Official retirement announcements by figure skaters in 2025-2026

Dupayage/Nabais are retiring. :wuzrobbed

I understand that the French dance field is getting more and more crowded, but I'll really miss them. I loved their unique look and style.

I will miss them! They were unique and I so enjoyed them.

I’d bet the French Fed, knowing that FB/C are probably France’s only hope for an individual medal in home Olys skating, are pushing them to come back whether they want to or not.
Isn't this more a self-fulfilling prophecy than anything else? Lopareva and Brissaud could have had a good chance at a podium finish at the next Olys. But when you push everyone back then they don't.

Dupayage and Nabais are not at all a casualty of FB/C. France was already making it clear they were dumping them in favor of other teams (sometimes with much lesser skating skill, at that) long before the comeback happened.
True, they were ranked behind Lagouge/Caffa several times and it wasn't deserved. But I remember talking with them not long before we heard about FB/C partnership and they had plans until 2030. Last season Marie was no longer herself on the ice, the sparkle was gone. On top of being dumped by French judges (Demougeot/Le Mercier were dumped too at the time) I'm pretty certain that FB/C's return was the coup de grâce.

This isn't an official announcement, but... This is interesting. Patinage QC has published their Excellence, A, Next Gen & B skaters/teams on their IG today.

Obviously, Laurin/Ethier are not listed but neither are Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps, which seems to be tacit confirmation they are done.

Julia Quattrochi/Etienne Lacasse (CAN) have ended their partnership. Both are seeking new partners.

Julia and Etienne is on that list.. which means you can trust the list either 😭

I was pleasantly surprised by how well they did at Worlds. They still should have finished a couple of places higher but it could have been much worse.
A couple places higher than 5th? Meaning on the podium? Alrighty then.

Japan, Ice Dance

Sumire Yoshida and Ibuki Ogahara have ended their 10-year partnership.

Rebecca Ghilardi has confirmed her retirement to the Bergamo News. Nothing is mentioned about Filippo Ambrosini's plans, so it's possible he could pop up with a new partner in the future.

He wants to continue

Is he capable of more than a sbs 2A? Wasn't Becarri the partner who was always injured when she skated with Guarise? They'd be a strikingly beautiful couple though.

His 2As weren't the problem, nor were his 3Ss, usually, IIRC. Ghilardi was the one with the horrid leg wrap on the 2A and the perennially UR 3S.

Rebecca Ghilardi's side-by-side jumps always looked like kamikaze missions. I'm amazed she was able to do the jumps as well as she did. She and Ambrosini should be very proud of what they've achieved together. With two European medals, several GP medals, and an Italian title, they've punched above their weight.

Ambrosini's wikipedia page says he's retired? Maybe an error or a trigger-happy fan. He is 33, so not sure he realistically has another Olympics in him.

Well, he’s younger than Guarise was when he and Beccari teamed up.

Has Beccari said that she’s looking for a new partner? I hope she’s able to continue but aware she’s had a tough time with injury the last couple of seasons.

Makes me ill...I liked them so much. We should have a portal like college basketball. I don't know how we'd do it but I want them to stay...somewhere.
