I was going to say the same. I thought it was brilliant. I couldn't see the Kate/Phillip pairing until last night. Their 1st date & the conversation they had made their relationship make sense (to me). This show just keeps getting better & better. The last 3 shows have really been thought-provoking.That was really, really well done.
It’ll be an unmarried Sophie.I hope at Kate’s wedding that Kevin isn’t hooking up with a married Sophie ? Could it be Cassidy again?
Sophie was married at the engagement party so she would have to get divorced rather quickly. It’ll be an unmarried Sophie.
Cassidy has been dealt with.
Yup! She’s the only one left!Sophie was married at the engagement party so she would have to get divorced rather quickly.
Beth’s cousin is still out there. She didn’t want to have kids but maybe she’d be okay with being a stepmom.Yup! She’s the only one left!
This was the first time I thought they had a miss on the child casting with the version of Jack when Kate and Phillip got engaged. The hair was too dark.
That's a pretty harsh assessment. Here's another: she wants the luxury of working for peanuts at what she loves but she's ok with Toby giving up his lucrative job that he loves in order to get what she wants. But she doesn't think about who's going to pay for it. So I don't think Toby was joking but she still doesn't "get it".So, Toby was joking that he wished Kate made more money. When they split up, did he have to pay for the house she kept and his place while he was making less money because he gave up a good job for her? And pay alimony and child support? While she just goes off with another man? How far into the future will we see? Phillip finally growing a spine and telling Kate he's tired of being treated like a doormat? She only wants someone who is more miserable than she is who will let her have her way 24/7. The minute he disagrees with her or has a different opinion, she'll whine and get rid of him because he's not like her father after all.
Yeah, I should have put "joking" in quotes. She's got Kevin to mooch off of too. That's a pretty harsh assessment. This!!! Neither of them are perfect - but Kate has been too hard on Toby and I think this is the root.I'm glad Toby said that comment about Kate never giving him any credit being a good father because he didn't do things like Jack did, he was not Jack, and she's sorry he's not as good as Jack, because it was 100% true what he said (can't remember it all now, but she deserved that).
he comments about Kate and Philip and seeing their relationship from y'alls comments, I still don't buy them as a couple. So there.![]()

Yes she did ask/tell him. Plus made a scene at his work's party. He gave up a good job because he determined it that family came first. That was his decision, from what I could see. Kate did not ask him to give up the job.
Yes, I agree with this, and it was also unfair of Kate to pursue the job in LA without discussing it with Toby, immediately after she was so mad at him for doing the same. It seemed like they were so out to get even with each other, all through this part of their story. So they really never sat down to figure out a good compromise. Kate just got what she wanted.I blame both but I do think it was unfair of Toby to expect that Jack could give up all his supports that were working so well for him and just move to a whole new place. Plus leaving Rebecca when she is in the last few good years she has left would be hard for Kate too.
Decisions need to be made differently when you have a child with special needs.
Yes. He decided he wanted 50% custody when he didn’t care too much about spending time with the kids when he took off to SF.It is interesting that Toby did not go to SF after the separation. He stayed to be closer to the kids. We don’t know how he is doing with his job but it seems he is doing well financially.
The “I don’t want to be alone” is a very, very normal reaction. Couples that have been together a long time have to re-adjust to not being a couple. I’ve been through it. It’s just so human. Very well done I thought.I think Toby wanted the white picket fence fantasy of a marriage with the wife and kids but didn’t actually want Kate anymore.
He even says “I don’t want to be alone” he doesn’t say “I want you, Kate.”
Phillip wants Kate.
I’m glad Kate realized that and called it quits on the marriage.
Amazing how Kevin can be so great sometimes and such a screwup at other times.
Great actor and writing.
Absolutely agree .. just finished watching. The songThey used the end credits music! I am a mess.
Beth and Madison were hilarious.
