I do have a special appreciation for Goncharov after reading at some point that he was basically the only one of the Russians/Ukrainians training in the US who didn’t beat his partner. He may not have been a great skater but at least it seems like he was a decent human being.

G/G had very slow footwork without consideration of the music and beat and concentrating hard to ensure they hit the levels. They were ahead of their time. These other teams were trying to do the 6.0 thing and dance to the music and express something.

Grushina & Goncharov. The Blond Ambition version. Say what you will, they didn't splat & they didn't fizzle the twizzles. They were together long enough by this point to look like a team.
