I just could not deal with Tey's detective's insistence that "No man with a face like that could have committed murder!" There's this weird vein of lookism that runs through her books that I find very off-putting.

Yeah- that bothered me on re-reading. I noticed it less as a teen.

One of my favorite things about Camilla is that ever since she became queen consort she sort of has a "idgaf" wardrobe of tent velour dresses and clompy shoes.

Cute, but those flat espadrilles are definitely not something QueenE would have approved of. She reportedly was scandalized over Kate's wedges.

I am all for comfy shoes...but the Duchess of E's are fugly with that dress. The court shoes Camilla is wearing also seem like they would be best with a different outfit.

Points to Camilla for not hauling around a stupid handbag like Elizabeth did, and to Sophie for using a shoulder bag.

She might not have been literally calling the ladies up to tell them they had this or that, but she set by example. She was always immaculately dressed in bright colors throughout her reign. Not a surprise that when she was queen, the other royal ladies favored brightly colored coat dresses and heels and always had a clutch or handbag.

Now the most senior royal woman prefers chunky block low heels, comfortable tent velour dresses and wrap shirt dresses, and no handbag. The other royal ladies are more casual too.

She wore bright colors because in her words it made her easier to be seen in a crowd. I don't remember ppl copying her look which imo was kind of frumpy because her fashion didn't change for decades.

I am not ashamed to say that I had tears in my eyes when I first watched this beautiful video. Brava to Catherine, to William and their whole family. What they've been through, what they continue to go through, is sadly what way too many others go through with serious illness. It's good to hear that things are on the mend for her. It will be very interested to see how she will be able to use her experiences to reach out to others going through the same ordeal.

It's not sepia-toned. It's a warm, golden filter - probably meant to invoke summer. I liked it for this video.

From all accounts Diana relied on Will to divulge all her most personal problems, including her various affairs with people. He also saw a lot of Diana's self-harming. So maybe it was DIFFERENT child-rearing than Harry's upbringing, but it wasn't necessarily better.

One thing that W&K are doing way differently is they so far are not sending George and Charlotte to boarding school at the age of 8, which is the traditional age for royal kids to be boarded. By age 8, both Will and Harry were sent away permanently to boarding school.

Of course you're right, we can't completely know, but the vibe is definitely different from being parented by a fractured pair of parents with wildly different styles and needs.

IMO, surviving 9 months of chemo entitles you to a few minutes of schmaltz. I definitely don't think she deserves to be mocked.

Well, she's had that reputation for a good 5 years now. She must have really burned a lot of people and pissed someone pretty powerful in Hollywood off though, if it's being reported in THR.
