Update:
Official is president of fed now
I tell you once more guys, we are one step away from ruling the world!

And breath of relief: she is already in SWE.

So long as Grm is there, everything is alright with the world.
Indeed! But I can't believe I'm not there. I love Stockholm. I love skating. Sigh.
They should have went with the cardboards, I loved the cardboards!! We could have the whole front row of us Team Trainwreck folks wearing glittery outfits. And our pets too. I would order cardboards of our cat, the horse of course, and my late bunny.

I warming up for Worlds watching old videos. The Nagano ladies '98 thread is helping my trip down memory lane.

Worlds '99 was my first competition live. I went with my friend. She was in love with Yagudin. I was in love with Abt. He wasn't there. I loved Yagudin's skating though. So, our highlights:

  • We brought a Russian flag to cheer for Yags, Urmanov, Butyrskaya and Elena & Anton. We got off alright:)
  • We brought a French flag to cheer for Annisina/Peizerrat. At least the original dance got off alright.
  • We brought an American flag to cheer for Michael Weiss. I loved his Beethoven short and Mulan free. Who else flexes their muscles like Arnold while skating to Mulan? His 3z was beauty! The Americans behind us had an American flag who was a towel. They we're really impressed by our flag.
  • The Swedish lady next to us was also at her first championships. She had brought a large bag of plush toys to throw out to the skaters she felt deserved it at the time. She was amazing. Laurent Tobel got a large stuffed carrot.
  • Laurent Tobel and Lucinda Ruh were the highlights who didn't win. Others were Margus Hernits, Robert Gregorzyk and Vakthtang Murvanidze. Mens long program was soooo well skated.
  • My friend at home loved Urmanov, so she knitted a doll for him that I threw on the ice.
  • I got to shake Tarasova's hand after Yagudin won.
  • I was sobbing so hard after Butyrskaya won, the people next to me looked at me like I was nuts:lol::gallopin1
  • I got to see Rechnio and Gusmeroli skate live!!!
  • We brought a large poster to cheer for the Swedish commentators Lotta and Roger. They were really happy and came over to chat with us.

So good, but I really believe Nebelhorn with you guys will be equally epic. One day!

Bring on your best stories! Two days to go!!

So sad for those of you who are close to Stockholm for sure :( I really wish they could have had a tiny audience. Even 100-200 people would have been cool. Oh well! Hopefully they will cheer for each other?

I'm hoping that the skaters are so bored in the bubble that they go along and cheer on the other skaters, assuming that is allowed

I would submit a picture of me holding my bottle of whiskey

I'm feeling a bit left out of this party, I've never had anyone block me on Twitter
It's very easy. Find any current discussion on Worlds and tweet that you don't really like Hanyu. Then find one and tweet that you like Hanyu, much more than Nathan. Then find a third one and write that you think the ISU is doing a good job and you're glad Worlds is still taking place.

That should have about 75% of skating Twitter block you.

Trusova is looking really good in practice. I hate the whole reality tv vibe Plush has brought to skating but I love her so I am super conflicted. She is such a cool kid and I give Plush credit that things seem to be working out for her with him. I guess in fairness it's not like there wasn't constant drama in Russian skating even before Plush's academy gained prominence!

I love her and want her to nail all her quads/trixel and win gold!

Welcome to FSU, Mme Bovary. You chose the right thread for your first post. :) :gallopin1

Are there Nathan Stans on twitter? I always feel like all the energy in that conflict is coming from the Hanyu fans. I've never seen any big Nathan fans obsessing about his rivalry with Hanyu but I only occasionally look at skating twitter so I could just be missing it.

I'll work on it, thanks for the heads up @Mme Bovary :biggrinbo

I like Nathan more than Hanyu - will that work too?

I, for one, love the reality TV drama he brings.

And, then, send one final tweet that says you think the Russians are doing great at following the ISU C19 protocols and that will take care of another 15%, which leaves you the 10% of skating Twitter that is sane and normal.

I think that. It's not completely risk-free, but what is? The ISU has done a good job given the circumstances.

I don't follow skating twitter, but it seems like the sentiment that Worlds should/should not happen is also slapped around on this board. However, given the camaraderie of continued conversations, maybe people here are a little more restrained and can agree to disagree? ?‍♀️ Or maybe I'm blocked by all sorts of folks and just don't know it.
