Doesn't the winner automatically go, then they default to the GPF and so on? So, if either Higuchi or Miyahara win, they're in. Since the other will be the only GPF entry (I agree that Med might WD if her foot is still in a cast) then the other of the two goes. Or am I totally wrong on the Japanese rules? Which is extremely possible.
Japanese thread says that:
The only one guaranteed a spot is the winner of Nationals. The 2nd spot will be dependent on
(1) which of the silver and bronze national medalist placed higher in the GPF
(2) World standing / seasons best.
etc.
The only chance Honda has to make the Olympic team is if she wins Nationals. Wakaba looks to be a 75% lock for a spot as long as she doesn't implode during nationals, but it'll really depend on Miyahara's condition.

But we knew they had heartbreaking decisions before: Takahashi/Kozuka, Miki (she ****ing deserved that spot back then!!!)/Nakano, so the suspense might still be there. Rules or no rules!

Exactly. I can see the arguments for both sides about how some skaters never get to go to Worlds or the Olympics because there are more quality skaters than the maximum allowed per country and that entry should be based on results. OTOH, small federations may as well just give up. Consider how many #TTW members we'd never see at Europeans, Worlds or the Olympics if that were the case! Pretty much most of them or they wouldn't be on the team in the first place.

.... but they weren't, and they don't. :violin:

Or were they lowballed level hard to make matters worse also like Higuchi in SP? What about that? They were doomed by Satoko's sad injury though from the get go.

Let me remind you that Wakaba received in this segment in Helsinki virtually the same PCS (29.xx) as Bradie Tennell in Skate America to illustrate the absurd. Sure one should not compare & draw conclusions too freewheelingly from two different events but just for the sake of providing an example I give you that. Higuchi skated in one of the earlier flights and we know how it unfortunately works against you too. And if you want to compare it with her actual competitor there ... well our two-time World Champion received 9+ across the board for every category in her program with hop-scotching, jumping invisible rope & rather cringey pantomime to wait & eat time before her bonus half comes in.

Don‘t you dare! :angryfire

Last I heard her back stress fracture isn’t healed and she’s not training on the ice right now? Nationals is only 4 weeks away so I reckon WD is a possibility (though she MUST come back and slay next season :drama:).

Also some Instagram user made a post saying that Kitty was going to Nationals. So maybe she just got invited or something?

His first vlog is totally WTF hilarious :rollin:

Pinky, once more thanks!
I liked the his IG clip more, as it was short and hilarious, the vlog was going on a bit too long imho. But I had to smile quite often: his name at the door, 'the guy is compensating',....

That in addition that I really like his skating, I will keep a close look at him. Congrats @pinky166 , I think you have never been that close! :respec:
