UPDATED: OMFG . . . Adam Rippon, Tonya Harding and Mirai Nagasu are on the DWTS' all-athlete cast

Trudi? Seriously?

Hi!

I also remember Morry Stillwell posting with some regularity on RSSIF. (He was a long-time judge, head of the GP Commission and, I think, past president of USFS.)

Morry made some claims against Tonya that couldn't have been true . He tried to say she unstrapped her dress at 93 nationals midair when her hands were no where near the strap, and she did come down on one foot. Unless Tonya has superpowers I don't know about that isn't possible. He also insulted both of her coaches (Diane more than Dody). He posted the death threat was fake shortly after it happened after 93 regionals (after Tonya was wrongfully placed 4th behind Tonia K and didn't make the world team). I do like Tonia K but her skating did not become world class competitive until after she finished school. He stopped posting when I pointed out the only way he could know for sure that death threat was fake was if he had called in himself. I will take full credit for chasing Morry away :).

She didn't conspire to injure Nancy. She failed to turn Jeff in after finding out after the fact. The lifetime ban was far too harsh. She should have been allowed to keep the 94 national title as well, since stripping it gives the erroneous impression that Kerrigan would have won. Tonya was a better skater than Nancy and her skates at 94 nationals were better than anything Nancy had done up to that point. Lillehamar was a fluke for Nancy- she normally choked in the free and didn't there (but it wasn't flawless-the doubled flip, the shaky 2axel, the underrotated 2nd 3toe of the 3toe/3toe combo, poor spins in general, lack of speed, and I don't like hold the leg spirals). Tonya was the only woman still competing at that time who could land a 3 axel (and there are videos of her doing textbook ones in practice at 94 nationals). Ito was competing on the pro circuit with Kristi.

Kerrigan's coach Scotvold also took every opportunity to put down Tonya's skating, mean comments about her weight, mean comments about Surya (he said she couldn't skate despite the fact Surya was far better than Nancy ever was as well). 92 worlds- he thought Hubert should of medalled, and thought Tonya's 6th was too high, Nancy was gifted silver. He was even quoted as saying he would of been happy with 5th for Nancy as long as she placed above Tonya. Scotvold unfortunately was better at influencing judges than Rawlinson was.

Tonya thought that just skating your best should have been enough without playing the political game. Skating would have been better off if there were true. Kerrigan's skating was not that good- they just hid her weaknesses by dressing her in Vera Wang. I preferred Tonya over Nancy because Tonya actually went for the difficult jumps and was an excellent spinner. Nancy thought she was entitled to medals for simply showing up, and too often the judges obliged by giving them to her no matter how she skated.

Where do you get this horsesh**it from. Are you Tonya, Jeff, Shawn or her mother? Anyone else does not know and the list are all liars. She heard them discussing it and did nothing to stop it or give warning...Lifetime ban is just punishment. She also should not have been allowed to receive money for the movie and DWTS.

Shawn is dead. I am not Tonya or her mother. I'm female so I can't possibly be Jeff. I personally believe she was framed by her ex. Tonya skated too well at 94 nationals to have known anything in advance. She overheard them discussing taking an unnamed someone else (no mention of Nancy) and she told them she didn't need their help she could skate well enough to make the team on her own and she did. If she had call ed the police and said my ex hubby and friends were talking about trying to take out my competititors but I don't know which ones, I don't know how or when, etc, she would have been put in the loony bin. Shawn and Jeff had several other schemes that they never acted on- so she didn't take it seriously.

Tonya was an excellent skater who was frequently undermarked due to being too athletic. Tonya's presentation was actually quite good (as was Midori's) but they were so far ahead of the rest of the field technically, their presentation was undervalued.

Nancy's skating was never that good. She was and is very slow getting around the rink, she did double the flip and the 2axel was very shaky in her free. Shin Amino would have called underrotation on the 2nd 3toe if he had been around back then. Her disaster skate in the 93 world free was closer to her true talent level than her 94 Olympic performances.
Tonya should be allowed to make money off the movie- its her life story. Nancy is barely in it, the actress playing Nancy only has one line. Evy Scotvold did make nasty comments about Tonya, Surya, and any female skater he deemed "overweight". I do have problems with a very overweight old coach judging young female athletes as overweight when they aren't. I think Evy should of been banned for causing many eating disorders among his female skating students.

She is entitled to the money from DTWS. They invited her to do the show- she accepted. Whatever money she earns there is based on her dancing talent, and her first dance was excellent. Mirai's was better. I didn't like the music for Adam's.

One thing that is really strange about the whack heard around the world:

The fake bodyguard told at least a half dozen people about it even before it happened. None of these people went to the police! He was always making up outrageous stories. Everyone thought it was just another one of his fantasies. Several witnesses came forward after it happened - they were mortified that it turned out to be true.

That was my point - that maybe Tonya thought it was one of Jeff 's and Shawn's fantasies. Nothing ever happened with their other schemes, so she didn't take it seriously. One of those witnesses was actually a minister if I recall correctly that was taking a community college with Shawn.

The timing of when that note showed up is suspicious as well. FBI wasn't going to prosecute the case until the note showed up. It had been in that restaurant's dumpster a long time as well ( I wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant that didn't get rid of their trash on a regular basis). A good lawyer would of discredited that darn note. Tonya said the handwriting with the times wasn't hers.

Each couple will dance to the following songs (in alphabetical order):

Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson – Quickstep – “Make Way” by Aloe Blacc

Arike Ogunbowale and Gleb Savchenko – Foxtrot – “What About Us” by P!nk

Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson – Viennese Waltz – “Next To Me” by Imagine Dragons

Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber – Quickstep – “Redneck Woman” by Gretchen Wilson

For the team dances, the teams are divided up as follows (in alphabetical order):

Team 1950s Tennis – “… Baby One More Time” by The Baseballs
Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson
Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lindsay Arnold
Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber

Team 1970s Football – “Instant Replay” by Dan Hartman
Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson
Arike Ogunbowale and Gleb Savchenko
Jennie Finch Daigle and Keo Motsepe
Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten

There is an instragram photo of Tonya standing next to Kareem. They separated the two basketball players ( Kareem and Arike). They have the football player on the tennis team, and Adam on the football team. I wonder if Arike will wear the heels this time. If they judge on talent, Kareem and Arike should be the next to go- the 2 basketball players are the weakest dancers.

Tonya has the right to keep the money from Dtws to support herself and her son. I'm sure her hubby is working somewhere, but I strongly suspect dtws is paying significantly more than her landscaping jobs. Whatever she earns there is based on her dancing talent.

I find that little girl voice so annoying and grating. I understand that she can't do anything about it, but I find her so hard to listen to.

KMT has a voice like that, too.
(((Japanfan))) Not that I disagree with you but anything that puts Nagasu in a negative light might as well be suicide on FSU :shuffle:

So, down I go in :EVILLE:

Japanfan must not of ever heard interviews with Zayak and Kwiatkowski. Dorothy had a squeaky voice as well.

No, I've not heard interviews with those three skaters. And will make sure I never do. :)

So, I guess she knows.

I hate my voice too, but for the opposite reason: it's too deep (long-time smoker). People tell me that I have a wonderful voice actually, but I just don't feel that way.

Now that she landed her 3A at the Olympics, I am kind of over being hypersupportive. Say what you want. She got her prizes and I'm glad for her, so I'm good.

BTW " @Japanfan " . . . ummm have you ever heard how Japanese females sound when they talk, in general?

Mirai being Japanese-American, I am not surprised by her voice at all, although I will not be asking her to sing anytime soon.

. . . ever hear how Kristi Yamaguchi talks?

Oh yes, I lived in Japan for several years in the 80s.

However, all the Japanese women did not have squeaky voices. So I certainly don't think Mirai's voice is the result of her being Japanese-American. Some women just have that kind of voice. As pointed out earlier, KMT has one also.

It was the Japanese women's mannerisms that got to me at the time - always folding their bodies up on the train to make themselves small, and covering their mouths when they smiled or laughed.

While the women folded up on the train, the men would read pornographic magazines or newspapers on full display for all to see. :(

And the men used to grope women on the crowded trains. I've heard that in recent years, there are separate train carriages just for women, and do hope that is true.

. . . ever hear how Kristi Yamaguchi talks?

Exactly. But it just fed in to the haters ‘confirmation bias’ that she either knew and/or participated. Tonya did herself no favors by making the statement she made in the 20/20 special.

I wonder what she actually meant by her comments on 20/20, clearly how her comments have been received is not what she set out to achieve. Let's have a look at a timeline

1994. Nancy gets attacked
next 23 years Tonya said she knew nothing
2017. A movie suggests that not only did Tonya know nothing, Jeff didn't either
2017 (2) Tonya suddenly remembers that she heard Sean and JEFF planning something

Coincidence? Or were her words more aimed at attacking his brand new self-exonerating version of what happened?

Even if we learn the truth now not everyone will accept it because the truth won't agree with what each of us thinks is the truth. For me the fact that Jeff refused all payment for his input in the movie because "he didn't want to earn a cent from ruining her career" speaks volumes

Jeff refused payment for the movie?

What hit me was that his and Tonya’s “revisionist history” on the attack (suddenly and conveniently it was the dead guy who planned and enacted it totally on his own) that I could believe Jeff and Tonya got together before being interviewed to concoct that BS story for the film.
