And just to diss Nancy further....she also wasn't smart enough to figure out it was easier to get someone to smash up your opponents than face them on the ice. Imagine...she thought working hard and not cheating was the way to go
What part about not finding out until AFTER it happened don't you understand? She might have known Jeff and Shawn were up to something but not what or who, and do you think she would really be seriously by the police if she called and said I think my hubby and his idiot friend are going to do something to someone but I don't know who, when, or why. Shawn had all kind of crazy schemes that he never acted on - she probably thought they wouldn't do it. (like Shawn defending the us in Iraq or Jeff saying "yes, honey, I will get a job).
Nancy was gifted a lot of medals. She skated horribly in 93 nationals and was given the win when if judging on merit, she should of been 6th or 7th (behind a 12 year old Kwan
. I would of actually had Tonya 2nd in 93 instead of4th, and Bobek1st instead of 3rd, dropped Ervin to Bronze, and had Tonia K 4th. We might of had 3 spots with that team.
Tonya didn't cheat. She did work hard- she was landing 3axels in practices at 94 nationals but didn't attempt it in the comp (didn't need to since Kwan and Bobek had already fallen in their programs ). Tonya had the best spins of any us lady in the 90's , and Nancy's spins were the worst among the females in the world. Tonya was punished severely for something she didn't even do. Stripping the title gives the erroneous impression that Nancy would of won (when Nancy would of been lucky to get 2nd). Tonya had a lot of natural talent, but you don't land 3axels without practicing. Abuse by a spouse/boyfriend can be used as a mitigating factor, and there is no question Jeff abused Tonya but the skating world and most fans believed Jeff over her which I never understood. Tonya was a much better skater than Nancy but for some reason most skating fans don't seem to realize that. Nancy had the support of the fed because of the way she looked and she played the "ice princess" role (and ended upcoming across as fake) instead of being herself.
Nancy was no angel either- the affair with her married agent who she later married herself. Nancy also made questionable decisions- getting an ingrown toenail removed after 93 world's short and before 93 world's long wasn't the best thing to do. She could of waited until after the competition to get that taken care of. Nancy also had occasions where she slacked off on training ( due partly to all those endorsements). If they had got it right in 92 -both Tonya and Surya skated better than Nancy in the long at Albertville, but Nancy was gifted the bronze . If Tonya had received the bronze like she should of ( and Surya should of been 4th) , Tonya would of earned money from touring and might of got a few endorsements.

I did say US lady. Irina is Russian. Tonya and Irina were not Mack trucks. Both were gifted athletic skaters with huge jumps, fast spins, and lots of speed and power.

That is just speculation on your part. No one knows for sure how much, if anything, Tonya knew. Personally I believe she knew something was up, but not what exactly - but that is a belief, not proven by evidence.

I don't think it's fair to make that assessment without knowing the circumstances. Nancy's husband's previous marriage might have already been over when they got together, or close to.
She and her husband have been married for a long time and have three kids, so apparently the marriage has worked, in which case their initial involvement was genuine, not just a quick fling for fun.

After the title was taken away from Tonya, it remains vacant. There is no officially recognized ladies' champion for that year. So how you can understand that as giving the impression that Nancy would HAVE won, I really don't know. If the USFSA thought Nancy should have won, they could have done that by giving her the title instead. But they didn't.
I’d always thought the championship was offered to Kwan, but she didn’t want to win her first title by default.
Tonya lived in podunk county. The Gomer Pyle’s working there would’ve laughed her off the phone if she called in with that story. Portland PD likely would’ve slammed the phone down on her ear for wasting their time. She would have needed to contact Nancy directly to be taken seriously, which would likely be seen as a thinly veiled threat to throw her off her game. Nancy was known for having a fragile psyche.

To the contrary, I would say that she's been quite successful and overcome adversity. She moved on from the scandal to get married, have a child, and become a landscaper. As such, she has demonstrated the individualism and fighting spirit that American society loves. She could have just given up, developed mental health issues, and lived on the government's dime. Instead, she reclaimed her life and looked to the future.
Good for her, and I wish her all the best on DWTS. I was so surprised to see how well she can dance - at 47, and not in the best of shape.

I happen to be very smart. I have a degree in Accounting which I was never able to use because they wanted experience along with the degree. I think Tonya was framed by Jeff, and the usfsa simply used that to get rid of someone they never liked in the first place. Claire Ferguson thought Tonya should of resigned even if she could have proved she was completely innocent. I do have a brain, and if anyone ever calls me "not too bright" again , I will report them. My grammar isn't perfect but no one's is. This isn't English class (where I would make the effort to get it correct).
Tonya and Surya were better skaters than Nancy. Both girls did more in their programs. Nancy didn't raise her tech level until the 94 season. In 92, Nancy has less tech content planned in her free and made more mistakes than the other girls which the judges didn't penalize her for. Nancy NEVER beat Kristi. Tonya beat Kristi and Midori on multiple occasions. Tonya was perfectly capable of beating Nancy on her own. Kristi and Midori were also tougher competition (and maintained their skills as pros) than Oksana in 94.
If Tonya had reported "Jeff and Shawn are up to something" to the police or even directly to Nancy, they would of laughed in her face. Jeff never faced any real consequences for abusing Tonya. I don't get how Nancy became the "favorite" in the first place if you only judge on skating skill. Most skaters can't afford Vera Wang (although I think Vera was actually giving the outfits to her). The Scotvolds were better at the political part of skating than Rawlinson.

Keep babbling on. You have no idea what she did or didn't do and seeing she is a proven liar you never will. All she had to do was ask someone to make a phone call asking them to be careful..that something might happen. She let them know where Nancy would be.

imo, Tonya did have that going for her as a skater and could have regained that if she didn’t constantly f-up every chance at redemption. Even if one buys into the (imho unbelievable) idea that she was the innocent fodder to her husband’s bad idea, the fact that 24 years later she still chooses to go on national tv and in an interview continuously slag off the victim as a sore looser and unsportsmanlike while trying to claim that she’s the real victim just because the woman who was physically attack for no reason made some $$ and she didn’t: that right there tells America all they need to know about Tonya Harding the person. She can spew all the god talk she wants, but in an interview on tv, that is not what Jesus would do.

A degree in accounting is not in itself indicative of a superior intellect. Especially one that you were never able to use.
Most accountants start out with education and no experience, then proceed to get experience and build their career (same for people in other professions). But even that is not indicative of a superior intellect.
So, it would seem you are way behind the 8th ball.
Good to know you'd make the effort somewhere other than this board. FYI many of us who are native English speakers do have perfect grammar because we learned it in school and it is important to us. It doesn't take an effort.

So, how about that dancing.
A lot of people get degrees and aren't able to get jobs in the field they trained for. I have been with the same company for 26 years. Its a reasonable commute to work although the state route I have to take isn't that great in the winter when you get snow and ice. There are a lot of people in the factory that I work with that have degrees they were not able to use. One of the machine operators/fill-in lead has a medical assistant degree and did leave the factory once for an medical assistant job. She came back because she makes more at the factory than she did working in her field.
A high school and college classmate had a degree in education and actually made it all the way up to superintendent in his school district. He got caught diverting funds for personal use and went to prison. I am pretty sure he is banned from teaching and superintendent jobs. He had to use his teacher pension to pay back the school system (and get out of prison early). I have no idea what he is doing now.
I graduated from college in 87. The area I live in was in a recession at the time. I also didn't have my own car at that point, and my dad had strict limits on how far I could go in his cars (he usally had at least 3). He checked the miles and the gas to make sure my brother and I didn't go over. The limit was 1/2 hour away and I live in a small town. I did move to a bigger town once I got my own car but by that time I had senority (which is very important), benefits, and I liked the job. I am also single so I couldn't afford to take a risk and take a job that might or might not work out. I had to move back to that small town to help my mom maintain the big house (which is a little bit too much for me also but I am stuck with a mortgage that I wouldn't be able to clear if I sold). My brother and sister in law wanted their share of the money right away instead of simply paying 1/2 of her small loan off and co-owning the property. I should of sold (the stairs are becoming an issue).
To get this back on topic, Tonya and Sasha are doing Viennese walze to time of my life , and freestyle to I will survive by the Pussycat Dolls. Liz Manley skated to the Gloria Gaynor version I believe. Adam's freestyle includes props.

Someone asked why there hasn't been anyone from world's dumbest watching Tonya dance in person. Danny is a radio dj in Seattle (and would be willing to do the show since a Partridge hasn't been represented yet). Todd Bridges has a new family-friendly reality show (he calls it the opposite of the Kardashians). I am not sure what Leif Garrett is up to (he looked so much better when he was younger and had hair). Loni Love is one of the hosts of The Real. I think Loni should do the show (could any of the male pros lift her?).
I wonder how Adam would react if he had to go up against Amy Fisher (who has done some reality tv) on a celebrity version of American Ninja Warrior or Fear Factor (if its still on).

Tonya gets slagged because she cheated in her sport. If she had used performance enhancing drugs it would be the same thing. She would have been thrown out of the sport forever and lost anything she had won.She is further slagged as she acts arrogant on the show and tries to act like a victim as specified by DWTS to get ratings. They put athletes in the same sport on the show to build up the friction routine. When you go on a show like DWTS you can (depending on their storyline)lose all dignity. She will get her money but she will always be hated.
