I like Madison and Evan! I admit it started out a bit as a spite thing because of what I perceived as OTT hostility against them in their first season even though no one really knew the circumstances or the people involved. But they've developed nicely and have gotten better every season. I also think their FD this season is one of the best out there, I probably only like the French a bit better.

So it's mostly to do with personal preferences, I see. Haha, that's okay. Everyone likes different things in skaters. Thanks ☺

I liked them at Four Continents, from videos though I though the Shibutanis should have been first there but they made it up in their long program for sure! Nice to see only a point difference between the top two couples, that's good going to Worlds!

I like their programmes more than their skating :shuffle:I think they should go back to the original black FD costumes. Love Madison's personality on the ice she gives it everything they can really perform.:glamor: Skating wise though I can see the Shibutanis are better but I find them zzzz .C/B are more exciting to watch.

I just do not buy into this team for some REASON!!! I want too but i just dont. For one, the height difference puts me in the mindset of watching a pair. as opposed to a dance team. Also, the choreography is a bit blah to me. I approve of the costume change as I think the other one looked messy, especially at the end with the flurry they did of choreographic lifts. To me, Evan needs work. He is powerful no doubt but compared to other top male dancers, his expression, body line and matching of Madison make the relatively newness of their partnership stick out.

For more reasons than just this team, I really wish Igor had a better choreographer in his camp. The question is not whether or not he CAN choreograph but rather is he as good at that part of the process as he is at developing technique? Too bad Shae Lynn cant move to the states. It might not be a bad idea for him to scout new talent that is untapped. I'm surprised that ice dance and ballroom dont collaborate more. I have a friend with a dance degree and he feels like the earning potential is not sufficient enough. I think he meant more freelance work as opposed to being full time. Also, the dance world views the ice dance world in some cases as being predominately free style skaters doing elements together VS being dancers on ice. Tessa and Scott ( specifically Tessa) were dancers. You can see Tessa on Youtube dancing in the studio to hip hop music and she's actually good. It's not cheesy or super vanilla and stiff... damn...i went on a tangent...

Anyway, this team has potential. Igor is doing his best and he does a masterful job. I believe that both halves of the Igor and Marina are realizing how invaluable each other were. Marina has technical specialists everywhere yet her teams are missing levels and are not as proficient. Igor's teams got great technical marks but his teams rarely produce memorable, well defined programs. I wish for our sport that he would find that missing piece.

Evan: "Off to Shanghai for the World Championships! This guy is in for a looong flight. #WCShanghai" https://instagram.com/p/0f2WICtcnz/

Evan on "March Madness" (college basketball tournament that's underway): http://www.teamusa.org/News/2015/March/19/Evan-Bates-A-Case-Of-March-Madness
In between college basketball games you’ll have to watch the World Figure Skating Championships next week. The biggest competition of the season is starting in Shanghai next Wednesday and ending Saturday. I’ll be leaving this Saturday, so I’ll have to find a live stream on the web to watch some of the games next week.
Priorities! :D

Since its 2 a.m. my time, I'm not entirely sure I'm not dreaming. Madison & Evan in first after the Short Dance!

Anything can happen in the FD of course, but wow!

I loved the way they really told their story in their FD! :cheer: :cheer2: And congratulations on their first ever world medal! I wish their twizzles had been a bit better, but it was a lovely performance.

Some quotes from the USFSA Worlds page:

on free dance) Chock – It was a great performance. I had a bobble on my twizzle but after that, I was like, ‘Nope, I want this too badly and I’m going to fight my tail off to get it.’”

Bates – It was not easy. I am so proud of the way we performed. This is unchartered territory for us and it’s harder than it looks. To manage the stress and go out and deliver a great performance, I don’t even know what to say.

Bates – We’re thrilled with our silver medal here and hope to find ourselves in this position many times in the future. Today we’re really proud of ourselves.

(on medal) Chock – Our goal this season was to medal at worlds. We’ve accomplished that. Now we will up our goals for next year and come back fighting.

They scored their season's best in both the SD and the FD.

Congrats to CB on their silver medal, also to the Shibs on finishing fifth. Ice dancing continues to be the strong suit for US skating these days.

I honestly thought CB would finish third, behind PC and WP, so the second place finish was a pleasant surprise to me.

I'm glad they went back to the original costumes. Madison's dress was just perfect for this dance. I loved An American in Paris; it just felt so cool to have them skate this dance so well representing the US internationally.

I'm glad they kept trying to up the ante and push for the highest levels. And Madison is a wonderful little actress on the ice. Keep going.

They really created an intimate, playful mood with this performance that I found very charming. In a performance sense, I though it was their best of the year, as did the judges. :encore::encore::encore:

I hope their next year's program's will be even better!
