Well, if these were really the worst movies of the year, then 2017 was a pretty good year!

10 Worst Movies of 2017 (Rolling Stone)
https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/lists/10-worst-movies-of-2017-w513255/the-dark-tower-w513319

The Mountain Between Us at #6? I'm really looking forward to seeing that one! The Mummy, Fifty Shades Darker and any Transformers movie are kind of obvious choices, so that makes this list kind of boring to me (obvious, safe choices).

Worst Movies of 2017 (Us Weekly)

Surprised to see Split and Kingsman: The Golden Circle on Us Weekly's list. The two movies that were on both of these lists are Emoji Movie and Suburbicon. I might see Emoji Movie at some point, but I have no interest in seeing Suburbicon.

Those are the BEST! :D :40beers:

I don't see anything beyond number 4 and it was a struggle to get that far, do I gave up.

It's ridiculous to list 'The mountain between us' as one of the worst movies. It's gorgeous! I really enjoyed that movie. I may even see it again, in the cheaper theatre.

The above lists reminded me that I really didn't see many new movies until like November this year.

Isn't that all theatres? I mastered that technique in college. We had really warm winters but I always seemed to need really thick coats that wouldn't show strange lumps.

Actually we didn't use the exit doorways. We just went to the $1 theater. That was a long time ago. I wish I could still see movies for $1 if I waited long enough. Now the cheap theater is a regular price one.

I went to the cheaper seats to see The Force Awakens in cinema for the first time. And some kid kicked my seat for the entire length of the movie! Nothing I said or did could make him stop. It ruined the move for me! A movie I was SO looking forward too. So now if I really want to see a movie, I go to the reserved, adult only screens. Worth every cent not to have someone continuously kick my seat during the movie.

Is that the theatre where everyone sneaks in the exit doorways to the sides of the movie screen while wearing jackets with deep pockets full of reasonably priced snacks from the supermarket instead of paying theatre prices for food? :D

Nah, I just carry them in my purse.

The cheap theatre here shows movies at $3.50. Once a movie is out of the major theatres, it goes to these. I do prefer the $5 morning movies (weekends) at the nice theatre near my home though.

Right now there are so many movies I want to see that I may have to wait for some of them to move to the $3.50 cinema. Just don't have enough weekends.

I am considering waiting for the Disaster Artist to move to the $3.50 cinema. Has anyone seen it yet? It has good reviews and some GG nominations.

How much would it have cost to buy a pop with a loosely placed lid on top. (Trip....) oops! Umm...want a napkin? :EVILLE:

Watched the mountain between us, let's just say it's a good job Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are charismatic, plus the true star of the film: the dog. So we do end up caring for the two of them but it's quite an empty movie with a bit of a blah ending. I was honestly a bit disappointed. Now my next thing will be to watch the new season of Black Mirror: mild depression and anxiety here I come.

With the NFL playoffs starting this weekend, I am going to have less time to see movies in theatres. None of the theatres within 10 miles of me are showing two of the movies I would like to see. So I have a plan.

Get up early on Saturday and Sunday. Go to Tempe tomorrow to see I, Tonya in Tempe. On Sunday go to Scottsdale (I do have something else to do there too) and see Call me by your name. I will probably see Molly's game on a weekday evening next week at the theatre closest to me. Then I will have a four day weeend, with the MLK holiday coming up. So I can binge on movies.

Just read a glowing review of The Post in our local newspaper, as it relates to our current political situation. I can't wait to see this movie but it will come to a theatre near me in a couple of weeks. Right now it is running in just one theatre, and it's in Scottsdale. I can wait a couple of weeks,

I started making a list of movies I want to see after the three I mentioned. I will most probably see three of those next weekend.

(In order)

1.The Post
2.The darkest hour
3.All the money in the world
4.Disaster artist
5.Phantom Thread
6.The greatest showman
7.Any foreign language film nominated for GG or the Oscars (I may have to wait for the DVDs)
8.The Florida project
9.Thor Ragnarok

Did I miss anything? I feel like I probably did.

Dang! I started driving to Tempe Marketplace to see I, Tonya, after memorizing the directions. I made a wrong turn and went in the opposite direction. Found myself in Mesa and had trouble finding my way back home. It was way past the movie time so going home was the best option. Will go to Scottsdale tomorrow. I know the way to that theatre. Must check the FD schedule though. I don't want to miss the FD.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is pretty much what I expected. A light, silly action fantasy for kids. But part of me was hoping it might be one of those movies that worked on two levels, one for youth and one for adults as well. But...not so much. The best thing about it was that visually there is a lot of colour and great production design to marvel at. The story though is thin, yet not unlikeable. The cast is decent, but they aren't given much to do really. I do wonder now what a movie with Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, Luis Guzman, Kristin Davis and Vanessa Hudgens would be like if it had an amazing script. Imagine all of these people getting to feed off of each other with a wonderful story and powerful dialogue. Unfortunately...that's something we are left to imagine...

Saw Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri today. Very very good. Frances McDormand was good as always but I think Sam Rockwell was excellent. Probably the best thing I have seen him do. Definitely one of the better films I have seen of late.
