I assume we'll know for absolutely certain at Nebelhorn.
Well, I don't get my hopes up.
But If her name appears somewhere, oh boy, I'll bring my IrinaLux wardrobe to cheer all the way down to Beijing!

At least this time I'll be able to watch the free skate in real time. Last time, I just couldn't. I wanted it so badly for her and was too afraid to watch. I'd kind of hope for silver to give her the full hat trick of medals. Then Tar/Mor can win gold. But can you imagine 4 medals at 4 different Olympics? Has any other figure skater done this, excluding team medals? Virtue/Moir have 3/3 and Plushenko has 3/3 (I'm not counting his team because she doesn't have that opportunity).

She shared my story saying she's going for 2022, so I'd say that is their plan ;)
Oh well, that is putting me in some wardrobe dilemma :D

Btw. I like Samoilov made it into your story too. Seems like my campaigning finally pays off ;)

Our boys :swoon:

It's very frustrating; my favorite part of discovering new skaters is finding out their hobbies and where they were born (hopefully somewhere other than Moscow/St. Petersburg so I can be exposed to an exciting new region of Russia). Get on it ISU!

Unknown kid still doesn't have an ISU biography!

Without ever having competed in a senior-level international event, he has managed to steamroll his way past virtually every other Russian Men's skater.

SP :fan:
FS :fan: "A star is born!"
Meaning Russia has to get him somewhere to get worlds minimums like yesterday

Tallinn Hotels Cup isn't too far... :) (I'm sure they'll use video too)
My first thought was the video option. Tallink Hotels Cup is the week before the RC Finals so I would think that would be a lesser option since he could submit videos this week and get the TES minimum issue resolved without adding another competition instead of training to peak at the RC Final.

Update: unknown kid does have an ISU biography, but it isn't indexed on www.isuresults.com or easily findable by a using conventional search engines. He was born in Podolsk and even has a Wikipedia page. t He has skated internationally on the senior level and won the Men's event at the Bosphorus Cup in 2019. His hobbies are "arts" and "being with friends," and on his Instagram account he calls himself a "contemporary artist."

But who is he really?

Interesting quotes from Aliev in an interview with Tatjana Flade:
For the free program, you first chose the song “S.O.S. d’un terrien en détresse “, then you changed it to” L’Immensita “. When I heard about the first version of the music, I thought that it might be hard for you to skate to this kind of music, because you skate emotionally, and this music is also very emotional, kind of fatal. The deceased Denis Ten performed his last program to it.

Dmitri Aliev:
Yes, that is what happened. We started to do the program, and the music began to take over, but at the same time there was some kind of stupor. Some people can skate like that. But when I skate with a heart on a sleeve, then I have zero control. I need to jump, I need to be focused, but I understand that this is the same story as in the 2017-2018 season, when I had a short program, to the music which Denis Ten also skated. That was also such a strong music, lyrical, sad. And for some reason these programs do not work for me. They are really heavy for your souls. We realized that we urgently needed to do something. Look for something new in this program, try to change steps, etc., although everything was beautifully choreographed. For me it was a pleasure to skate it, but there was some kind of stupor and that’s it. And we came to the decision that we will change the program. Sometimes when this music is played on ice, Olga Germanovna’s eyes fill with tears. The music is strong, and you try to lose yourself in it. I am also a sensitive person, I skate and I get goosebumps, but you don’t need it in skating.

If I get a male German Shepherd puppy, I swear I'm going to name him Makar just so I can yell Makar when I call him in. Unless I decide on a female and I may still name it Makar.

ETA: definitely getting a GSD pup next year when I move. Tree service is out in the back yard taking down a tree (long sad story). I came home to let the dogs out. Went out and told the guys, they stopped working for a bit. My female Standard Poodle came out, peed and immediately went to the back door because they always get a treat when I get home. Totally ignored two people and a chainsaw. The male did his business, noted the two men, ran up, freaked out and raced past me and back to the door. One couldn't be bothered and the other wasn't about to get close to that big pile of limbs.

Have to say that I am enjoying Russian men way more than ladies this season. Maybe they are not always clean and flawless, but at least there is an intrigue, diversity, judging seems more or less accurate (won’t say a word about Samarin’s PCS ?), different programs, styles, choreography, difficulty. And it’s nice not to know in advance who will win, who will get an edge call and who won’t and etc.
Next year should be very interesting in terms of qualification to the Olympics, just hopefully whoever get to go to Worlds this year, will be able to get 3 spots back.

Btw, when Unknown Kid was asked if he had already seen women crying over him (Med and Skoptsova had tears after his LP), he said ‘Yes, but not that successful women’

I really enjoyed Mark at the team event, perhaps I need to give the Russian guys another chance. I have to agree with regards to the ladies, while I appreciate the talent and tech, I can't really get into much this semi-season (aside from our resident speed queen empress, of course!).
