I did some legal analysis during the Russian Ladies Free Skating. You-Know-What, the unexpected opportunity of the coup, and the risk of da bossman's coming back and restoring order dictate reinterpreting the Rules. :COP:

The bad news is that Unknown Kid and the M&M's are still ineligible. :(

The good news is that Naumov and Panfilova & Rylov are IN!!!!! :cheer2:

No Morozov/Bagin ?
Russia's first all male team?
Asks the mother of a certain female ice dancer with a distinctly masculine surname.

Please make a convincing case for Team Nepotism with specific examples in reference to the Criteria, Rules, and Criteria.

Having a stepmother, however temporary, roughly one's own age and being promoted through the ranks due to family connections do not count as bizarre off-ice incidents. :COP:

You're tough. It's kind of hard to top that. How about if you add in all the girlfriends even if they didn't meet stepmother status?

Touché. 😝

Though Tiff's masculine surname is the least of TJ's problems, the foreignness of their surnames is a bigger problem.
There is a lot of resentment of 'foreigners' competing for Russia.
Despite having a Russian mother, Jon is classed as a foreigner now he is with Tiff.

Naumov😍😍😍

And Tursy-POTS for Tarasova/Morozov
You get depression segueing into sobbing Evgenia, fist pumping Max and Boikova/Kovalskii rushing out to congratulate them. It's a toss for me between them and Nugu and Rukavitcin awkwardly patting her on the shoulder as she sobbed.

The good news is we may yet have a few months and possibly even more worthy Tursy-POTS candidates before we vote on it.

I'm so thrilled Team Rukavicin placed two ladies in the top 10 here, surpassing even my most optimistic hopes. :cheer:

Talalaikina has improved quite a bit this season, she's actually getting the 3Lz+3T around consistently. I thought this comment from the pbp was really funny but accurate:
-she has nice speed and stamina for a Rukavitcin skater

And Nugu, what can you say? SIXTH!?! After finishing 17th and 14th the past two seasons? What a fantastic and unexpected season she's having. :encore: Will she get any funding for this placement?

I hope she does, but it might depend on what Russia decides is the "final" competition. They've certainly used the Russia cup finals as skate offs before and if they go through with the rumored "faux Europeans," who knows? But, Nugu has made her case and did it without other skaters failing (well except Tuk but she was clearly not well so she doesn't count). :gallopin1 did very well for itself at this event. Now, we just need to fill in the pair and dance slots.

Not that I think Russia is going to hold a "real" Europeans, but the ban on hosting is just for Worlds and the Olympics right? So if the desire was there (I know it's not), they could move Euros to Russia?

I think it's too late. The ISU canceled the event.

And, let's get real. Most of the Russian skaters might have antibodies by now, but the other federations don't want to be able to say the same of their own skaters! :scream: 😷

I know Euro's is cancelled, just curious about whether it would have been an option in theory. I actually am not sure that Russia would have been interested either, most events they are holding seem to be internal for their own skaters, with a few rare exceptions (at least in skating).

Russia stepped in for Worlds in 2011 after the tsunami and all that came with it in Japan and did a marvelous job.
They would've totally taken over Euros this season if there had been a chance to do so.

Didn't Russia also step in when China was in the middle of the SARS scare too?

edit: actually I think I'm confusing it with the women's soccer world cup and the US taking over that sorry :shuffle:
