So, coming up is German nationals, and then the week after, Russian nationals and Japanese nationals. How will I live it through? No rest for the wicked:p

And regarding Sotskova, I've been her fan since that interview during summer. And I've always loved her technique, it's so pure and clean. And I liked her SP last year, interesting music. BUT....she haven't won me completely over yet. She looks stunning. I like her new FS dress a lot. I like her hair in a bun and even more in a ponytail. Will it be enough? If she had more kick-ass programs, she could have been a real contender already this year. #russiaforkorea

And random stuff...my coach is teaching me to jump the loop the way Rukavitsin just thought her and the Norwegian national team coaches at a workshop. Is that good or bad? Should I feel all trainwrecky? :D

(btw @Ka3sha how would you transcribe Rukavitsin's name into English? I see different versions.... The ц transcribes ts according to Norwegian rules, so I'm sticking to that, but I see some writing it only with a c....)

Also Spanish Nationals this week and a battle in dance for that spot :kickass:

Speaking of Russian Nationals, official entries should be published this Wednesday. It’s just 10 days away and I’m super excited as you may guess :D
I’ll post a link to my Instagram account later here (not sure if I want to do in the K&C or other sections) just in case I’ll spot Kitty and Aliev together somewhere :p

I usually transcribe it as ‘ts’ (same with Katsalapov, for example) but I think ‘c’ is also right.
Generally speaking, usually there are lots of problems with transcription. For example, my patronymic is ‘Андреевна’ and in my international passport it’s transcribed as ‘Andreyevna’ while in my driving license it’s ‘Andreevna’

This Silver GPF result of Sotskova (good for her) kinda takes away this glimmer of hope for Rapunzel in Pyeong Chang.

As for Masha ... SP is good, but LP is zzzzz.

Sadly, I think that's true. Rapunzel will have to have the skate of her life to get on the team. It will be interesting to see who the Worlds alternates are because if the results at the Olympics are good, or really good, there may be open Worlds spots. It's difficult for O medalists to regroup in a month. Which would kind of be OK with me.

I appreciate Sotskova and find her to be quite regal on the ice. I like that she is consistent and jumps so well even though she’s very tall and has a woman’s body. I just think she lacks the drama and performance quality of a Radionova or Pogo, plus she seems like a nice girl which in a sport like this isn’t particularly exciting.

That being said, I think she’ll make the Olympic team. Radionova and Tsurskaya have a shot still, but after seeing how Nationals was scored last year, I fear Rose skating clean won’t be enough unless Maria has mistakes, and even then it would probably be a conversation. Maria wasn’t so great at Euros and Worlds last season, but Rad wasn’t even there and Maria has been more consistent and solid this fall, and is scoring higher at this point.

Tsurskaya is the definite spoiler here. If all three skate clean, it will be an interesting test of coaching team vs coaching team. :watch:

Which is why RuNats is going to be intense.

I'm brushing up on my Russian using the Babbel program, and their transliteration has me writing "c" on my keyboard to make "ц". I mess up words all the time, because it just doesn't seem normal to me, I've always written it as "ts."

Anyway, I'm mostly here to say that I'm super excited about the Spanish and German dance spots and that they are still close going into Nationals. :watch:

Let's not forget #tt intruder #BabyRizzo who is competing for the Oly spot at Italian nationals. :cheer2:
Race with Ivan the great is unexpectedly close, but given Righini and Bychenko latest instagram adventures of night clubs and beer chugging, the hangover effect may help BabyRizzo :p
If Cristini gets the ladies spot we'll have #teamlovebirds2

Thanks! So I'll keep writing it with ts, the Norwegian way, and don't feel bad about it;) I'm not so good with the spelling of foreign names, I have to look up Osmond's first name every time etc.:p

Go Rizzo!! I couldn't believe I got Righini all over the place thanks to Bychenko. Hope your theory holds!

I hate that Rizzo and Righini are so close. I'm going to feel sorry for whoever is left off and I don't want to feel sorry for Righini. And, I really don't want to feel sorry for Rizzo. Why couldn't he be 40 points ahead? :drama:

Very very late GPF thoughts:

Pairs
S&M = Wow, this got exciting. Aliona is probably my all time fave in all my skating fandom so nothing will make me happier than her finally getting the gold. I still miss the initial ending pose though.
S&H = They are young, they can wait until Home olympics to have their moment while the empress gets her due.
S&K = For someone who has such a confidente femme fatale look on the ice she surely is a insecure headcase inside.
T&M = Im not a skating music snob so I dont hate their long as much as everyone seems to do. but man do they lack charisma.

Men:
Chen = Again boy, why soo greedy? The late 2ndt attempt at a quad was so unnecesary and made the perfomance felt much disjointed than usual. The SP still rocks.
Uno = He's the ultimate uke on ice.
Kolyada = Don't get what the big buzz about the haircut. It looks almost the same. And no he does not belong on TT. He's been medalling at every comp latelty and is solid Russia's (OAR) #1
Voronov = I have said Im on his team for the olys but Im not sure I want casual fans been exposed to that monstruosity of SP costume.
US filler boys = Do not care.

Dance:
V&M and P&C = Im still very dissapointed on both teams short dances and the FD are a bit underwhelming also. The french are rehashing it for the upmpteenth time and the canadians are doing a greatest hits of been there done that tricks. I'll be fine with whatever outcome but I dont think P&C should be so clearly ahead at this point. It seems like judges have already made up their mind and it sucks.
US hunger dance games= Donohue for the bronze upset!! and yes he's hot, sure in a vanilla softcore kind of way but he gets the job done. Im not ashamed to say I voted for him on the PSOTY thread and he gets my do-hard award this time.
C&L = Im afraid they have outstayed their welcome. Big faves but peaked long ago. At least they have that one fluke world title to cherish forever.

Ladies:
Zagitova = She kills it, she's talented. Not there yet artistically but haters talk as if she's Bonaly for chris't sake. deserving winner .
Sotskova = yeah guys you are all very shallow :p and too influenced by the make over. The skating is till zzzz but since she now looks awesome in that dress you go all ga ga for her again despite the programs and PCS still being comma inducing. That said, this was the nail on the coffin for all the other russians except maybe Tsurskaya. Anyone who still believes Radio, Tuk, Pogo, etc still have any chance is a fool in my book.
Osmond = She's an eagle, a firebird, a phoenix but a swan she's definetly not. Terrible choice for her.
JPN heartbreak girls = Miyahara is not my fave but I guess she deserves the spot based on body of work. Now im gonna be miserable on christmas trying to chose between Higuchi-Mihara-Honda-Sakomoto.
Kostner = My sister commented "That italian girl is till skating , she's too old" then I told her Caro's actually younger than her :biggrinbo

'bout time!
I still miss the initial ending pose though.
This!
4 outings, 4 different poses.
1) Nebelhorn
2) Skate Canada
3) Skate America
4) GPF
I have a feeling she heard of MEEPOTS and wants to get 5 entries alone :D Personally I prefer #2 the most, #4 as a repeat of least season will for sure not join the MEEPOTS race. I expect no changes for nationals, but I await variations for euros and olympics :p

He lacks hot ass!

The biggest boom in the milan-farewell show is still to come! Watch it!

Why do I have the feeling vice would admire here more, if she'd be Bonaly :p

You watching figure skating in the living room, with your sister walking in commenting, ruined every picture I had in my mind :p

If anyone can sweep a year-end award that's Aliona.

I don't think even home soil will help them much. There will be the 2 US teams that don't get Bronze at Korea + BobSol + WP as canadian #1 once again. It's gonna be a sad farewell im afraid.

LOL, it was a comment by whatssap. I shared her sometimes some skating news. she's a casual fan and thinks Plushy and Navka are the best skaters of all times. :D

I guess I am back from my hiatus from gatekeeping. :shuffle:

Torgashev has skated in at least three (Tallinn Trophy 2016, Philadelphia Summer International 2017, and Warsaw Cup 2017), but da bossman nixed him not so long ago:

Which reminds me, there was no loophole. Cleo was testing us.

Criteria:
1) Skater needs a complete package to potentially be a top skater at Euros/4CC's/Worlds/Olympic level
2) Skater needs to have the ability to absolutely rock one day and splat the day after. Even better: rock and splat during one program
3) Skater is not afraid of breaking one's heart over and over again
4) Skater needs more splat/messy performances than great ones

Rules:
1) Worlds/Olympic medalists and Euro/4CC's champions are not eligible
2) Multiple Euros/4CC's medal winners are not eligible
3) Membership and changes to the Rules and Qualities shall be decided by consensus among longstanding posters in the #TeamTrainwreck Threads, subject to points 1) and 2)
4) The pinky166 is not allowed to make more than one proposal a day
5) Proposals can be submitted in the #teamtrainwreck thread
6) New membership is granted only to current skaters
7) New membership is only granted to senior skaters (at least one international senior competition)
8) Membership can be cancelled due to points 1) and 2), numerous decent skates in a row or not being competitive on elite level anymore.

Qualities:
1) Being a student of Volchkova/Rukavicin
2) Big boobs/nice ass
3) Boobs/belly/nipples showing
4) Mule kick
5) Being Uzbek/Russian
6) last name called Schott
7) Bizarre off ice incidents
8) Coach
9) Costume (-Malfunction)
10) Splats
11) Bizarre Choreo
12) Hair

:gallopin1

I would never test such distinct rules! I just was pointing out US nationals is a little more competitive than 2017 Philadelphia Summer Comp. Torgashev was halfway decent at Nationals which is more than I can say about most of his performances the last two years. I would agree with the denial. He had potential, but he hasn't showed us an elite skate in some time. Any thoughts on Alex Johnson who was a complete disaster in the long in Zagreb?

And Worlds is (usually) a little more competitive than Nebelhorn. And yet we know which is the more important event. :gallopin1
