German Skating News - Part 3

Well, they seem to have the 3A throw now. It looked easy for them. The twist looked impressive. I am surprised that it was counted as valid element, but I love it. I like all those little tweaks skaters do with the elements. It adds variety. I also like the in between elements much more than the last year. The program doesn't look as empty as it was last year. But the 2S - really? At their level?

revenko/bronisefski are removed form the jgp in dresden.
any news why? injured? not ready? pairing did not work out?

Completely blown away by S&M's sp.

I wasn't crazy about it when I saw them do an exhibition version a few months back, but the actual competitive version is probably the best pairs sp in years. There's more dance content in the connecting holds and choreography than most SDs Sphilband puts out.

I'm surprised the crazy catch on the twist made it into the final version. I figured there would be some rule or technicality that would make it illegal, or at least not viewed as "correctly" done by the judges or tech panel.

I really like both their programs, they are so different from each other and showcase the development of them as a couple.

As for the unusual triple twist exit, they were not able to go from the twist right into the lift as they would have liked to as there has to be an exit of the twist, meaning, the girl has to get down on the ice. However, with what they are doing now, there is still an exit, it just is unusual when he first swings her around.
Coach Alexander König is an ISU-level technical specialist, so he knows what they can do and what they can't do. :-)

Did Joti officially change his name? Last season he's been announced with his first full name Panagiotis but i saw at the ISU Bio that the ISU changed it to Joti. Also on the Starting Order at the Nebelhorn-Trophy he's listed as Joti.

Can't wait to see Aliona! I believe she will get her gold in 2018. she's my spirit animal!

Correct, Joti officially asked for using the short version (nickname version) of his first name as it is long and hard to pronounce. ;-)

Unfortunately, Anastasia Revenko had to return home, because of organisational and financial challenges. :-( She is a minor and would need a legal guardian in Germany. Aljona cannot serve as a legal guardian as she is travelling a lot and very busy with her own career. She cannot take the responsibilty for her young niece. Imagine, if something bad happens to her.

thanks for the update;
that's sad as i was looking forward to see them skate.
but of course at that age she needs some guardian and guidance.

oh my, german junior pairs scene is not looking too promising right now :(

I really loved S/M long program, not so much the SP (other than 3A and the twist, which were both stunning). Does anyone know if Massot is working on his posture? It is really distracting when compared to Aliona's.

2 questions for my poor german soul:

1) Dimitrescu still injured? Injured again? The level of junior men is frightning :shuffle:

2) Is Bock allowed to do as many challengers as Schottz/Weinzierl regarding the #racetoeuros ?
For qualification counts:
gp - no skater
jgp: bock (skated twice)
cs: all three skated twice (according to the rules, one more can be done)
nrw-trophy: to come
nationals: to come

So Schott/Weinzierl have 5 competitions the best to get their points, Bock, if she is allowed to skate all 7. Seems a bit unfair to me:shuffle:
Or german fed just says the missing element of a junior program compensates for that?

I just do not get it, why it's always kinda confusing with the nomination process here :watch:

jgp counting towards junior worlds, challenger for euros would've been such an easy method, or?

Wait are you saying they forgot to include the sentence that Junior competitions don't count towards Euro and Worlds Qualification?
Because for Junior Worlds they are only counting Junior competitions so I would assume they mean to only count Senior competitions for Euros and Worlds.

Dimitrescu sustained a foot injury shortly before the first JGP assignment he had so I assume he is still recovering from that. And to be honest the German junior man did better than I thought they would. I think its the first season for Gurdhzi in Juniors and with a 3R and Hess didnt have one till last season for sure.

ah good girl.
i read it twice and always missed the word 'senior'.
so jgp does not count, makes sense.
scusi :shuffle:

So, poor Bock with a great 58pts short program, which does not count towards #eurosrace

Don't like that facet either :shuffle:

In the past you couldn't use senior scores for junior minimums -- there are additional requirements, like a specified jump in the junior SP, an additional element and longer time in the free -- but until this year you could use junior scores to meet the senior minimums.

I can understand not using junior SD scores if the pattern dance and rhythm are different, or even requiring that junior scores come from an ISU event, but I don't understand the rationale of not counting non-SD junior scores towards the senior championship minimums.

Good results from challenger series in Finland:

Schott came in 5th overall in a good field, world standing points :encore:
(now she's in the lead in the euros race, but it's almost a tie between her, weinzierl and bock)

Mari/Ruben got another bronze medal :respec:
great sbs jumps this time, splat in the twist, throw and additional one double throw in the end.

but you can't deny they are really scoring high in the tes besides the mistakes. that only makes you think: what could've been :D
still big doubts about the throw last second and the lutz throw. this one looks kinda hopeless in competition unfortunatly.

so whats your verdict on the JGP in Dresden so far Jeschke?

pairs :
:yikes:

dance:
ger1: copy of k/n and m/d back as juniors, i fear they will stad no chance senior scene next season. not impressed at all.
ger2: :yikes:

men:
:yikes:

ladies:
bock: lucky with the tech specialist, lucky with pcs, way more than in other competitions; i like the short, good for her
hocke: much potential, she's my new herceg :p
dastich: :blah:

if bock manages to get to euros and maybe worlds i hope german fed realizes, she is the one to send to junior worlds too. and if it's only to secure 2 spots for next season. no chance this could be made with either dastich or hocke. sorry.

Well Dastich proved you wrong for the day . All smiles.
Hocke certainly has potential (as Dastich does) and what is more: after her falls she got up and right back into her performance. No on the ice grieving (like Schott or Weinzierl often do, sometimes after OK performance, too).

I think, they shouldn't send Bock to both Worlds (if she makes the #fierceraceforworlds :D). The German fed did it a couple of years ago with Weinzierl after a good Euro and she finished at Junior Worlds in 10th (less what was expected) and was exhausted at Worlds later. At least that's the way I remember it.

have to admit, even i was happy for dastich; german fed put way too much pressure on her last season. it was great to see her like that today. her pcs are still nothing to be happy about. sorry.

so true, not about the schott fact of course :P
but you are riht with hocke; 2pts pcs difference to dastich is a joke, should be way more, these are different levels of skating. but we all know how the game works.

10th at least secured 2 spots - german fed could be happy about that too. but it won't come to this scenario, as schott will be sent to helsinki, that's how it will be :P

btw. very nice arena in dresden, small, but really nice:respec:

and now bock, what will it be? :gallopin1 or :encore:?
