2019 Oscars Red Carpet & Ceremony - All Awards Lead To Roma

I wonder if you ever get used to having people stand and applaud simply for walking into a room. :D

I saw an interview with Meryl Streep where she talked about how awkward it can sometimes be on a movie set when other actors treat her like "Meryl Streep" and she doesn't feel like just one of the cast.

I figured Malek would win, and I love his talent and his acting. He was in the buzz and favored to win. But I would have loved to see Viggo Mortensen win for his excellent work and his stellar career.

Malek is popular but he has more work to do as an actor truthfully, and he needs to wrap up his speech and honor the other actors in this category.

I love Lady Gaga but find her award show persona grating. However I thought that was one of her least grating speeches. It was pretty short and genuine and she did give the mike to Mark Ronson. She also seemed very happy and grateful rather than shocked/surprised.

Of course, Rami is not a hack. He's an excellent actor, with a lot more to do. He's also very cute and he has a twin brother, Sami. I love Rami's work in Mr. Robot and I'm eager to see where he goes in his career. But again, this is just to me more of a buzzworthy popular win rather than actually the one who did the best acting work in this category. But that's just my opinion.

Rami's speech was okay, if a little overcome and self-centered. It really is not the best speech I've ever heard. It's not a surprise that he won, so I guess he's relieved since his win was expected.

That wouldn't make you right. Lots of people think Donald Trump is a great president. I know plenty of people who don't think that BR deserves an Oscar for best picture, and I'm one of them. But I haven't talked to anyone who thinks that Rami Malek is a hack.

And I have. You better learn to deal with me expressing my opinion. How many posts were here and in the other movie threads all about people saying how much they like that movie? This is an Oscar thread, I'm just expressing my reaction to the wins/losses.

Heck, ~I~ don't think it deserves best picture, and I loved it.

But it had a lot of strong and yes, Oscar-worthy points.
