The best new show of the season for me is "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" on Netflix. It exceeded my expectations 10 times over. I recommend it. I wonder if they'll have a "Riverdale" crossover at some point.

Was it posted on here that the final season of House of Cards was out on Netflix?

Snark: Only eight episodes.
Anti-snark: Eight episodes of Robin Wright (noone will miss Kevin Spacey).

I don't have Netflix so I don't watch it, but can you come back and tell me how they wrote off Kevin Spacey's character since he got fired from the scandal? :shuffle: He was like the major character of the show, wasn't he? I just want to know how they managed that if he was the headliner character.

I haven't watched House of Cards since season 4. (It was the reason I first subscribed to Netflix streaming service, BTW.) I'm not sure if I will watch seasons 5 and 6 or skip straight to season 6 or just skip it completely.

Anyway, here's an article that discusses the process of rewriting the final season in depth, which includes enough of an answer to your question, @BaileyCatts, to serve as a spoiler for that whole question.

Just to start with,
Although on the show the public is told that Frank died of an accidental overdose while sleeping next to Claire, she lets viewers know early in the season that he actually died on the floor of his bedroom in the White House, and that she suspects he was murdered.
What really happened to Frank isn’t revealed until the final moments of the show

I believe I've seen at least one other article around giving similar levels of information to what I quoted here but not the rest of what's revealed by the end of the season.

I was looking for something to watch at 10:00 last night while I recorded Blue Bloods. There's a show on the Cooking channel, Holiday Cookie Builds. They were making an ice skating rink for a coach. It had her doing a camel spin and her girls doing a pinwheel, with the mechanical parts underneath so they really spun. The only edible parts were cookie snowflakes around the outside. It will be on a few more times, as all Cooking and Food channel things are. The episode is called Tricked Out Turkey because that is the other half of the show.

This Is Us ..... so would the Army really tell a soldier to go start walking back to his own unit, by himself, and ya' better hustle up and make sure you get there before dark because ... snipers??? By himself? In the middle of a war zone?? Granted I know nothing about how the military works but .... really???

But Jack going to talk to Squirrel's parents ....... :wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed:wuzrobbed

That's what I said. He took a helicopter there. They drove his brother to him after he walked (rode a little) back. What the what?

Still, I would rather see Jack's story than anybody else.

This Is Us absolutely BROKE me last night. That song Bec sang at the end and Jack breaking down....OMG, I was a mess. :wuzrobbed Maybe it's because I have family who fought in Vietnam and rarely talk about it themselves, but I find myself very drawn to Jack's story this season and I want to see more of that than anything else. I still enjoy the show overall but that story tugs on my heart more than the others right now. I'm starting to think that Nicky took his own life while they were over there and that's part of why Jack has such a hard time with it. Maybe he wasn't able to save his brother after all. :(

It wouldn't shock me if that was a true thing because most of what happened in Vietnam was ugly and I read that they're using a real life Vietnam veteran to help tell the story. I don't think that vet would let them use something from that time period if it wasn't true. :(

And I want to find a love like Jack and Rebecca's only without him dying in the end....I'd like to keep my guy for a while! :swoon: :fragile:

I saw that and thought "Every Other Holiday Movie", like "here's another one like every other holiday movie"! All these Christmas movies. They are all the same - someone hates Christmas or has an argument with someone who hates Christmas, they fall in love and it snows and they live happily ever after. Blergh (or however you spell :p)

Except there is supposed to be a When Calls the Heart Christmas movie on Hallmark. Probably the same plot, with the same terrible actors, but I was kind of interested in their storylines during early 1900's Canada. A bit different than 1880s prairie movies.

Why not? This Is Us is fiction.

How can there not be a separate thread here for Christmas at the Palace?! It was an "ice skating" movie! Young princess wants to learn to skate to put on a Christmas pageant for her dad, the king, so two female skaters go to London to organize the pageant and teach the girl to skate (supposedly). But their lifelong dream is to own their own rink in New Jersey, and they fly back to NJ from London to outbid a business man to buy the Trenton NJ Ice Arena. And one goes back to London to marry the king and decides she wants to perform in a year-round ice show there, and the other (ditzier) one is going to stay in NJ and own an ice rink with the help of her boyfriend, a former palace employee. There is a little bit of recital-level skating in the movie. The dumbest part is buying the ice rink with their meager savings and the idea that the young skating instructor, well, never mind.

I don't get HBO, but I lucked out this weekend when we got a free preview and I got to record three episodes of "My Brilliant Friend." I've only watched a little so far, but it looks like an excellent adaptation of the books.

NBC is working on a Grimm spin-off series featuring a female Grimm. Hopefully it will be about Diana and Kelly! :cheer2:

This Is Us .... its a little unbelievable that this is the catalyst that drives Beth and Randall apart (if, in fact, that is what the flash-forwards are implying) just because he didn't drop out of this election? Not buying it. And maybe I need to watch it back, but the impression I got was Beth demanding Randall had to drop out of this election and be with her 24/7 because their kid may or may not be gay so she needs him there 24/7. Seriously? Maybe I need to watch it back, but that's what I came away with. You know, the man does need to have a like ... j-o-b. They may be financially stable for a while, but not for a lifetime and both of them are currently unemployed and will eventually need to start bring in $$$$$ to pay for that big azz house and cars and college for 3 kids yada yada yada. Would she demand he quit his job if he was working at his normal job right now? I just find that whole ending and him not dropping out of the election ridiculous that this drives them to divorce. :blah:

The ending with Nicky was intriguing since that guy said Nicky was not listed at the memorial. At first I thought the explosion was Nicky getting killed, then we see him in that house and that envelope has a PA address. Then I thought maybe he staged it so he could go AWOL from his post. But he couldn't be living under his own name in PA if he went AWOL ... but of course that could have been before he left for the war ...... man when does the show come back again? I hate these long breaks in my TV shows!!!!

Is whatever Randall is running for a paid job anyway? Making enough to take care of five people? The city councilman that lives down the street has a full time job elsewhere. The flash forwards are so far forward, I am sure Beth's neediness and bitterness will cause plenty of other things to drive them apart over the years.

I kept thinking about More American Graffiti, where Toad walked off into the jungle "to go home" and was never seen again. But he was declared MIA. If somebody was on a roster somewhere, they have to be declared as something at the end of the war. If he's not dead or MIA or a deserter or 4F, he'd have to be on a list of finishing his service. How could they not have researched that already.

This is the only story I'm interested in. But, funny, Kevin is sitting there IN Vietnam and way into the conversation says to the Vietnamese guy something about how his dad didn't talk about Vietnam, like you would be talking to someone at home saying my dad was in Vietnam meaning the war, not the country. I don't know how to explain it. It just jumped out at me.

Tonight's episode of the Great Christmas Light Fight will be in the Dayton area at Clifton Mill. I guess they aren't just doing houses this year, but specific city-type displays too. Over the years, I've been to Clifton Mill in below 0 weather, in the snow and when it was still 60* after dark! (We went to Young's Dairy and ate ice cream outside. I said that must be what it's like to have Christmas in California.) t.v. will not do it justice. I hope they show the little train village too.

Clifton Mill won! They showed the miniature village. I remember the drive-in! And we wondered who goes to the drive-in in the snow! They also had a lighted carnival in the town, with a moving ferris wheel and merry-go-round. Anyway, it was all just mesmerizing in person.

There are a lot more lights than when I was last there. But they still had a real Santa popping up out of the chimney.

Six weeks later, and the ultra-slow burn of A Million Little Things is starting to really wear on me, and I may have to abandon ship -- the current timeline stories are intriguing but the over-arching "Why did John commit suicide?" question that should be the lynch-pin of the show really has just gone NOWHERE -- except we now know Ashley is in touch with some shady person(s) dealing in money that should be part of the company -- but we STILL have no idea WHY AND/OR IF it's related to why John committed suicide -- you gotta give us MORE than that, writers

I'm watching the latest episode now, and literally was paying so little attention that I went and took a shower, and I don't feel like I've missed anything. The lead characters have zero chemistry, and the dialogue feels forced. Plus the character who's decided for death over cancer treatment story line is really grating on me. You know she's eventually going to go and get treatment for her disease and the fact that they're focusing the show on that and not the mystery around the suicide of one of the main characters is frustrating.
