DWTS Season 27

Dances and dance order for Disney Night:

John & Emma – Quickstep to “I Wan’na Be Like You” from The Jungle Book (Didn't Meryl and Maks samba to this one?)

DeMarcus & Lindsay – Charleston to “A Star is Born” from Hercules (Lindsay has done good Charleston in the past, but not sure what to think of this. The lifts will be great, though)

Alexis & Alan – Foxtrot to “Just Around the Riverbend” from Pocahontas (this one could be good...)

Joe & Jenna – Jive to “Zero” from Ralph Breaks the Internet (Joe attempting a jive? Yikes!)

Milo & Witney – Quickstep to “Incredits 2” from Incredibles 2 (he'll do well with the footwork, but his frame might be iffy...)

Mary Lou & Sasha – Contemporary to “Reflection” from Mulan (not too sure what to think of this one...)

Juan Pablo & Cheryl – Viennese Waltz to “Gaston” from Beauty and the Beast (I hope Cheryl actually gives him choreography, because this one could be BRILLIANT!!)

Evanna & Keo – Jazz to “When Will My Life Begin” from Tangled (is this Keo's first jazz? It will either be really good, or...)

Bobby & Sharna – Waltz to “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid” (why are they doing a song based around the female, when the male is the pro?

Watching Disney night on Juniors, and the grown-ups have a lot to live up to tomorrow, because the kids are NAILING this!!

Also, for tomorrow I think "Gaston" is perfect for Juan Pablo, but I'd love it if he danced to a song from Aladdin, and had Scott Weinger (Steve on Full(er) House and speaking voice of Aladdin) do an intro.

Which junior got eliminated? I was too far behind on SKAM to even think about recording it.

Anyone watching tonight?Half way through and my favourite so far is Juan Pablo's Gaston. I feel like Cheryl is hurting him with her choreography, though. Dude can clearly dance but some weeks she just dances around him while he basically stands around, and other weeks (like this week) she doesn't give him enough of the style assigned.

Don't understand how Demarcus got 9s (and an 8) - I'd have given him high 7/low 8s for that heavy/sluggish Charleston. Best part of his whole thing was seeing the Jimmy Kimmel poster in his rehearsal space. And no idea how he scored higher than Evanna. I feel like the judges are being unbelievably harsh on her.

Alexis' dance was nice, but I won't remember it by the end of the night.

So far this is the only dance I've seen and it's certainly one where he could have handled more dancing. There was too much non-dancing and posing going on.

I always wonder how they decide who gets recorded versions of the songs (Alexis, Juan Pablo, though for him I'd have preferred the original instead of the newer version) and who gets the somewhat weaker live versions.

If they keep on with the Juniors, I am going to have to switch the channel! I really can't abide them! WOD did a terrific job with young people so it really is possible. And there are too many Arnolds being shoved down our throats (we had Houghs). I'm grouchy! We had municipal elections and none of my selections got in. This show did not help tonight! And I was hoping we'd get rid of Grocery Joe tonight. Grump grump.

Last week or the week before I said at least Cheryl let him dance instead of dancing around her partner like she has in other seasons.

I think Cheryl is one of the best female pros at both dancing & choreography. I think she generally knows what he can handle. If he can't do something in rehearsal she probably waters down the routine.

I feel the same about the kids. I'm not interested in DWTS Jrs & I despise the bleed-over into DWTS Srs. Esp them having dialogue parts. Ugh! Cutesy doesn't interest me.

Haha, that's what I did. When dh realized it was Disney week, he went downstairs to watch LOTR for 3 hrs. Usually he will watch with me. I was flipping back and forth between dwts and The Resident and kept finding the Juniors when I would flip back, so I just decided to stay with the less annoying show. I only saw Juan Pablo's dance. And there wasn't even an elimination! Geeeez.

Personally, I thought Mary Lou she was overscored; she danced that dance like she was doing a floor exercise. Even my husband commented it was too static, no gentleness of flow to it. And her emotional meltdown didn't exactly melt my heart either.

I got to see that. She hasn't done a floor exercise in like 34 years. I guess some things stick.

I agree, she seems to think she has to have these pauses between dance moves, like she's waiting to do a tumbling pass.

Good dancing once again on Juniors! Miles had amazing Samba technique (and even wore the latin shoes), and Sky continues to be adorable and slayed her jive. The (IMO) weakest 'star' was eliminated, but it was still sad to see them (and their personality) go.

The eliminated star was Alana 'Honey Boo Boo Thompson. She wasn't a dancer, but she had great sass and personality out there.

Okay, Milo looked like a pro in that routine. That was absolutely fantastic, and definitely deserving of that 30.

A few good dances tonight, but Milo was really the stand out IMO. He and Juan Pablo both deserved their 30s. Happy Evanna finally got great scores (29). John was seriously lowballed - he should have gotten 8s for that I think, or at least not so far behind Mary Lou and Joe. JOE GOT AN EIGHT! I might have given him 7s, but he actually got an 8. Then was promptly embarrassed as hell when all the other cast members started chanting his name. They're going the "romance" route with Alexis and Alan. Their chemistry definitely seems real, but it seems Meryl/Maks 'showmance'ish the way it's being done. Also, they danced to Candyman, but sadly there was no yellow polka-dot dress to be seen.

Makes me barf that they had to make a special announcement that Val is joining the tour.

Still no Joe in jeopardy. There's speculation next week is a double elimination. I think John might be going home on 'country night' (barf). In any case, Mary Lou went home (Alexis was the other one in jeopardy). Every single star eliminated thus far this season has been a woman. Not a single male has gone, and only Alexis and Evanna remain.

Nothing about the dancing, just things I thought of as the show was on. I don't know this Candyman (only the Sammy Davis Jr. one). I was wondering why she was dressed like Mrs. Claus.
And the dead bride and bridesmaids routine - they all had on yellow. Why didn't the bride have on white?

And, oh Mary Lou! The "I'm 50" pity vote was getting old, so she switched to the "I just got divorced" pity vote. Too late.

Regarding Mary Lou - it appears no-one knew she had been divorced. When you are "America's Sweetheart," your life is supposed to be perfect in the minds of the people. I think suggesting she went for pity votes is harsh - now I understand why she was so emotional last week. Yes, it was her time to go, but I think I can understand her emotions better now. A divorce after 27 years of marriage is not something one takes lightly.

Thanks @Yazmeen. Mary Lou always came off as sincere to me. You could see her coming out of her shell week after week. The divorce must have really shaken her confidence. The post above yours is more than harsh - it was mean-spirited.

I believe that it is difficult for Mary Lou to project enthusiasm and joy; which often factors into motivating viewers/"votes"
I hope that the DWTS experience can be part of her healing process.

I had the same thought about the bride/bridesmaid one. IMO Lindsay's dress should have been white/cream but made to look dirty.

As for Candyman, it's the Christina Aguilera song (that Tarasova/Morozov used for last year's poorly received FP). I didn't understand why she looked Christmas-y either but I did like the overall Willy Wonka theme.

Especially since the country and the world still sees her as little, smiley Mary Lou from 1984, and she's experienced a lifetime of ups and downs since then.
