Pereira/Michaud will be special guests on Skate Ontario's Year End Broadcast scheduled for June 7th: https://x.com/SkateOntario/status/1794045082200658028

Skate Ontario's youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/@SkateOntarioPSO/featured

There were some rumours swirling on Xitter back in late April that Brooke McIntosh's new Euro partner was Marco Zandron from Spain. Looks like there may be some truth to the rumours - there are a number of photos of them skating together posted here: https://eislauffotos.de/piwigo/index.php?/category/2572#&gid=1&pid=24 According to Germany's figure skating fed's website, the event they were taking part in was for both pair skating and ice dance: https://www.eislauf-union.de/de/med...zur-saisonvorbereitung-in-dortmund-und-berlin

Google translation:

From May 21 to 25, the joint ice dancing and pair skating course took place in Berlin for the second time. Under the direction of the junior national coaches Stefano Caruso and Rico Rex, two junior, five junior and three senior pairs took part. All pairs developed new choreography lifts and spins under the guidance of Robynne Tweedale (OSP trainer from Berlin) and the ice dancing coach from France, Fabian Bourzat. For the basic training of skating skills, the pairs worked with Catherine Papadakis and for the basics of pair skating lifts with the Ukrainian trainer Philip Zalevskiy. The motivation for the young pairs was the training visit of the World Championship third-place finishers Minerva Hase/Nikita Volodin and the 2022 European Championship participants Letizia Roscher/Luis Schuster.

They have a nice look, both tall and long-limbed.

If that's true about Zandron then that would mean Barquero/Zandron are officially done (sad day as she's been lingering in WADA/CAS-hell to get her doping violation litigated).

It would also mean that McIntosh/Zandron are eligible for the GP selection list. Of course, we haven't seen an official partnership announcement so they may not be ready for that.

New Canadian pair team of Ashlyn Schmitz and Raine Eberl, coached by Dave Schultz & Garrett Gosselin, are training at Kitchener-Waterloo SC this week with Anabelle Langlois & Cody Hay, according to K-W's post today:
At 2024 Nationals, Caidence Derenisky/Eberl were 7th & Schmitz/Tristan Taylor 9th. Taylor, 22, listed his IPS profile on Jan. 23 (he's a dual CAN/USA citizen): https://icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=7524

From the Pairs general discussion thread last month (Yudin & her new Spanish partner will compete for Spain):
Meagan Duhamel's Instagram reel video yesterday [May 22] shows Megan Yudin training off ice with Spain's Patrizio ROSSI LOPEZ, now 21: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7SAUkROQnG/
He last competed internationally for Spain with Linda De Nardin in Oct. 2023; she was 8th in Jr. Pairs at 2024 Canadian Nationals with Aidan Wright.
IPS profile for Aidan Wright, 23: https://icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=7411
Christopher Hammer (J9 with Natalia Custodio at Nationals), 20, listed himself on June 2: https://icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=7663

Wonderful that they were able to work with Jeff! 🤩 I believe he's done choreography for pair exhibition numbers in the past, but I can't recall any competitive programs. Very much looking forward to seeing what they've come up with. Bohemian Rhapsody could be fun, emphasis on the word could. ;) As per the June 13th participant list, they're planning to compete in Junior Pairs at Championnats québécois d’été: https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/CQE2024-Liste_Participants-13Juin2024.pdf

Bombardier/Mimar practice clips on June 5:
Ben recently posted an Insta story video of a solid throw 3lutz, so it certainly looks like they're making nice progress. :) It's reasonable to assume the SCI host TBD spot is reserved for them, provided they perform decently at summer events. Seven weeks from the date of his post suggests they'll be making their competitive debut at Skate Ontario's July Sectional Series event (no competitor list posted yet). They're also on the list to compete at Championnats québécois d’été.

I’m really excited to see Bombardier/Mimar compete!!! I think they could have a really good shot at podium at nationals . Also the SCI spot tbd is 95% for them ? Right?

Quoting myself here  - Bombardier/Mimar will indeed make their competitive debut at Skate Ontario's July Sectional Series competition: Interim Entry List as of June 18th

Has anyone heard any updates re: Ariano Kent/Laliberte-Laurent? The Championnats québécois d’été competitor list was updated today, and so far they're not scheduled to participate.

I don't know about the podium - they'll have to get past Laurin/Ethier who are really coming along quite nicely. But I do think they're the most likely team for the SCI host TBD spot until and unless the rumored McIntosh/Zandron partnership is confirmed in the next few weeks or so.

Re-posting from the OES news thread -
Official announcement for Brooke McIntosh & Marco Zandron - waiting for Brooke's release with the intention to represent Spain next season. Per Skate Canada's updated release policies, Brooke has to sit out the entire following season after she last represented Canada (she and Benjamin Mimar competed at Skate Canada & GP Espoo last season).

Well, I do hope that nothing too serious is happening with Kemp/Elizarov or AKLL. It would be a tough hit to the JGP circuit if both of them were out.

I'm really questioning whether or not Bombardier/Mimar are going to get that SCI host TBD spot. Or any Canadian team for that matter. Neither they nor Schmitz/Eberl are showing they'd be competitive in a GP field. Their summer competition scores are rivaling the Chinese pairs teams competing in their own domestic comps right now and they're all:yikes:- plus would take away GP opportunities for better teams from non-GP host countries.

If you're willing to suffer through a ridiculous number of ads, here are Schmitz/Eberl's programs from Wild Rose:

SP: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x93f71m?start=3394
FP: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x93gy1m?start=360

IMO, this partnership is still too much of a work in progress to start being considered for current international assignments, but they're definitely worth keeping an eye on. They've got a nice look and are quite pleasant to watch, maybe even moreso than Bombardier/Mimar at this point. :shuffle:

Good to see Ashlyn still has her 3S, I always thought she was a partner with potential. I suspect Bombardier/Mimar are just running into some unknown issues like injuries or mental blocks, and they will land things soon. Same with Desrochers/Thrasher who came together later last season.
