The trailer is fine. I never understand why the show gets so much hate. And I don't even like cats.

They probably exist. A lot of animators and voiceover actors who play female animal human-like characters in cartoons will tell you furries have existed for a long time even predating the Internet age.

I think it's the people who like cats/are familiar with them who don't like it. There's something just slightly off about the movements IMO.

I don't know anything about the story and have never seen the musical so I can't comment on that part.

I started following him after I watched Kim's Convenience the first time, and then I started seeing him everywhere like in Wong Fu production videos and being friends with the Shibs.

I sort of feel bad for another Shibs' friend, Lewis Tan. He's most notable for his role on Into the Badlands and he's on an upcoming Netflix martial arts show, Wu Assassins, and he was also in the running for it. He posted a gracious message but I know he was working hard to get this role as well.

I'm not the biggest MCU fan, but I'm actually seriously looking forward to The Eternals just because of director Chloe Zhao. Her film The Rider was one of the best films of last year. I'm really curious to see how she will take her seriously introspective, lyrical style of dealing with internal turmoil and interpersonal conflict and adapt it to a big blockbuster superhero movie.

Another old TV-movie to recommend, Joshua's Heart, a 1990 tearjerker drama starring Melissa Gilbert. She begins dating a man (Tim Matheson) in this movie and grows equally attached to the man's son (Matthew Lawrence). When the relationships fails, all three (as well as the boys mother, who has come back into his life) try to figure out how to adapt to the situation when Gilbert's and Lawrence's characters still care about one another. The movie fits in well with the work Gilbert did on Little House on the Prairie in that it is very heartfelt and makes one grab for a hanky on more than one occasion. Glad to have seen this one.

I saw The Farewell and I LOVED it. If it's a story you're curious about, I would encourage a theatre view. I saw it in a packed house theatre and the audience was one of the most responsive, generous and enthusiastic crowds I've been a part of. The story is written, directed, made by and for such an under represented audience so perhaps there is a real hunger from folks interested in stories about Chinese North Americans. I really hope it makes 'enough' money, to pave an even bigger way for more diverse storytelling. I'm so surprised by how much my heart pounds when I see a story that is specific in ways that I've actually lived through, as a Chinese born Canadian woman. It's as though I'm unaware of the hole created by the absence of these stories, until a movie like this comes around.

I had a free pass to see an advance screening Blinded by the Light. On one one hand it's somewhat of a predictable coming of age comedy/drama, but on the other hand, they do that template really well, it was thoroughly enjoyable (especially if you like the 80s and Bruce Springsteen).

Along those lines (1980s set coming of age movies) the movie Sing Street from a couple years ago, is probably objectively a better movie (I've put it on my comfort shelf of movies to watch on a Friday night when I've had a bad week... Blinded by the Light is probably also going on that shelf).

I saw 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'. It is 2 hr and 41 min long.
It did feel long not sure where it was going,
but then the final act - pure Taratino and the setup/length and buildup makes sense and a great payoff.
Can't say any more - one has to see the movie to see the end.

I am a fan of Tarantino's films and know many are not.
The movie was quite stylish at times and felt in that time.
DiCaprio and Pitt are great - Robbie was good - but not given that much to do - she looks fab.
I think I want to see again - so I can see/enjoy more of it as there is a lot there.
Not everyones cup of tea - but I enjoyed it.


I saw Rocketman for the 3rd time. I am a big fan of Elton - and really love the movie - I tear up every time.

8) Loki, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Hawkeye will all get their own TV series.

The Scarlet Witch one is called "WandaVision" and will presumably focus on Vision as well. Falcon's is actually "The Falcon and The Winter Solider" and could be an absolute riot given its primary focus is Sam and Bucky - but Daniel Bruhl is also reprising his role as Zemo, which could be even more interesting!

I went and saw Yesterday today with my mum. What a lovely movie! Reasonably lighthearted (with some sadder/quieter moments) on a funny concept. Quite funny in places. I absolutely loved Himesh Patel and couldn't believe I haven't seen him in more stuff!

I particularly loved the ending. My main fear going into this movie was that they were going to fall into the temptation to use the "it was all just a dream" trope and have him waking up in hospital or something. But no, they gave us a beautiful ending, with the conversation with John Lennon (who of course lives to 78 at least in this alternate reality), the big reveal, the love confession (of course).

I also enjoyed that the Beatles weren't the only things to disappear - no Coca-Cola, no Wonderwall, no Harry Potter, no cigarettes. It gave it an interesting spin.

Plus, I 100% loved the twist with the two older people who kept appearing! You spent half the movie thinking they were going to bust Jack and out him for ripping off the Beatles, but it turned out they were just overwhelmed with joy that someone else remembered and was bringing their music back into the world. I thought that was just gorgeous.

My mum loved it too and is going to buy it when it comes out on DVD.

But as we remarked, between this, Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody it's been quite the 60s-70s music renaissance lately!

Saw ‘Roman Holiday’ yesterday. Audrey Hepburn was absolutely superb in her very first movie. Not many have won the Oscar in their debut movies (Ben Kingsley comes to mind)

I watched "A Dog's Purpose" on pay-per-view. What a stupid movie. A dog needs several lifetimes to figure out a dog's purpose, which dogs are pretty much born knowing.

The trailers for that new movie about dogs... something about rain... looks pretty stupid too. (The dog wants to be reincarnated as a human and the actor voicing him is horrible.)
