super-late #TTW Russian Nationals recap /non-dance/

Men:

Terrible event. The biggest highlight: Rukavicin finally gets to go to Euros , love the intensity after dealing with all of #TTW bullshit the past 3 season, it was awesome he had this moment. :respec: PS plz bring Glinka to the K&C.

Belly Murashov was a total disaster here, at least he still showed a little belly. A couple highlights: a 2loop+4toe combo attempt, has a 4toe ever been tried as the second jump of a combo before? Regardless it's such a TTW combo. :gallopin1 Volchkova looked stunning as always, but I'm concerned in 2 years we won't be able to tell her, Tsareva, and Tutberidze apart.

Is the Ilia Kiimkin - Artur Dmitriev Sr coaching combo the least sexy of all time!? :yikes: :eek: However, Junior is still FIRMLY on my do-hard list. :smokin: Maybe @Loves_Shizuka's too.

Pairs:

The final group was really mediocre, especially with no Mozer, get better soon! Your pairs are so boring without you! However pairs 5-6-7 were sensational and I can't wait to see all 3 on the senior level. I'm over the panty dropping, Zzzzzabijanko, and even Stolbova is trying my patience these days.

Pavliuchenko/Khodykin were my favorites, and a definite MEEPOTS shortlist nominee. I particularly love how he's waving his hands, begging for his life, and she's all BANG! with a half-embarrassed smile on her face. Probably inspired by Schott last season. :p

Mishina/Galiamov are fabulous and she is a star. They also have a smoking hot minion too, but I can't remember his name, even though I think I asked in the pbp thread. :drama:

Boikova/Kozlovskii are also amazing. SBS 3loops and 3toe-1loop-3salchow! OPA! :eek: They have more tech content than most of the ladies on TTW! I want them at Worlds, somehow.

Ladies:

Perkova: um, at least we got Glinka in the K&C? It was a big step down from #CleanGrandPrix2017, and I'm afraid we won't see her on the Grand Prix next season, I really don't care as long as she still gets international assignments. Too bad she's aged out of Universiade. :drama:

Mikhailova: I've already confided my obsession earlier this week, so I'll spare you again. However, I did look up the music video for "Head Over Heels" by ABBA (the first half of Mikhailova's LP) and OMG--I'm in love. :rofl: So 1980, so much makeup, so glam, so over-the-top. :cheer: The lead singer reminds me of Perkova. :shuffle:

Radio: I was really impressed with how she fought back in the second half of the program after two opening pops and salvaged 10th place. Actually all the jumps in the second half of the program were some of the best I've ever seen her do, and if she can do that consistently I think she can make a World team again. I LOVED Buyanova being so motherly in the K&C too.:encore:

Sakhanovich: Lavrenchuck looks fabulous! So much more interesting than that boring LP, but the jumps are really improving. Looking forward to next season, especially as she was on the fast track to Shelepen-ville this time last season.

Panekova: GLAMOUR ENDING! And Celine. I also love how the Gauz and Eteri seem to be laughing at that brilliant ending pose. :saint:

Konstantinova: So this is the program I've watched the most, to be honest. So mature and powerful, yet elegant and expressive. I'm so converted. Definitely softens the blow of losing Pogo this season just a little bit. I think chances are pretty good she'll get a spot at either Euros (if Med withdraws) or Worlds (if Med or Zag withdraw)? I really like her exhibition, too.

Panenkova is reusing her last year’s LP (ending pose was the same), so it’s all a way around ;)

Speaking about Konstantinova, I rewatched her LP later and was :eek:. I still liked her performance but she is so much better live. And it’s completely opposite with Zagitova :rolleyes:

Question about this. A lot of comments on youtube and the pbp shocked that Konstantinova had higher PCS than Kostornaia. My thought was that Konstantinova just skated a lot bigger and covers the ice better (as she should!). Is that accurate? So then I can Uber her fully, she goes to Worlds and creates heartbreak, because I haven’t had enough yet this season. :drama: :gallopin1
 
It's a pity we can't add tiny young skaters to the team. There is a US juvenile pair team Stein/Edwards that skated to Pink Panther. First she is a tiny, tiny child and was in a bedazzeled pink velour cat suit that was the cutest thing I've ever seen and her partner's name is Blake Edwards. She even copied some of the Empress's moves. While Daddy is gone, we need a special category for something.

One of my favorite songs ever is Daddy's Home by Usher :rofl: SO GOOD and so underrated. I always wondered if Usher realized how gay some of those lyrics are! So appropriate for this thread. :shuffle:
