I thought VM announced their return to competition during 2016 4CCs?
You´re right. I mixed up the two events and it was at 4CC that people were trying to explain their poor FD result to V/M announcement.

I too enjoy Madison toning down her expressions in this dance. The music is well put together (even if it does feel a little Shib-like in parts) and will be a crowd pleaser. It is uncharacteristic of them not to be at higher tech levels at this point in the season. With more mileage it will be a good program. Someone up thread or in another thread suggested they change the ending to reach out to the audience instead on going all "lovey" with each other. That change alone would help the concept the dance.I don't particularly enjoy Chock/Bates usually but I like their FD this year, instead of Evan Bates presents Madison Chock they actually look like a partnership, I think it's quite nice. If it is true that they were injured then that probably pushes back their progress for the season, making the GPF should give them a confidence boost. Under Pressure it seemed like their were forcing some of their elements to fit the music (eg the twizzles) to avoid cutting it. I thought it was a breath of fresh air amongst the lyrical FDs last season but I found myself enjoying it less and less as the season went on. Madison made too many faces for me.
I wonder if H&D could do a bit of choreography on the side for younger skaters in Montreal. Cash payment type of thing.
Visa rules are usually quite strict. If they work without a permit and someone reports that, they could lose their visas.
That's a bit of revisionist history because V/M announced AFTER the results of the ice dance competition at 2016 Worlds they were returning
IIRC, there was an announcement that VM would make an announcement right before 4CC the official announcement was after. From what I remember, it was announced right after the FD at 4CC, but many suspected some people in skating already knew about it before the official announcement, including Weaver/Poje. It was a pretty orchestrated announcement. It was just unfortunate timing that it came out after WeaPo underperformed at 4CC.
I'm sure G/P will stick around. They've said nothing about retiring. V/M have made it pretty clear this will be their last season. I assumed W/P would retire, but I suppose it's possible they stick around for Worlds in Montreal. They said something about Spartacus coming back at some point, probably they meant as an ex.After olympics has V/M hinted that they are staying around?
I am assuming this WeaPo last season. I have not heard if Gilles/Poirer are sticking around. If all three teams retire, Skate Canada will not any elite teams skating.
If Gilles/Poirer stick around- they'll have fierce competition to be podium contenders.
As. Or a loss of confidence because it has to affect your confidence to be so unsure of your FD in a season like this. Honestly they should have just gone back to American in Paris/QUOTE]
Please no.I just don't want this to be come a thing to catch on where dancers revert back to old FDs![]()
It was announced right before 4CCs.
Yes, it's called the Officials Assessment Commission (OAC) - here's the link to the latest ISU Communication: http://www.isu.org/communications/593-isu-communication-2098/fileSorry to change the subject, but I have a question : during the commentary of the FD on France 3 (French national channel), Annick Dumont (Gailhaguet) said that judging was very regulated, that now there even is a "judge for the judges". Is there really such a thing? A judge whose job is to examine what the judges do??

Some very interesting dance head-to-heads with athletes from the same country on the entry list for Golden Spin:
Two of the young U.S. dance teams (they meet at Skate America first):
Hawayek & Baker
Parsons & Parsons (this also gives us a rematch of last season's gold & silver medalists from Junior Worlds, Parsons vs. Loboda & Drozd).
And the lot of these teams will have to deal with . . .
Guignard & Fabbri
Well, Tobias/Tkachenko aren't on the Skate America Entries list anymore. He didn't get Israeli citizenship.

There is no replacement for now.
I have no idea, but it's probably because of the citizenship since they kept WD last minute. The goal was Olympic, maybe they don't want to keep skating anymore. So did they withdraw because of that alone or is there an injury involved? Seems a bit defeatist to withdraw if only for citizenship issues.
Can't they give the spot to Coomes/Buckland, Smart/Diaz or Fournier-Beaudry/Sorensen? They all live in the "area" with no time difference.
The article I read that said T/T won't be able to go said that the junior Israeli time will.Very strange. Why wait until the last minute again? There are six North American dance teams on the list who could use the spot. It would be better for it to go to anyone than not be filled. Fournier-Beaudry & Sorenson have the highest ranking at the moment if you look at the teams head-to-head. (They defeated C&B at NHK). Coomes & Buckland have the highest current season's best score. Min & Gamelin are the highest team on the replacement list that has not received any invitation. Lorenz & Polizoakis train at Marina's rink & their coach is already attending if it's a matter of convenience. Nazarova & Nikitin and Mansour & Ceska train in Detroit also.
I'm sorry to hear about Tkachenko's citizenship issue. Like the Danes, Tobias & Tkachenko are clearly a team that has earned their place among the top dance teams qualifying for the Olympics. They had a very successful season last year, and could easily qualify for the free dance. Plus, it looks like Israel will qualify as a team for the Olympic games, and T&T were a big part of making that happen.
Also, I am again bummed on the part of Torn & Partanen from Finland. If Israel cannot take their Olympic dance spot, then it goes to Lithuania. It sounds very unlikely that Reed & Ambrulevicius can meet the citizenship requirements for their country, which means the young team would probably go. And Torn & Partanen are more competitive than either they or the second senior Israeli team are, should the second Israeli team have citizenship.
