How does the weight deviation thing work when you have a whole group of kids that are growing?
My other fear is one that it is too early to even know the results. As they get older will they all be able to produce children or will the minimal intake do damage to nature's plan of producing....damage to organs needed to make that happen. The oldest graduates are still young. We already know certain diets put off puberty so it does affect the plumbing.

Dmitri Soloviev posted a short video of him in training with Elena Ilinykh: https://www.instagram.com/p/BxM8H4RAhst/?utm_source=ig_twitter_share&igshid=1wi4fw7k45bud

My impression, based on that last interview with Elena, is that right now she could be pursuing a partnership with Soloviev, to skate either professionally (or possibly eligibly?), but that instead she's choosing to appear in a ballet/dance tour with new boyfriend Polunin, while keeping Soloviev on hold. (Am I interpreting this wrong?? Please correct me if so.)

Well, you can't argue with success, I suppose, but the interview's description of some of the Eteri group's training methods is disturbing. Daily weigh-ins and limiting weight gain to 200 grams is a recipe for eating disorders. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some of her skaters are already bulimic in order to meet the daily requirements. This also seems to explain why the skaters might limit their water intake. What is the effect of this on girls so young? No one knows.

New interview from Erokhov
https://fsrussia.ru/news/4389-aleksej-erokhov-srazu-nastroil-sebya-chto-prosto-tak-ne-sdamsya
“I set up myself right away, that I will not give up just like that”
google translation
World champion among junior 2018 Alexei Erokhov in the commentary to the FFKKR website told about what happened after the final of the Russian Cup, why he couldn’t speak at the junior world championship in Zagreb, what mode they are training now and what task the skater sets himself .

The last start of Alexei Erokhov this season was the performance in the Russian Cup final in Veliky Novgorod, the Athlete rolled only a short program and withdrew from the competition due to injury.

“After the final of the Cup of Russia, we returned to Moscow, turned to doctors, who said that I had a relapse of a previous injury - a stressful fracture of my leg. Because of this, they forbade me to ride, and it is clear that I could not go to Zagreb, the junior world championship.

Do not ride a month and a half. Engaged only in physical therapy and in the gym. It seems all healed. Out on the ice. Week slipped. A couple of days jumped. But he felt pain again. Did an MRI. It turned out that the injury did not heal. I had to be treated.

Now I can give a little exercise, but it is undesirable to jump until June. Just before the start of our collection in Novogorsk. Therefore, while doing only slip and in the gym.

In this situation, we have not dealt with new programs. I do not know what the coaches will offer, but I would leave the free program of this season. I like her, and I didn’t ride it many times because I missed the start due to injuries. So, if the coaches agree, I would change only the short program. I have a relatively short idea, but I will not speak in advance. This needs to be discussed with the trainers. Now the main thing for me is to recover, so that nothing will bother me, so that at the training session I can already begin training in full.

Of course, this season was not easy for me.When I learned about the injury, I immediately set myself up that I simply would not give up. This is just a trauma. Many people had injuries, and more serious, but they still returned to the sport and continued to compete. So there was no thought of ending a sports career at all. If I had done this, I would have remained innuendo, and then I would very much regret that I did not realize all that I can. And I want to go to the end.

As for studying, now I am recovering at the institute, because I missed this year, was on academic leave. Before the June gathering I close the session, turn to the second year, continue my studies. The task for the next season is to select the main team for the national team and fight for vouchers for the main international competitions. We start the season, most likely, with the "B competition." This year, I probably will not have the Grand Prix, so we need to start at other competitions, ”said Alexey Erokhov.

For this one we'll never really know in full. But based on comments Elena has made on her instagram, it's not as clear cut as we'd like to think. There is some resistance to giving them a chance as a couple. Certain persons have placed all bets singularly on Katsalapov and Sinitsina only with S/B as the spare. And in all honesty I don't sense that dance is really the priority as it was decades ago. And maybe quite frankly she's personally just tired of the politics.

How do you know that she is keeping him on hold? It can also be the other way around. He could have offered Bobrova that she can come back and skate with him, and Ilynikh might be waiting for Bobrova to make up her mind. After all, Ilynikh did say that she is waiting for something before she is able to confirm whether they will be skating together. We don’t know if she is waiting for something to happen from her side, or if it is from Soloviev’s side (e.g. waiting fot Bobrova to decide). In such case, I wouldn’t really blame Ilynikh that she also pursues other things including various ballet/dance shows.

She is absolutely adorable and talented, and from what is written on social media everyone loves her at Sambo-70; she is a “diva” and a “show girl”. Looking forward to see her skate. She was at Pluschenko’s school until recently.

Looks like juniors will be owned by Tutberidze's girls again with both Valieva and Kanysheva and who knows how the newbies will do. I do hope Panova has some good girls to put forth because I dearly love her in the KnC since we're bereft of Tsareva.

That was my immediate question too. These weigh-ins are harmful to growing kids. So I suppose it's like wrestling where the guys dehydrate themselves right before weigh-in whether by exercise or sauna, and when they get that "ideal" weight they get off the scale and drink a gallon of liquid to rehydrate? Ridiculous.

I guess they're only allowed to grow by 200g a day... What happens if a skater fails a weighing, are they sent home?

I remember reading that in China - where skaters live in a dormitory - skaters were punished for gaining too much weight by being required to eat in the coaches' dining room for a certain period of time.

If you are an average female skater, there is no place for you in Tutberidze's group.the Russian system is such that she doesn't have to take all skaters in order to pay the bills. The men and boys have had mote latitude, but that's changing as well.

Not only Valieva and Kanysheva, but also Usacheva and Khromykh. In the past Tutberidze had one or two decent girls in juniors, but last two years it is suddenly three. With so many girls trying to get to Tutberidze’s group, Tutberidze can pick who she wants to and get rid of those who are not progressing fast enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if in another few years her junior students will take over Russian spots at junior grand prix events. If she manages to have top five or six junior girls, that’s ten or twelve junior grand prix spots gone out of 14. That doesn’t leave much space for other coaches.

Let’s see how that translate to her seniors. What will happen when all those become senior eligible. Will she get rid of the weaker ones and keeps the strongest? After all, only three can take the podium. If she keeps extra two as spare ones (to make up for any injuries and keep competition within them - fighting for survival), she can be getting rid of the rest.

It's the Hunger Games. And it's happening in real life for Eteri's girls.

Evgenia Medvedeva for Golden Skate on her Stars On Ice experience, last season , new programs
https://youtube.com/watch?v=4W9OeTsp9-w&feature=youtu.be
Thanks! I posted this article in the CSOI thread yesterday (it was cited in a Russian article): https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/a...ent/arts/she-knows-butterflies-509572852.html
In the midst of rehearsals ahead of her debut tour with Stars on Ice — which lands at Bell MTS Place on Wednesday night — Medvedeva confirmed a little-known fact.
For as long as she can remember, the 19-year-old Russian star has suffered from lepidopterophobia — the unrealistic fear of butterflies and moths.
"Everyone else is afraid of spiders and I’m afraid of butterflies. (If a butterfly comes near) I will start laughing and crying, both at the same time," the Olympic silver medallist revealed.
