Can any of our German speakers give us a translation of this interview Tim gave to a local Dortmund TV show about the partnership? His segment starts at the 10:20 mark -

If I understood everything correctly (my German got quite rusty), Tim confirms he'll be representing Spain because the Spanish Fed agreed to provide financial support for training in Montreal (for one year so far, I guess). Olympic Games are cetrtainly on his mind but right now he's taking it step by step. Oh, and of course, he stays German at heart ;) - it was a reaction to the anchorwoman's comment that some people might be surprised to learn that "our Tim skates for Spain" :).

To be honest, I've never been a fan of those ott programs by Muller/Dieck (the notorious cancer dance, for instance), but I might change my mind after this interview. He seems genuinely nice and, hopefully, Montreal will come up with something more shah-friendly this coming season :).

@AngieNikodinovLove and anyone else reading, would you be interested in turning this thread into a fan/cheer thread for them? If yes, we could request it be moved to the Trash Can?

Wait a second…. before I left this forum out of frustration in the spring didn’t I create this as a fan thread? Someone else changed the title. It was originally a fan thread.

I’ve always wondered do they still some type of a ceremony backstage for the short program and free program Small medals? Or do they just chuck them at them?

They typically have a ceremony in a publicly accessible location, usually some type of outdoor plaza near the arena. For the most recent Worlds, it was right in front of the main entrance to the TD Garden.

Interesting, not to derail this thread, but do they do the flags for that as well? and anthem? And is it typically before or after the overall competition?

No, they just call the skaters' names, they walk up to the podium and someone from the ISU (it was Benoit Lavoie in Boston) presents their medals. In Boston, there was a USFS official acting as emcee, doing the intros and also asked the skaters the obligatory, 'how do you feel?' question.

The SP/RD small medals are usually presented at the press conference right afterward. The FS/FD small medals are presented the day after the event.

The FD small medals were presented outside the TD Garden prior to the Gala on Sunday. After the presentation, the medalists invited Lilah and Lewis to join them on the stage. There was a large crowd including those waiting to enter for the Gala.

The presentation of small medals for FD was followed immediately by a presentation to the overall medalists -- Chock/Bates, Gilles/Poirier, Fear/Gibson -- of sponsor gifts (Citizen watches).

Same thing happened for all disciplines right after presentation of small medals for the free program.
For men, overall bronze medalist Yuma Kugiyama was onstage for the presentation of sponsor gifts, shortly after Adam Siao Him Fa received the small bronze medal for the free skate.
