People don’t understand that there is something fundamentally wrong with her technique. If Lubov could land jumps, Russia never would have released her, she would have had a top coach, a top partner, and probably would be a World or Olympic medalist,
Her technique is fine so it was difficult to perfect it when under non pressure situations she landed her jumps fine. It was all mental.....which is what can happen when you have a partner who was a SOB and the coach twice as bad.

Nope, never engaged or married before. Congrats Dylan and Sharon!
I thought he had been going out for a long time with a girl who studdied law if I'm not mistaken. Maybe they were never engage and just broke up without ever being engage... it was around 2016-17

Just want to clarify that the partner in question was not Dylan, but Nodari Maizuradze, and his coach (forgotten her name) who together drove both Lubov and another skater (Julia someone) to serious anorexia. Julia (I think that's her name) almost died. Nodari and coach hounded the girls that they had to be lighter so Nodari could lift them.

You keep saying this, but it is patently false. Her technique on the toe loop was poor. There’s no other way to put that. She picked so close to the skating leg that she never got any chance for the free leg to come through, and thus got no height in the jump and it was squashed before it ever took off. This is extremely poor technique that was never corrected.

I’m sure she could land a triple toe more often in practice than she did in competition, but that doesn’t mean it was good technique. If the technique had been better, likely her consistency in competition would have been better too. Stronger technique often holds up better to nerves than scrappy technique.

And while I’m at it, her sal technique was bad as well. Not as bad as the toe, but not great either. The left side got away from her a lot of the time and the timing of the free leg coming through was iffy. She had kind of the same issue as with the toe; the jump never had a chance to breath and get up into the air.

I’m sure you’ll disagree because this doesn’t fit your narrative, but her jumps problems were fundamentally technique driven IMO.

Sorry I thought we all knew that. The evil coach was Natalia Pavlova.

I disagree because others here and in other places who are privy to their everyday training say different. I am going by what I have read. I have only seen them at competitions practice and the competition itself.

You're equating her landing things in practice with good technique. Her poor technique on the toe easily went haywire in competition (and I'd somewhat have my doubts that she was uber consistent with it in practice :shuffle:). When you pick that close and that fast, there is little to no room for error. Everything has to go pretty much go perfectly with the upper body, timing etc... to land a 3T like that. Throw some nerves in play and you'll get what Lubov did the last 4 seasons. If she'd had better technique she might have been able to land them even if the takeoff didn't go perfectly. Her problems on that jump began with the takeoff, which would go so awry that she wouldn't have a chance at rotating and/or landing it.

Yeah, he dated a lawyer but they were never engaged. The lawyer looks quite similar to his new girlfriend (now fiancee), a tennis player.

Ah, that kind of clarifies things. I was wondering why I saw him on Bumble (a dating app) a year and a half/two years ago...
In any case, congratulations to Dylan!!

I don't see Brasseur/Bardei on the official roster for Golden Spin anymore. Does anyone know if they have an injury or do they just not feel they are ready?

I’d guess they were submitted to go a while ago but whatever caused their sectionals withdrawal likewise prompted them to withdraw here.

Yeah, she wouldn't have to move. Brasseur/Bardei train with Bruno and Richard in Montreal. So not her.

This needs a bit of clarification.. Julia Antipova, who skated with Nodari after Luba, explained in her own words in the interview the whole situation.
- Pavlova and! Artur Dmitriev told Julia the her weight is fine and she can train as a single skater, but if she wants to remain in pairs, her weight needs to correspond to the partner's physical abilities, and she needs to accept the terms.
- That is partially for him being able to lift her, but also for her own safety, so he does not drop her or trip.
- at that point Antipova and her parents who were involved, could have walked away, switched to singles, find a new coach/partner, but she accepted the terms, and stayed.
- Then Artur Dmitriev (not Pavlova, per Julia's words) put her on a "special diet" which consisted of the following items:
For breakfast - tea and a small portion of cottage cheese. For lunch - meat with vegetables. For dinner - cucumbers and tomatoes, and if still hungry, then more cucumbers.
- Julia's regrets and objections for this diet was not against Nodari, he did not complain or insist on her loosing weight. Her only regret against Nodari is that he did not stand up for her and took her side against the coaches.

Here is one of such interviews, in her own words:

Brasseur and Bardei are on the start list for the Challenge, so we'll see if they skate or not. I hope they will be able to get an international assignment soon.

I realize this is a Canadian pairs thread, but I feel I must say that this diet is DANGEROUS and should at no time be attempted by a figure skater (or anyone really). As far as I know, Dmittiev is not a dietitian and should not be advising or planning diets for skaters. The diet mentioned simply does not have the nutritional content or the calories for any athlete.
Again, it is DANGEROUS and could lead to serious medical and health problems.

I agree. It's an absurd diet, esp for an athlete. Cucumber and tomatoes for dinner! Where's the protein?

To be perfectly clear, my beef with Nodari was his critical lack of support for his partner .This was evil. I looked Lubov up to see who it was Dylan had tried out with and saw a video of competit. where she was so weak she literally collapsed from her final pose and he walked away from her off the ice in a tiff. Then in the kiss n cry Pavlov literally petted and soothed him for having to go through that while the coach and thugs totally ignored Lubov. That is totally enough for me. He still did not learn any lessons as he nearly killed Antipova. He gets a tiny nod from me for eventually leaving Pavlova with Julia but it was too little too late.

I don't think it is quite fair to blame him for not "defending her", if they both are students to a Teacher, who is an authority. If the Teacher tells Julia to loose weight and gives her conditions and she accepts and does not walk away because the Teacher is an authority, then why blame Nodari, who is also a student, and accepts that what the Teacher say is true and is an authority: that the two bodies must have certain proportions to do the elements and! to be safe.

I know, he is a "man"..... but what's a "man" compared to a "woman", other than an animal human with simply different genitals. Both people in a pair are "students" and they listen to "teacher".

He should have offered to pump iron or change coaches like he did with Julia.....and before health was compromised.

It’s fun to speculate but I hear Brasseur is training with Bardei still but she’s dealing with an injury from a good source. Hope she’s recovered for challenge.
That's too bad, will they have a possibility to get their minimums before 4CC/Worlds?

TES minimums need to be earned 21 days before the first official practice day of championships. For 4C's, the first official practice is scheduled for Tuesday, 5 February 2019, 21 days before is Tuesday, 15 January, and there are no internationals for Pairs after Golden Spin and by the deadline. (There are Mentor Torun for singles and Dance and EduSport for singles, both of which end by the 4C's deadline.)

For Worlds, the first day of practice is Monday, 18 March 2019. 21 days before is Monday, 25 February. The only non-championship competitions for Pairs by the deadline (planned) (ETA after Golden Spin): Bavarian Open (Germany), Ice Mall Cup (Israel), and Challenge Cup (Netherlands).
