A video interview with
Gubanova. I absolutely hate the interviewer - she has a vocabulary of a 12 y.o. and she tries to be the coolest and the meanest girl and soooo high society. Brrrr.
The usual food crap: she does not eat/drink in the evening, if she drinks even half a glass of water in the evening she wakes up all swollen and looks like she ate the whole day long. She is aware it's not healthy and `since we are the athletes we don't mind'. Apparently even 100grm have influence on the jumps and the feeling. She does not get dehydrated though. If she drinks more than needed - a glass in the morning and a glass in the noon is enough for her and when she tried drinking more she only got swollen.
She thinks she skates no worse than Medvedeva/Tuktamysheva/Konstantinova (talking about the Russian cup where all 3 showed up all of the sudden, while Gubanova lost all them a bit)
She does not know why she is so far behind the other girls. She skates well, she jumps and spins and all. She beat Zagitova in the past. She couldn't compete in the seniors the season Zagitova won everything because she was born after 1st July.
Praises Zagitova for grabbing her chance and doing all she can and winning all.
She is against the girls going to the Olympics in their first season in the seniors. She is for (not her idea, the idiot interviewer) holding the skaters back for a couple of senior season.
She does not mind whether the coach is male or female. She was with Urmanov, he moved to Sochi, her parents couldn't, so she stayed with Turenko who was a second mother for her. Turenko was the one who taught her all.
Once she became a teenager the relationship changed, they lacked the connection and Gubanova decided she wanted changes and she wanted to move to Moscow. They spoke to Buyanova and she agreed to take them.
Gubanova is originally from Tolyatti. She had a hard childhood, she came to FS because she was very allergic and would get sick all the time. The doctor said she should do sports. Once she started skating she was quite good and was offered to move either to St. Petersburg or Moscow. They picked St. Petersburg, her first coach there was Svetlana Nikolaeva who gave her the basics of figure skating. Gubanova could spend a whole day with Svetlanova Nikolaeva on the ice, the relationship was like `do a jump and I'll buy you a dress'.
The usual 16y.o `I lived through so much...' - the internet haters, apparently, are a thing.
When she was a kid she did get needles in the boots, someone borrowed her gloves and put something inside and put something she got a reaction from. Now such things doesn't happen. The gloves story was the worst, but it was all when she was a kid. It does happen sometimes that someone would tear the shoelaces. She came to the nationals and before the LP her laces tore, she thinks someone did it on purpose. Someone gave her white shoelaces, the coach coloured them with some tea (her boots were beige) and the laces became like a stone. She failed all her elements in the programme.
She is not addicted to the phone during the practices.
She admires Kostner, Hanyu and she does not like any of the Russian skaters much
Brrr.... I HATE the interviewer! Who lets this trash talk to the teenagers???
