NBC Fires Matt Lauer.

I too have heard the rumors over the years about Matt so am not surprised.

Hopefully news organizations like the Washington Post, New York Times, etc continue to expose those that for too long have abused their position of power.

So Charlie Rose at CBS and Matt Lauer at NBC ........Good Morning America? Hopefully they are ok....

I don't normally watch the Today Show. Is Hoda usually on in the first hour (I know she's on with Kathy Lee later)?

I will say the same thing I said about Weinstein. People who had a voice and a platform like Viera, and did not speak out are despicable. Stand up and nail his ass! By not doing that, women (the ones with power, paychecks, etc), allow others to be hurt and abused.
I just read that Viera's husband said she was not offended. OK. But Katie Couric is now saying that Laurer pinched her ass all the time.
Did she say anything then? Nope. Is she piling on now? Yep.

NO, THE MEN WHO CHOOSE TO HURT AND ABUSE ALLOW WOMEN TO BE HURT AND ABUSED, FOR FCUK'S SAKE.

The men who intimidate women into not reporting, the men who cultivate a culture where women won't be believed, THEY are the ones to blame.

Meridith Viera had a husband with a severe disability; as well as children to support, at the time. That likely affected how she chose to react and respond to the situation.
Well, she had some strong and amazing gigs beginning in 1982....which was long before Matt Laurer, and a career on radio before that.

Work history:

It is not as though she was an ingenue with 2 kids and a disabled husband. She was a long time pro with a lot of gravitas.

Regardless of who she was, and what her status was at the time, you are blaming victims. It is NOT the victim's fault; it is the fault of the arrogant pricks who decide to misuse their power and act like assholes.

Really, I am not. What happened to them was not their fault. Speaking out and helping expose the horror was within her control. Who she was and her status had everything to do with holding her accountable for helping to keep it hidden.

The clip of Couric saying that Lauer pinched her ass all the time is from 2012.
Which proves my point. :

Could Couric be much richer or much more famous? Here is what she said, and where she said it

Amid Lauer’s sexual misconduct scandal, a 2012 clip of Couric from “Watch What Happens Live” resurfaced in which she discussed Lauer’s “annoying” habit.

“He pinches me on the ass a lot,” Couric said during the show’s “Plead the Fifth” segment

That is not what I think of when I think of people who are in a position to make a difference (by getting his ass fired) don't.

AA, you may believe that you are "stronger/above all this".
However, if you found yourself in the identical time, place, and circumstances as the victims of these abuses; how can you know how you would have reacted, or what you would have done?

The "remedies"which exist now, were not always available.
