Bringing over from the previous OES thread ... The Swiss Skating federation published their national team lists for the 2024-25 season (French version of the Teams page): https://www.swissiceskating.ch/fr/patinage-artistique-et-danse-sur-glace/sport-de-performance/cadres

Direct link to the National team list (as of April 18, 2024): https://www.swissiceskating.ch/_default_upload_bucket/cadre-national-2024-25_1.pdf

Copying out the Senior and Junior skaters/teams list below:

2024-25 CADRE NATIONAL PATINAGE ARTISTIQUE / 2024-25 NATIONALKADER EISKUNSTLAUF

Vouillamoz Oxana B SEN E1 SOC E
Bouvart Tom B SEN E1 SOC E (NEW PAIR - both represented France with their previous partners) - their April 25 announcement says they will train with the club Français Volants in Bercy: https://www.instagram.com/p/C6MNyDbrM_K/
Interesting... Bouvart only competed a handful of times with Coline Keriven in the 2022-23 season - his last competition with her was Bavarian Open 2023. I didn't realize Vouillamoz was actually Swiss but her ISU bio says she was born in Sion. Her last competition with Flavien Giniaux was GPdF this past November, so the earliest this new team would be able to compete internationally is likely the CS Warsaw Cup.

Russian news re. transfers to Armenia and Poland:
It was also posted in the [2023/34] OES News thread on May 28 that Sofia Titova (15-year-old training at the Evgeni Plushenko Academy who previously has landed 3A and quads, IIRC) has received Armenian citizenship, according to the Figure Skating Federation of Armenia.
Armenia reportedly sent a request for the transfer of the Russian pair team of Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin "but a source noted that the leadership of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) is 'skeptical' about the transition. It is expected that permission to transfer to athletes will be issued in December."
From MatchTV.ru (May 30): https://matchtv.ru/figure-skating/m...ali_reshenije_smenit_sportivnoje_grazhdanstvo
As Match TV learned, Russian figure skaters Oleg Muratov [born in UKR] and Anatoly Belovodchenko received exemptions from the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), both plan to continue their careers under the flag of Poland.
Muratov performs in ice dancing; together with Sofia Kachushkina, he took tenth place at the 2022 Russian Championship and fourth place at the 2022 Moscow Championship. The athlete was born in Kharkiv and has been competing for Russia since 2020. The 21-year-old skater trained under the guidance of Alexander Zhulin and Alexander Sitnikov.
Belovodchenko also performs in ice dancing; the 24-year-old athlete became a medalist and winner of the Russian Cup stages.
June 6 in the previous OES News thread:
Maxine Weatherby [previously represented KAZ in ice dance] and Sasha Kolosovskyi [Adrienne Carhart recently announced her retirement] have teamed up to represent Azerbaijan-

Luxembourg’s JGP singles competitor Ysaline Hibon, 18, is switching to ice dance:
Her IPS profile lists Fabian Bourzat as her coach ("I would like to form the first ice dance couple representing Luxembourg."): https://www.icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=7595

That’s really sad to hear about B/Z, for the short time they were competing I really enjoyed them. Wishing the best to both of them in the future.

Was there ever a final decision on her failed drug test?

Official announcement for Brooke McIntosh & Marco Zandron - waiting for Brooke's release with the intention to represent Spain next season. Per Skate Canada's updated release policies, Brooke has to sit out the entire following season after she last represented Canada (she and Benjamin Mimar competed at Skate Canada & GP Espoo last season).

His last competition for Italy was 2023 CoC, so he should receive his release in mid-November!

Here's an interview with Milania Vaananen/Filippo Clerici of Finland, who will start their season this week at the John Nicks Pairs Challenge. They talk about why they're a case of "opposites attracting," so to speak. :D

Vaananen: Actually, I never trained in Finland, except for singles. Before, I lived most of my time in Russia. I trained there because my mom is half-Russian/half-Ukrainian, and she wanted to have results.
Typical skate mom!

Alieva/Barshak GEO have ended their partnership. Yehor feels unable to continue due to his family situation in Ukraine. No word from Masha if she will look for a new partner.

And another OES ice dance team breaks up just days ahead of their season debut - this time Olivia Oliver & Filip Bojanowski of Poland.

Seems like Filip blindsided Olivia with the news that he was ending their partnership yesterday.

The Spanish fed has published their criteria for selection to the 2025 Euro & Worlds Teams as well as 2026 Euros, Worlds & Olympic teams -

Google Translate -

2024-25 Season
1. The athletes that will be evaluated will be those classified in first and second position in the Spanish Absolute Championship of the previous season.

2. The sum of the total score obtained in the following competitions will be taken into account:

a) Two Challenge Series competitions defined by the RFEDH in which the couples/athletes who are fighting for the place for the European and World Championships participate.
• The Challenge competitions in which the two dance couples will participate will be: Nebelhorn Trophy and Nepela Memorial.
• The Challenge competitions in which the two male athletes will compete will be: Nepela Memorial and Tallinn Trophy.

b) Spanish Absolute Championship

3. In the event that a couple/athlete is invited to a GP to cover a vacancy, and this invitation coincides with the Challenge competition selected by the RFEDH and it is not possible to plan a second Challenge competition, then only the sum of the scores of the Challenge competition in which both couples/athletes have participated and the Spanish Absolute Championship will be taken into account.

4. In the event that for reasons of force majeure, more than one competition in which both couples/athletes have participated cannot be taken into account, the RFEDH will take into account, in addition to the competition in which they have coincided, the entire season of the athletes, as well as the international ranking.

5. The couple/athlete who obtains the highest sum of scores will be the one who represents Spain in the European Championship and World Championship.
6. In the event of a tie, the exact same score, then the result of the Spanish Championship will be taken into account.

Obviously, both Smart/Dieck and Val/Kazimov have already competed in Nebelhorn. Nepela is the week after SkAm, where SmaDie are assigned. Theoretically, they could do back-to-back competitions, especially seeing as their 2nd GP isn't until CoC, so they'd have a good 4 weeks rest between Nepela & CoC.

But, this selection process seems a lot fairer than the one they instituted last season, and this one was published before the start of the season so everyone was on the same page from the jump.

2025-26 Season
The following criteria are defined to establish the couple/athlete that will obtain the place to participate in the European Championship, World Championship and Olympic Games.

1. The athletes that will be evaluated will be those athletes classified in first and second position, and those classified in third and fourth position in the Spanish Absolute Championship of the previous season.

2. The sum of the total score obtained in the following competitions will be taken into account:

a. Two Challenge Series competitions defined by the RFEDH in which the couples/athletes who are fighting for the place for the European, World and Olympic Games participate.

b. Spanish Absolute Championship

3. The Challenge competitions to be taken into account will be those in which both athletes/couples, first and second classified, and third and fourth classified in the Spanish Absolute Championship of the previous season, have participated, and defined
by the RFEDH.

5. In the event that for reasons of force majeure, more than one competition in which both couples/athletes have participated cannot be taken into account, the RFEDH will take into account, in addition to the competition in which they have coincided, the entire season of the athletes, as well as the international ranking.

6. The couple/athlete who obtains the highest sum of scores will be the one who represents Spain in the European Championship, World Championship, Olympic Games in 2026.

7. In the event of a tie, the exact same score, then the result of the Spanish Championship will be taken into account.

Just gonna put this in here... Katia Kurakova's new FS to the Cats soundtrack is something you should probably watch and be prepared for ahead of the GP.

That first half is very her, though I was actually expecting even more catness and cutesiness.

Imagine if the ice dancers did a costume transition every time they switched songs in a medley. :D

Like Alysa Liu, Niki Wories (NED) announced her retirement in 2022 and is returning to competition this week at CS Budapest Trophy (she won a small club international in Dordrecht last month), coached by Thomas Kennes - here's an article in Dutch (August 19) about her decision to return - "Niki Wories, nowhere happier than on the ice":
The talent is still there, the ambition no less, but Niki Wories (28) finds it incredibly exciting to breathe new life into her figure skating career. She has no other choice: something has to be completed, and it is the way to soften the loss of her mother who passed away last year. "This adventure feels like I can do it together with her," says the KNSB figure skating discipline manager who will resign from her job on October 1.

Lithuanian National Radio and Television article in English (Oct. 22, 2024):
“Having assessed all the circumstances, having listened to the applicant, who came and participated in the commission’s meeting, the commission has decided to propose to the president to grant Lithuanian citizenship to Allison Reed by way of exception,” chairman Pranas Žukauskas told reporters on Tuesday after the commission’s meeting. […]
The Citizenship Commission plans to submit its recommendation to the president within a few weeks.
“Within a week, maybe two, after coordination and preparation of the protocol, all the material will be submitted to the president,” Žukauskas said.

Hungary’s Julia Lang, 21, announced her retirement from competitive skating earlier today:
She's had a tough time since 2023 Worlds :( but she writes positively about her future:
Excerpt:
I haven’t been competing since Worlds 2023 and I haven’t been practicing since 2024 March. It has been incredibly hard, probably the hardest period of my life so far. Trying to figure out who am I if not a figure skater. I needed to start building a career and a life besides competitive skating. I am now coaching, working in the media and also doing university. I am not disappearing from the skating world, but now I am approaching it with a different mindset and with different goals. I still need to figure out a lot of things, but I really want to make a name for myself in different aspects of life. New doors are opening for me and I can’t wait to discover these opportunities!
Her ISU bio: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00103344.htm
