Man, those people are even more toxic and now you have to pay to read what is going on during the competitions. I got a free pass to the competition thread somehow for I guess being awesome (j/k) and I think I will just stick with FSU snark.

Nah, I haven't read things as toxic as in here. Sorry not sorry.

It seems crazy to me. He doesn't need another competition this year - particularly with injuring his wrist at Europeans - guy should've gone on vacation for a couple weeks and then buckled down to train for Worlds.

Problem is he shouldn't be a sure thing for World given the way he has actually skated this season. Aliev may have not skated much better but back in the day RUS fed wouldnt have doubted to make the replacement.

And at the same time he's the only one of the Russian men who could actually get on the podium at Worlds and beat Hanyu, Chen, & Uno - dance with the girl who brung ya - he's the reason they have 3 spots and he's still the best bet to keep them.

Last season, yes definetly. This season? not so much . THe argument of him being the reason for 3 spots I will never buy it. That's just a way to hide reputation consideration.

I think the Great Skate Debate threads have had more nasty/toxic posts this season than the Kiss'n Cry threads - Russian Skating thread :yikes:- I've tried Goldenskate but I find there's too much being posted to try and keep up.
FAQ

Can someone clarify what this thread is for/about?
No.
If you have to ask what the thread is about, you'll never get it.
If anyone has to ask what the thread is about, the best thing for him or her to do is to hang out in the Russian skating thread looking for an answer.

:sneaky: :giggle: :gallopin1

What do you mean? Kolyada finished 3rd last season, and combined with Aliev's 7th Russia earned 3 spots for World this season. Without a skater on the podium it's a lot more difficult to get & keep 3 spots.

Yes but he needed Aliev to skate well enough too. So they both helped. Not just Kolyada.

What I mean is that what he did last season (which if we are being honest was just fluking into as many podiums while still sweeping the ice with his butt) is pointless regarding to who should make the team this year. Dont get me wrong , Mikhail is my fave among the russian guys but his results and skating this season does not guarantee a podium finish, not more than Samarin or even Aliev or Voronov if healthy. Taking into consideration last season results is reputation buffing at its worst.

Thanks. I think scoring potential for Kolyada is better than any of the other Russian men so he's there best bet for a medal (it's not a likely outcome, but no one else is in the conversation), so send Samarin because he's likely a good bet for top 6 finish and then send Kolyada and cross your fingers, toes, arms, and legs that he pulls it together.

So final Jr Rus ladies impressions

Sinitsina - Unremarkable. Suprised she finished that high.
Anna the 3rd - Will always root for her after the accident, but this was too frenetic with no polish. The fast music at the end ate her alive. Why so lonely in the K&C ?? :(:(
Vasilieva - Was that Kostornaya's last season dress?? I think this was pretty solid but in this crazy deep field is just not enough.
Anastasia the 2nd, Rogue Princess - I miss the abandoment but the passionate teen angst is still there.
Alena the 2nd, Royal Angel - That flew by so quick. Amazing. What or who can we sacrifice for she to make it intact until 2022?
Anna the 4th, Senior Queen-Junior #3 - Reminds me of a young Lipnitskaya, which is an awesome and sad thing at the same time.

I think high scoring jumping consistency is actually the best bet criteria for a men prediction. Yes Kolyada has the highest potential but that only happens every blue moon. Samarin can deliver way more times and he would be the best bet for a higher placement this season. Anyway's Samarin place on the team is unquestionsable. Is Kolyada vs Aliev vs Kovtun the issue so I don't see a problem with the fed monitoring all three.

Eteri's Dinasty as expected. Yay for them :encore::encore:

BTW, speaking of toxicness both FSU and Goldenskate are heaven compared to stream comments sections. They were still fighting over Sotnikova vs Kim !!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
There are some seriously nasty posters in those comments. One in particular who really hates all the Russian skaters and often gets the threads closed as a result.

And, the Russian cup, may be the deciding factor for the Russian men's world team. Aliev and Kovtun will skate. I suspect the Challenger is Kolyada's chance to make his case, since none of them except Samarin have done so. No idea who Russia will go with for the other two spots.

Well you have your answer right there if Vasilieva went after Anna as they share a coach. I guess Buianova was in no mood to sit with her today after what happened earlier.

And what happened earlier??? Spill the full beans damn it !! :p:D

The prize of CSKA, Danielian, didn't make JrW and according to some Russian posters, Selitskaya told him that she "hopes he has a great time off." Look at the video, he was so damn sad sitting there and being told that.

I'm going to guess that Buianova was also not pleased b/c unlike with Andrei Kutovoi (who skated in the previous group), she chose not to sit with Artur in the K&C.

Also last year after his Nationals FP where he pop an axel and fell on another one, Buianova apparently walked out on Artur. Dang live feed video is down due to copyright so I could never verify it but it was mention on both GoldenSkate and on the Russian forums.

And now Plushenko is kicking the kid in the press as if Artur gave himself those PCS scores. Man I feel so sad for Artur  I mean sh*t he just turned 15 and already being kicked in the press. I really hope they mentally prepare him for this when he moves up.

I haven't bought a suscription for FSU in like 3 years either.. The K&C threads are snarky yes but in a nasty/toxic way, not silly fun like in here. To be honest for best information during current comps Goldenskate is much better, there I said it.

You need experience a pbp thread with @Jeschke, @SmallFairy, @rfisher, @pinky166, @Wyliefan and of course many others--including myself. I think a lot of the pbps these days are more or less an extension of this thread, mostly filled with deluded positivity, superficial comments, and fluff. :cheer:
