She would, of, course, need citizenship to represent the United States at the Olympics one day.

I don't think that it was necessarily a given when she switched that she would have an easier time making the Swiss World or Olympic Team than it's American counterpart.

@alexikeguchi this question first was asked in this thread after she surprisingly won her first JGP in Slovenia in early October. AFAIK I don't believe Sophie Joline has given a public answer to date? My unofficial hearsay info is that her coaches in Boston, Aleksey Letov & Olga Ganicheva, supposedly encouraged her to represent the USA (for whatever reason or reasons).

A sampling of posts back then:
Is Sophie eligible for the Olympics? Why did she change from Switzerland to USA where the pool of skaters is so much larger?
Not age-eligible for 2026 Olympics.
2026-27 would be Sophie's first possible season for senior internationals.
Sophie Joline's winner's interview [in Slovenia]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD-QNZEG3-E
Her first answer to Mark Hanretty: "I finally found my great coaches team to help me with everything - my presentation, with my jumps, and be more consistent. I'm skating now a lot more programs in my training."

I don’t watch live if the events are at weird hours. I need my beauty rest :p And even if they are normal hours I’m often busy with other things. I like to sit down on my schedule to watch. Thankful for Peacock replays. Just wished they stayed on Peacock much longer or even a couple more days.

Cross posting from Alysa’s fan page…

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Laufey, who sings Alysa’s short program, “Promise” she has such a great voice, and here’s some articles about her where she was at the Hollywood bowl recently.

Video of Amber's in-studio interview with NBC Today anchors (ETA: from 8-o'clock-hour):

(3:39)

(It included a tease for more with Amber in Today show's third hour. I will keep an eye out for video.
ETA:
Sylvia's post #989 below has the full video of the third-hour [9-o'clock-hour] interview, which was with different co-hosts.)

Thanks for that. Needed VPN but great to see. Someone said the matinee event for US figure skating is the ladies. To see main stream media interested in figure skating - again! It`s been a while, though maybe for Ilia there was something?

There was a LOT of media coverage for Ilia after he won 2024 Worlds but the U.S. women still tend to get more of the mainstream news coverage. I just noticed that the Today Show has uploaded the full 4-minute version of their segment with Amber that includes Jonathan Van Ness' appearance at the end (he said he's been a fan of hers since 2020 and showed up at 5 am to do her hair!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRq7qVmMeAo

Have you come across a link? I looked but haven't found one.

Ava Ziegler performed at the Skating Club of New York's show yesterday for World Ice Skating Day - a link to photos (including Bradie, Lindsay, Skylar L-P & other Nationals-bound SCNY skaters/teams) is posted here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ows-benefits-tours.112107/page-2#post-6703979

Sylvia, your link is to the NBC Today third-hour (9-o'clock-hour) interview with Amber Glenn 👏 -- thank you for posting!
Third-hour interview starts with questions from Dylan Dreyer, and continues with questions from Al Roker and Craig Melvin.
Ends with Jonathan Van Ness walk-on. (Sheneille Jones did not ask a question, but threw in a friendly joke about JVN sliding into Amber's DMs in order to ask about doing her hair.)

Amber's 8-o'clock-hour Today show interview, conducted by Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, is what I posted earlier from Today show website.
It now also is available on YouTube:
