There doesn't seem much of a height differential between Olivia and Mervin in the insta clip. But maybe it's deceiving since they are setting up for a throw. Do we know?

Maxime Deschamps has already teamed up with Kyu-eun Kim of South Korea so he is off the market. They plan on representing South Korea next season.

Ya, whatev.
Unless there's some real $$ in it for him we'll see what happens.... :p

I didn't even know that Kim had split with Kam, LOL, but best of luck to the new pair.
She looked very unhappy at their last competition together - and perhaps pretty scared? Seems to me she had been injured and was wearing leg wrap. It almost looked as if she wasn't bother to even try to land the throws.

 No Julianne and Maxime pairing, at least for the foreseeable future, eh.

I doubt many skaters get into skating as youngsters for the $$. That's definitely not what's driving most skaters, IMO. They moreso need to find the $$ to be able to continue in the sport! Clearly, Maxime has a passion for the sport and he was determined to continue, wherever his passion would take him.

Good luck to Maxime and his new partner, Kyu-eun Kim. If they develop successfully, at the least Maxime gets to attend Worlds every year, representing South Korea, no? That's of course if he's granted South Korean citizenship, which is likely not a problem should the pairing become competitive.

^^ Ah, okay. It's just the Olympics that's a barrier to competing unless you're a citizen of the country you're representing. Cool that skaters need not wait for citizenship papers in order to compete at Worlds. I kinda forgot. Many of the ISU rules and approaches are antiquated in any case.

An impressive photo of Lubov: https://www.instagram.com/p/Br-5IUSh_OH/

Great footage of Lubov doing a black flip lift (she is in the second pair in the video): https://www.instagram.com/p/Brmwxayn08M/

Flexibility  : https://www.instagram.com/p/BmwvWsKg7w8/

She is at a crazy level of fitness. Just the strength and muscle tone is amazing.

I can understand why there are rumours Bilodeau wants her to partner with him. I know that Lubov struggles with side by side jumps, but she's certainly ahead of the pack in terms of being acrobatic and crazy fit.

Wow, you're not kidding! :watch:

Luba is amazing. I'm happy for her that she's finding such wonderful pursuits, involving as she terms it 'body art,' which are somewhat connected to the skills she learned in skating. I didn't realize that Cirque du Soleil even had a whole contingent of acrobatic artists with skating skills and/or backgrounds in skating.

That footage of Luba and crew in the back flip lift sequences in Cirque's 'Crystal' show rehearsal is so cool. I love the music and the entire clip. Amazing!

So we still don't have any confirmation one way or the other on who the new partner is? This is one long lead up!

I wonder if itis not happening now?

Maybe since there hasn't been any announcement of a pairing between Luba and Bilodeau, it could just be that they had some fun trying out together but nothing has been decided at the moment? In any case, I would expect Luba has signed a contract with Cirque which she needs to honor.

She is a goddess! Jumps aside, I think she has the quality of any top Russian pair girl who won an OGM.

I feel Lubov has really found her special niche with Cirque. It's like she was born to do this.

If she ever came back to competition I'd want her to do a really quirky voidy Cirque de Soleil themed program. Absolutely no middle of the road gauzy romantic mush. If she came back to skate with Bilodeau just to do a free skate dressed in grey ombre to one of those mopey folk songs sung by a person who sounds like they have a mouthful of marbles I just wouldn't see the point.

OVER-THE-TOP CIRQUE DU SOLEIL PROGRAM FOR 2022 OGM

Given that I think Bilodeau’s best programs with Seguin were the Cirque du Soleil short and the Grand Budapest Hotel short, I think that would be a good idea for multiple reasons.

Agree. My concern (fear?) is that if they train with Bruno or Richard they could get sucked into the vortex of Julie Marcotte power ballads and french best-ofs.

While those stylings have their place for sure, a steady dose of that style would do a disservice to their possible range. Crossing my fingers they engage in some healthy stylistic exploration.

I loved Lubov's drama and fierceness in the Tango short she did...She can do characters very well...I would like to see Shae LYn Bourne do something with them. Also Lance Vipond or Rohen Ward.
