Can you summarize for people who don’t want to watch TSL?It's not mysterious, listen to the TSL interview.
Go to 49mn in the interview. He talks about legacy, I suppose it's a coaching method or something like that. It doesn't last long, 2 or 3mn.Can you summarize for people who don’t want to watch TSL?

Apparently they’re more than close friends which might explain the abrupt end to the partnership with Eliana. I’m not personally okay with 14 year olds dating 18 year olds.... but to each their own. She has since turned 15 and he 19. With everything going on with SafeSport/John Coughlin/ talk about male/female partnership imbalances.... I don’t know if passionate under age dating is the correct image to portray.
In this partnership it would be a girl who initiated it.
... but an adult man should still be able to recognize that she is underage and say no
First of all, I was discussing the on-ice partnerships, not trying to trigger an OTT discussion about off-ice personal relationships. My reference to Ian being 'passionate' has to do with his on-ice approach to his skating with his new partner. We do not know all of the factors involved in Ian's split with Eliana, so it's counterproductive to engage in endless speculation. They have both moved on in a positive way, which is the main takeaway.
My saying that Ian & Katarina appear to be 'close friends,' is enough I think without the over-the-line editorializing that has ensued. It's none of our business regarding teenagers in this sport dating each other. Their parents' attentive supervision, guidance and counsel are the major rudder. From all evidence, these two young people appear to have a positive, healthy relationship and connection with each other on and off-the-ice. Crossing the line on public forums with negative comments about their ages, etc., due to recent events in this sport, is completely inappropriate. I see no reason for anyone ringing alarm bells of any kind.
Just because you enjoyed Ian's partnership with Eliana and you appear to feel for Eliana because of the abrupt split, it is no reason to side-eye and to talk negatively about Ian's and Katarina's friendship and subsequent partnership.
What are you trying to say?? As far as what any of us know, and based purely upon Katarina's Instagram, she asked Ian to take her to the prom recently. It was a very cute way of also announcing their new partnership. It's my impression that Ian is the one who broached the skating partnership question.
As we know, there are many instances in which skaters have a separate off-ice relationship with someone other than their on-ice partner. And there are plenty of cases where skaters are in relationships together while also being on-ice partners. Each situation is unique and personal. We should maybe take a step back from OTT speculation. Teenagers have a right to be in relationships of their own choosing, even as they engage in sports together. When there are underage differences, it is largely up to the parents to provide guidance and supervision. There is no basis nor reason to believe that either of these young people have imbalances in their behavior, relationships, personalities, characters or motivations.
Again, such comments are inappropriately prying into personal matters that are none of our business. You don't know anything @deegee about the intimate details of their friendship.
I apologize to Ian & Katarina for anything I said earlier in this thread that may have triggered this off-base discussion about private matters. I wish you both good luck in your skating careers and in your individual life journeys! Your skating is a joy to watch and very inspirational.
As today is Ian's birthday, I wish him many blessings and a very happy day of celebration!
Which part of the interview?
I too enjoyed hearing from Romain. Very professional and lovely person. I didn’t quite make the connection about the legacy project and then the announcement etc and so thanks for clearing that up.Apparently, the reference is to the TSL interview with Romain Haguenauer, posted in July. I don't watch many TSL episodes and interviews these days, particularly not in full, but I watched that one when it debuted. I was mesmerized by Romain Haguenauer. The interview for me was all about Romain's passion, sweetness, and his earnest delight and joy for the work he does in ice dance and for the people he collaborates with and for the young people he teaches, guides, mentors. A big thumbs up, again for Romain's genuine authenticity, humility and generosity, which came across so poignantly in this interview.
Someone already referenced the point in the interview at which Romain makes a reference to working on a project with Marie-France & Patch to establish a lasting legacy for what they have achieved, continuing well into the future. The precipitating question is posed at about 47:35 in a catty way by DL starting off with citing Zhulin's dismissive description of Gadbois style. Romain remains very calm and patient in his reaction, waiting until DL actually poses a real question regarding the technique taught at Gadbois. Romain answers by talking about his own training in ice dance ("the French style is a mixture of the old British style with the Russian style..."). Romain then takes his response to a revealing and informative level in discussing his view of how he and his compadres have melded European 'attack and modernity' with North American 'softness and aesthetic' into something unique and impactful. He briefly alludes to a 'legacy project' starting at about 49:15...
are you kidding me? i wasn't prying into anyone's personal relationship. i was responding to someone who was accusing an underage girl of initiating a relationship with an adult man. back off if your reading comprehension sucks so much.
Please let's not attack each other on here. The new season is starting and I personally am looking toward counting my blessings and trying to be grateful and positive about being able to watch and enjoy this sport. I'm appreciative of all the young people who participate and contribute to what is an extremely difficult sport to pursue and to master successfully.
I am not trying to be on a high horse, so I'm sorry if you feel that's my approach. I already apologized to Ian & Katarina for anything I said earlier that may have triggered this 'personal relationship' discussion trending in an over-the-line direction. These two young people are both teenagers, regardless of legal age differences. Your reply was obviously suggesting that the older party, who is legally considered to be an adult, should 'say no' to flirtatious advances by an underage teenager. I simply responded that I feel any such discussion is prying into personal matters that are none of our business. If you look at the entirety of my prior post on this topic, I replied to everyone who engaged in the discussion for whatever reason.
Best wishes to you, and I hope you enjoy the new season that is already upon us.
deegee said:the legal age difference matters. at the point that ANYONE is an adult, they have a responsibility in any romantic relationship with a minor. my response had nothing to do with with the two people in question, but again as a response to the person who intimated that the minor in the relationship may have been the person in the wrong.
There is no wrong here.the legal age difference matters. at the point that ANYONE is an adult, they have a responsibility in any romantic relationship with a minor. my response had nothing to do with with the two people in question, but again as a response to the person who intimated that the minor in the relationship may have been the person in the wrong.
So, USFS should be discouraging illegal or questionable relationships, especially when they are so public and so well-known/flaunted.
If it is a press conference, I imagine it will be about someone joining, someone leaving or both perhaps?![]()
you're really full of it.IMHO, this is not a point of discussion or debate for this thread. If you want to discuss this in general terms, perhaps an appropriate thread topic should be started. Since the person you responded to was not talking in general terms, your response especially in the way it was phrased, made no separate distinction that indicated you were speaking generally. Thank you.
They just keep getting bigger and bigger. They should have just named it Marie Universe. The press conference thing was short and sweet - the recording is here if anyone wants to watch, but the sound isn't great - basically, the Gadbois group is turning itself into an academy, the Ice Academy of Montreal (aka IAM). The idea is to expand operations, offer a comprehensive training environment including things like off-ice and mental coaching, bring in more staff and reach out to offer seminars and courses in other locations. They're staying based at Gadbois for now but may expand to work at other rinks too. Wishing them the greatest of success with it!![]()
