Please don't be because as the queen of typo who has to edit her posts twenty times and still make some mistakes I gave up being shy long ago. Many here are not native speakers anyway so post long and often ( and be sorry later when people misunderstand you :D)

As I am an English as a 2nd language teacher by profession, if you are worried that your English doesn't make sense, send me a PM and I will correct it, but please don't bombard me, only send the bare minimum or you risk not being answered!

So I've been thinking about next year's Broadway theme RD and I need Chock/Bates to portray Mimi & Roger in 'Rent.' :40beers:

Rent is my favorite musical and it was on TV last Sunday night. I watched it with a discerning eye to figure out if someone could use the music next year for an RD. :COP:

I know most of the music would be hard to skate to but I think it's doable if they went with the Mimi/Roger songs.

And Chock/Bates would be perfect for it. :encore::cheer2:

Anyone from Gadbois who is reading this thread, you all need to get on this pronto. :rollin:

Please and Thank you.:glamor:

PS. If a team actually does skate to Rent, I will UBER them for life. :respec:

I wonder what teams are going to do for next years RD. In no way could I imagine teams like P/C doing some sort of happy broadway musical but then again they always manage to prove me wrong.

I am dreading this RD but sometimes it can be good to go into these things with low expectations and end up being pleasantly surprised. I hope to see some out of the box choices, given all the commentary here on S/B's "tango" maybe they are my best hope for something more... off Broadway. :) Can't they do operettas too or am I misremembering?

The worst thing for sure is that my daughter is studying English at university..
How embarrassing for her with such a mother:D

I'd like them to pick a French musical like Les Demoiselles de Rochefort especially as an hommage to Michel Legrand who just passed away. There is this great opening with jazzy music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hvjhyL04c4

There are all kinds of musicals, happy and otherwise. :) I was at a local production of The Fantasticks the other night, and I was thinking that a lot of the music in there would be nice for skating. There's a lovely wistful quality to it.

Has anyone started a thread with musical suggestions for next year? We ought to get on that in case any ice dancers drop by looking for ideas. :D

This exactly how I felt about HipHop 2 years ago. And I LOVED almost all of them!

Yes, VIETgrl started one in the Trash Can last spring following the announcement. I bumped it up for anyone who does want to add to it now that we've seen all the programs out there this season. I'm very much looking forward to the Broadway RDs. We need some fun!

I'm always shy to write here because my English isn't so good. :shuffle:
Don't be !! We don't pass an exam here and even people whose native language is English make mistakes. If we aren't sure of what you mean (and until now I don't think it ever happened), we will simply ask ;) Don't feel bad or shy, a good half of this board is made of non native speakers and said board has over 26.000 members !! Go ahead, don't hold back, we're always happy to discuss tons of different subjects !

OK, so I'm mostly caught up in this thread now (I didn't exactly find the spot where I left off but I found part of the Europeans RD discussion so pretty close).

A couple thoughts I need to comment on:

Stepanova & Bukin finally got a level 4 footwork sequence! (This is the first one I remember them earning).
And Guignard & Fabbri got 2:eek:. (Also the first ones I remember them earning).
And Kaliszek & Spodyriev got 1. (Definitely the first I've seen them earn).

OK, the panel may have gone a little crazy here, but you know I've been waiting to see if S&B could score a level four step for a couple seasons now so forgive me if I'm happy anyway:).

Hawayek/Baker seem to have made a massive technical step up from the grand prix circuit where they were getting base levels and level 1s for the pattern. They got a level 4 and level 3 here.

Um hm:rolleyes:. I will apologize for my skepticism if they get anywhere close at 4CCs or Worlds. Same with Lajoie & Lagha's level 4 step sequence if they get one at Junior Worlds.

A few updates from the Kiss & Cry:

-Nazarova & Nikitin are signed up for the Open Ice Mall Cup in Israel. (Fingers crossed that they are there).
-Konkina & Drozd are signed up to debut at the same competition.
-Loboda & Shibnev are signed up to compete at the Egna Dance Trophy in Italy.

I wish they had 2 spots!
At this point I think the race for that all-important tenth spot is down to three teams. Two of them are Fear/Gibson and Hurtado/Khaliavin, the former having finished about two points ahead of the latter at Europeans, and they've clearly got momentum this season, given how they've rocketed up the standings in half a year.

The third is Fournier Beaudry and Sorensen, who we haven't seen compete internationally yet this year. Anybody's guess what the judges do with them. They were floating just outside the top ten in their last few seasons for Denmark.

Tough all around ... I enjoy all of these teams!

I think you may be discounting Kaliszek/Spodyriev here. I'm not sure their scores from Euros will hold up, but they're definitely in the mix. They currently have a higher SB than Hawayek/Baker.

The way I see it, there is a clear top 8 teams (P/C, H/D, S/K, W/P, S/B, G/P, G/F, C/B) that are well ahead in scores (well, C/B don't have a SB score yet). Then there's H/B, K/S, F/G, H/K and FB/S for the last 2 spots.

That's a whole lot of teams for just two spots ! I'm betting on Fear/Gibson, they did great at Europeans and their programs are a hit with everyone, including the judges. The last spot, I'm hoping for Fournier-Beaudry/Sorensen even though they were always hoovering just at the door of the top ten, they are rolling for Canada now, plus they have stepped it up and their programs are really good.
The first 8 are a mystery in terms of who is gonna end up at what spot. Quite exciting, anything is possible tbh as Euros demonstrated. One misstep from some teams and boom... They are literally all hoovering around the same scores with C/B being a bit of a ? internationally but they certainly look good, I'd say better than ever.

Can anyone point me to an English-language broadcast of the Europeans FD? I've seen the separate dances on a variety of YT vids, but I'd really like to see the whole competition with English commentary.
