then proceeded to go on about Americans and how the only results that matter to them is gold.

Oh, generally/culturally speaking--at least when it comes to group mentality rather than individual mentality--I think Americans & Russians have this in common;).

Stepanova/Bukin won’t be at the Russian test skates today/tomorrow, since she is still struggling with her back injury :(

You know that feeling you have when you feel like all of your favorite ice dance teams had a really strong season last year & karma is very likely to spite all of them this season just to pay you back for enjoying last season . . .

I was so looking forward to seeing their Justin Timberlake program 😥
Whilst I can appreciate S/K's skating it is S/B that have stolen my heart 🤩😍

Whoops, got confused, good to see the dementia is progressing nicely ha ha

Stepanova has just posted a gorgeous instastory of her baby sister 🤯🥰
Cute.

Are there any videos of the dancers today? I saw three only SInKats, BetSer, TifJon. Surprisingly I really liked BetSer caught the mood the best. SK good composition and great speed as expected. I liked the attack and speed also of TifJon but the music was a distraction in the first part. What are they skating to? Their improvement is visible but the first music choice obscures. Looking forward to seeing the ladies now. How were Morozov and Bagin?

TJ are skating to The Greatest Showman.

Well it will have to wait. Papadakis & Cizeron are unbeatable until atleast 2022. The gap is just too big. They could literally not improve at all and Sinitsina & Katsalapov (currently the better of the 2 excellent Russian teams) could improve by a good margin every one of the remaining 3 years, and they still would not quite catch them, and the likelihoood of P&C not improving is super low.

They have better Russian teams than they had last 2 quads with freaking Bobrova & Soloviev (LOL) as their #1 though so they are the right track to eventually regain their ice dance maybe.
Everyone was right for 8 years!!! Bobrova posture too bad for big success for b/s

My thoughts of S/K RD: Great speed and flow. Nice execution of the elements. Nice lightness.

Wished they used the Gene Kelly version.

Her free leg position is often sloppy and the timing in the quickstep seemed off to me.

But it’s a good program and they look pretty together at this early point.

I like the overall look of the S/K RD, the music edit, the connecting moves. Quick step fits really well with the mood of the music. But would somebody tell K to keep his shoulders down when he twizzles?

Just loved them. Very disappointed with their score though. They deserved to be at the top. As Ted said it was a very different level of performance
They won the FD. But their SD wasn’t as strong and that’s where they lost.

Just one of his knowledge gaps just like that ill-fitting lift at the end. They wouldn't dare use the Gene Kelly version. That would be for the likes of P/C and that really good team that Igor had in 1999. Their names slip me. But it fits them.

I found the cover of 'In the End' that Kazakova / Reviya used quite weird and wish they'd go for the original. The choreography is really intriguing though.

I loved the originality of K and R’s program.
Lots of interesting, dynamic and original choreography.

They definitely need more speed, attack , confidence, polish and finesse. But to be expected from a junior team.

Like the music choice a lot, but I don’t think they related to the tone of it nearly enough or to each other.
So because of that I wasn’t blown away by it.

Having said that, it’s very refreshing to see a team so original and I look forward to what they can do.

Kazakova & Reviya were due for an original piece of music after R&J and Carmina Burana. I am glad their team selected one. They lost because they had a Basic on their second pattern and a bunch of level 2s on the footwork sequences. (Same problems they had last season). Had exactly the same issues at the JGPF last year.

This was an important result.

So we have a win for Nguyen & Kolesnik, Shanaeva & Naryzhyy, & Khudaberdieva & Filatov. We have Ushakova & Nekrasov yet to skate. If they make it back, that's probably 4 JGPF spots. Two up for grabs?

I'm looking at the entry lists & Russia has shifted teams since I last checked. Khudaberdieva & Filatov have been assigned to Poland instead of Russia. (Nguyen & Kolesnik and Demougeot & Le Mercier are there). Davis & Smolkin are assigned to Russia with Shanaeva & Narizhnyy.

Kazakova & Reviya are signed up to compete against Ushakova & Nekrazov in Croatia. If Ushakova & Nekrasov show, K&R will probably be 2nd. So their most likely task is to outscore Davis & Smolkin and--to be on the safe side--Demougeot & Le Mercier, though Nguyen & Kolesnik and Khudaberdieva & Filatov could take D&LM out of the picture via placements. Kazakova & Reviya have over 5 points on Davis & Smolkin. I would expect the scores in Russia to be high;), but 5 points is a lot in dance and K&R will have the last say in that battle.

I think France moves Demougeot & Le Mercier to Italy? Scores at the end are usually pretty high also. D&LM--who skated at home to start off--have 0.84 on Davis & Smolkin before D&S go skate at home in Russia.
