UPDATED: OMFG . . . Adam Rippon, Tonya Harding and Mirai Nagasu are on the DWTS' all-athlete cast

I don't have a problem with Rippon being on DTWS. I am going to actually watch it this season (ending my boycott because they had Kerrigan (who was no angel either- nice girls don't have affairs with men that are still married).

Wait, you boycotted DWTS because one of the "stars" had an affair with someone who was married?

How have you EVER watched DWTS?

Meh. I’m not exactly a Tonya apologist, but some of the pearl clutching regarding her DWTS is a little bit over the top.

It’s Dancing With the Stars, season 74, and no one under that age watches it anyway...
I feel just awful for all the senior's who think they will be tuning into a night of family friendly morally up-right television and instead they will have to see a lifelong harded criminal Tonia and Adam who's alternative lifestyle is now infamous throughout the United States.

This Dancing should have no connections to profanity, looseness, and depravity but will that be the case? Mark my words the answer is "no"! I miss the days when the show had good role models as contestants such as Meryl Davis, she has never said a four letter word or engaged in dirty sinfull behavior in her life. She and Little Kim were truly good contestants, now the show is ruining it's legacy just to try to get money and ratings. I am furious. My wife feels the same way.

Our boycott is now official.

ps What do you mean by "pearl clutching" Mrs. Void? I gave my wife a pearl necklace on her birthday last year, is it some-how related?

You and your fake wife will be sorely missed.

So much to unpack here.

You make a good point! I think you should start a petition for wholesome up-standing Tonia Kwiatkowski to get Tonya Harding's spot on Dancing With the Stars. She's such a natural dancer!

Adam who's alternative lifestyle is now infamous throughout the United States.

I think the politically correct term is "homosexual agenda." :p

Our boycott is now official.

 Shit just got real.

ps What do you mean by "pearl clutching" Mrs. Void?

If I'm a Mrs., you're reading Men's Fitness for the articles.

I gave my wife a pearl necklace on her birthday last year, is it some-how related?

:scream::rofl:

I'm pretty sure Lil Kim answers this in How Many Licks?

Thanks for the links!

So, if I understood right, to calculate the Q score they collect the data about the % of population who have heard about [insert X]. However, the Q score in itself doesn't directly tell that %, because the score factors in whether those who have heard of X have a favorable impression of X or not.

And apparently the data re: the % of population who has heard of X is not available for random FSU posters who are curious about these things because it's a business, and why would they want to give that information away for free?

Don't know a lot about Q scores. I do know there was a time when they were very important to advertisers and tv production companies. What was special about them was that they didn't just measure how well known someone was, but also factored in how well liked they were. If a company was going to spend a bazillion dollars on a celebrity endorsement, they wanted to make sure the person hawking their product was not only know by potential customers, but liked and/or respected. Q scores were important for actors because producers would factor them into casting decisions.

I don't know if Q scores are as influential nowadays. In the 1970s and 1980s scores were divulged in print articles, but I don't think the company itself released them. They were probably leaked by agents and employees.

Some DWTS news came out today, more to follow tomorrow: 'Dancing With The Stars-Athletes' Pros Revealed, Who Will They Partner With?

What is known about the format & schedule at this point: Everything We Know About the Mini-Season of DWTS
Fans can look forward to a four-week season. There will be 10 athletes competing on Season 26, and the show will be one night a week — no Tuesday results shows are scheduled this season.

For the first three weeks, the show will be two hours long. The finale show airs Monday, May 21, but DWTS only has an hour to wrap up the season. (...)

What we're not sure about is how they are doing eliminations. Will eliminations begin the very first week? Will the show wait until the second week? How many contestants will be eliminated each week? There are a lot of questions left to be answered by DWTS producers.

ETA: There's speculation in the media that Nadia Comaneci will be doing DWTS too, but as far as I can tell, it's based solely on Tom Bergeron making "a perfect 10" reference (see here). So, we'll see about that.

In addition to Adam Rippon and Tonya Harding there are other great athletes competing this season. I just read that gymnast Nadia Comenici has signed to compete in this shortened season. All competitors will be announced on Good Morning America Friday,
April 13.

Based on spoilers I have seen, it appears that Adam will be partnered with either Witney or Lindsay. Emma is paired with a baseball player and Sharna is with a football player. Jenna would be too tall.

Announcement (includes video): http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/a...superstar-athletes-face-off/story?id=54406972

The 10 athletes and their pro partners:

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with Lindsay Arnold
Former MLB star Johnny Damon with Emma Slater
Olympic figure skater Mirai Nagasu with Alan Bersten
Olympic luger Chris Mazdzer with Witney Carson
NFL star Josh Norman with Sharna Burgess
Olympic softball player Jennie Finch with Keo Motsepe
Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding with Sasha Farber
Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson with Artem Chigvintsev
Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon with Jenna Johnson
University of Notre Dame women's basketball player Arike Ogunbowale with Gleb Savchenko

30-second promo for the Monday, April 30th premiere: https://twitter.com/DancingABC/status/984771572064911361

It'll run for 4 consecutive weeks and the finale will be on Monday, May 21st.

@jkl started a DWTS thread in OTBT (thanks!)... ETA that it has since been merged into the original thread started here in GSD... the full athlete/pro partner list I posted in OTBT is now above (post #194).

@annie720, Alan has filled in for other pros a couple of times & I thought he did very well. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do when he has to choreograph as well as dance. I agree with you about jenna, although she improved last year. I'm not too fond of keo & gleb. And Artem is a fabulous dancer but not the best teacher.

Ouch, major negative reaction to Tonya in the Twitter comments. And really - calling her a figure skating LEGEND???? Peggy Fleming is a legend. Scott Hamilton is a legend. Michelle Kwan is a legend. Yu Na Kim and Mao Asada are legends. That's an insult to the legendary skaters who played by their rules and busted their tails to get where they did and also to her skating competitors on DWTS. But they have to say something to stoke the ratings fire.

That said, very happy for Mirai that she got her wish and I hope she and Adam kick Tonya's booty.

Marai at least is a better representatative of USA values then the awful Ashley Wagner, who would of done nothing but say liberal socialite messages. Having Adam on the show is bad enough, hopefully Marai will maintain her values and not have him rub off all over her even more then it all ready has.

I don't know who Ogunbufhalwrje is but the name is very intriguing!

In case anyone wasn't watching Good Morning America this morning, here it is.

Adam Rippon, Tonya Harding and more athletes to face off in 'DWTS' season 26

I'm going to watch because this will be totally entertaining to me! Let the dancing begin!

HOLY CRAP.. that is a SMALL CAST... wait, its almost May... why is DWTS starting just now??? Im so out of the loop... why is the cast this small and why is it mid-April and this hasn't started yet????

Whats wrong with Adam's partner.. she seems like a cutey.....

I wonder how they'll do it with only four weeks? Will there be gold, silver and bronze mirror balls awarded?
I hope Tonya does not get any of the ball, it is a dis-grace her and Adam "Alternative life style" are on the show in the first place and both of them do not need any more balls to justify the awful things they have done to our sport and to our country.

Marai seems like she might benefit from getting a ball, good for her!
